Not being satisfied with just running dry handling, I'm going to test the tires in wet handling, dry and wet braking, and of course the all important dry handling, to find out which tire is fastest in which conditions.

1st: Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R

Incredible dry braking, very fast first lap pace, low levels of drop off. Excellent steering precision and feedback. High levels of aquaplaning and low grip in the wet. While the Cup 2 R is now equalled on first lap pace by the new Goodyear SuperSport RS, the longer run pace means its still the best in the category of extreme performance track tires.

2nd: Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R

Excellent wet grip, in both wet braking and wet handling. Relatively low levels of aquaplaning. Stable lap times in the dry and easy to drive fast. Relatively long dry braking and relatively average grip in the dry. Rear aquaplaning in the wet. In this size at least, the Trofeo R should be a rival to the Cup 2, not the Cup 2 R. The Trofeo R was slower and softer in the dry, but had much better mechanical grip in the wet. As the lap times were more consistent, this is the type of tire to fit if you plan on doing a lot of track days.
