2022/23 Best 9 All Terrain Tires
2nd of 9 tires
  • Best in wet handling, shortest wet braking distance, good aquaplaning resistance, shortest dry braking, good dry handling time, good on dirt, lowest noise on test, excellent levels of comfort.
  • Oversteer handling balance on gravel, high rolling resistance.
  • The Continental TerrainContact AT was the best tire in the wet grip tests with the best wet handling and shortest wet braking, good aquaplaning resistance, shortest dry braking, very good dry handling, and some of the lowest noise levels and best comfort on test. Where could the tire be better? It had a disappointingly high rolling resistance, and while the lap time on gravel finished mid pack, sublimit subjectively it was hindered by slow to react steering and a wandering rear axle. A very very good tire, with peak safety in both the braking tests. We highly recommend this tire and this is exactly what we think a mild AT tire should be.

Top 3 Continental TerrainContact AT Reviews

Given 63% while driving a Lincoln Navigator (265/60 R18) on a combination of roads for 10,000 spirited miles
Really like the all around performance in my normal environment of southern Texas. Off-road grip is great with a deep tread pattern. Noise on road is quiet for the type or tire it is. If you never get into a winter environment, I highly recommend them. However, my last trip to Colorado put me in so many close calls I couldn’t get off the mountain fast enough.

For an all terrain tire, wow. I use the Michelin CrossClimate 2 as my winter tire and swapping to these in Spring, it's hard to tell the difference in grip and comfort. There is slightly more tread pattern noise at speed but it's pretty low. Very impressive tire.

Given 79% while driving a Chevrolet silverado 1500 (275/55 R20) on a combination of roads for 25,000 average miles
Continental Terrain Contact AT is a great performing tire on my Silverado. The highlights are incredible wet traction grip and hydroplane resistance, quiet, good handling, decent ride quality. I am so impressed with the wet grip because I rarely see traction control come on with these Continentals. So much better than other tires I've used. I have also driven on loose dirt and gravel without issue. My only complaint about the Continental Terrain Contact AT is tread life but that may not totally be the tires fault. When I had the tires put on I also replaced the shocks. The alignment was off and chewed up some tire life. However, after getting an alignment I am seeing 1/32 of rubber consumed after 5,000 miles so these would not have hit the mileage rating anyway.

Given 91% while driving a Ram 1500 4wd (275/60 R20) on mostly motorways for 59 spirited miles
Quiet tires on the road. Rated for 60k and buying a new set next week with 300 miles short of the 60k guarantee. Have driven these in snow and ice with better than average results for traction. Great during heaving rains with freeway driving.
