Uniroyal Rainsport 3 Reviews - Page 4

Given 89% while driving a Volvo V70 2.4 (205/55 R16) on a combination of roads for 5,000 average miles
Very good tires. Grippy and predictable in the dry and confidence-inspiring in the wet, even on a heavy car like my Volvo. Not excessively noisy and fuel consumption is better than with Avon ZV7s that were previously fitted.
After 5000 miles the fronts are still at 7.5mm so while they are a relatively soft compound I still expect to get a reasonable lifespan from them.

These tires are a joke! Especially their name "Sport"...
Probably the worst tires I have ever tested. Borderline dangerous.
Yes the rubber is grippy but they cannot keep a straight line to save their lives!
Even worst is their behavior to sudden turns. You will have a better driving experience on donuts.
That's how bad they are. The car has a floating feeling that is nearly uncontrollable after 120km/h.
If you push them hard at low speeds but very sharp road turns they will scream and you also have
a feeling that they are bending.
My previous tires were Bridgestone Adrenalin and the difference is abysmal.
In the wet they are grippy but they have the same behavior in terms of stability.
I have replaced half the bushes in my car, some with polyurethane, installed brand new sport
suspension and the difference I was able to make was minimal. I have just received new rims,
I am buying again Bridgestones and these tires are going to the junk yard were they belong.

If you are looking for some performance tires STAY AWAY from these.
Really, they are dangerous for any kind of sport driving.

In my opinion Uniroyal Rainsports are the very best value you can buy. The wet grip is phenomenal, and tire really are a great all round tire. I feel confident every time I get into the car. I have been using these tires, and their predecessors, the Rainsport 1 and 2 for the past 8 years. I guess you could call me a fan!

Given 87% while driving a Honda Aerodeck 1.8 vti (195/55 R15) on mostly country roads for 6,000 spirited miles
Awesome in the wet. Pretty good in the dry too. Use these as my daily tires and also wet trackday tires which is where they really show how well they perform in the wet. Since seeing me use them several other friends have boght a set for use on track. The only downside is they are quite a soft tire and I managed to wear them out quite quickly but the driving was very spirited. I have however had over 10k miles out of a set with more steady driving.

Given 79% while driving a Ford Puma (195/50 R15) on a combination of roads for 13,000 spirited miles
Tire are gone on the inside, the Pumas tend to do this sooooo no big surprise there but they were only good for 1 year something like 20000-25000 km's, surprisingly good in the wet, hardly any scare with this tires on in the dry they were also good but not great
Overall a good tire but keep in mind that it is a very very heavy wear prone tire.
Would buy again simply because for my car's tire size I either go semi-slick or there really isn't a much better tire than this one

Just driven on (starting to go slushy) show for the first time since buying these tires and they are exceptionally good. Almost as good as proper winter tires.

Wasn't expecting that!

After seeing raving reviews about the Uniroyal Rainsport 3 for club level motorsport events I thought I would give them a go on my road car. Best way I can describe them is comparable to the Michelin Pilot Sport 3 but without the price tag, although they don't last as long.
The dry grip is good and wet grip is the best I've had from a road tire, I drive quickly and love it when it rains as I can pull some fast traffic light getaways.
In the snow the tires were very impressive, drove past people who were going nowhere. Don't get me wrong they are not winter tires but handled the slushy snow very well. I now only fit these to my car although they can be tricky to source.

I think that you can't buy a better summer tire thats good for the rain for this price...It's amazing...
I wouldn't call it a sport tire, i would call it a very very safe tire...

You can absolutely hoon in the biggest rainfall and the car will grip like its on dry pavement.

However it does have flaws...Sidewalls are very soft, it rides nice, but steering feel is reduced(but it does have a ton of grip)...I WOULD NOT put this tire on any heavy vehicle!!! Only lighter cars.
The sidewall will get hernia(buble) on potholes, curbs, or even burst if you put it on a 1.5-2 ton vehicle, like i've seen on few luxury sedans(audi a6 wagon\, E class etc)...

But it's amazing for your average golf, clio, megane, focus, etc which are not that heavy...

Given 69% while driving a Volkswagen Golf GTI Ed 30 (225/40 R18) on a combination of roads for 9,000 spirited miles
I have these tires on my Golf running 340 bhp (fwd) and they are great for launching and straight line grip due to the soft tire walls. They also perform well in the wet and feel safe on the motorway even in heavy rain. However due to the side walls being very soft they do not inspire confidence through corners. Have worn better than expected for a cheaper tire.

Tires drive better on rain than on dry tarmac. Considering the price it is well worth it. Would buy again
