Davanti DX640 Reviews - Page 8

Given 98% while driving a Mercedes Benz S500 (255/45 R18 W) on mostly town for 1,000 average miles
Had continental tires on which these replaced and I cannot tell the difference from grip or braking as they feel the same however the tires are far quieter and more comfortable and at less than half the continental price I am well pleased. Contis cost £226.50 EACH which is £906 per set, I just paid £360 for a set of Davanti DX640’s. OK so the tread depth is 7.2mm new not 8mm as the contis are, but for the price I can buy 2 sets and still have change. That is Vale for money not tire snobbery.

Audi rs3 (235/35 R19 W) on a combination of roads for 1,500 average miles
These were fitted to an Audi RS3 i bought, an odd choice of tire given the car, but I figured I'd try them as they were all brand new and surely they cant be that bad right? Wrong. They wont balance properly for love nor money, Audi have used a dynamic balancer and even replaced an alloy but still they wobble at speed. Low speed is fine, grip seems ok but in a quattro the car will be flattering the poor tires somewhat. Feedback from the tires is a little vague and as for exploring traction at 'the limits' then I'll pass thanks, they don't inspire confidence, I'm sure theyre fine on a low power average family car, don't bother on anything fast.
I gave it a shot, not for me I'm afraid. They will be coming off and getting replaced with some goodyear assymetric 3's. To sum up - you can't polish a turd.

Given 81% while driving a Peugeot 508 rxh estate (245/45 R18 W) on mostly country roads for 2,000 average miles
I recently fitted a set of four Davanti DX640 245/45/18W tires to my Peugeot 508 RXH. My car is a hybrid with four wheel drive and has 200 Bhp. I have driven around 2000 miles so far mainly on Country roads. My previous tires were Michelin Primacy 3, which are a premium brand tire. I got a deal on the Davanti's paying only £308 fully fitted for all four tires. There is an improvement in road noise and so far no noticeable difference between the premium Michelin and probably described at best as mid range Davanti's. I got 18k miles out of my Michellin's so only time will tell regarding the Davanti's. I did a lot of research prior to buying them. They are made in China and Chinese tires often get bad press, which I am mindful of. This is an early honest review of a new tire brand. I hope others find it useful.

Given 45% while driving a Nissan Primera (215/50 R17 W) on mostly country roads for 4,000 average miles
Fitted two of these to the front of my Nissan Primera Estate, was really impressed at how quiet they were for the first 1000 miles and the grip seemed good/standard but after that, even in only damp conditions I noticed the wheels were spinning when trying to move off (not even that hastily). I only had the same problem with the previous Avons when they were significantly worn and at the end of their life.
It doesn't happen all the time, but I have to be conscious about the fact I may not move as far as expected when pulling out of junctions in the wet...
In addition, sadly the quietness of these tires was also short lived after only a few thousand miles.
Dry grip is fine and I've not had any handling issues on corners even in the wet, though I wouldn't say I drive madly.
Wouldn't buy again.

Given 91% while driving a Porsche Boxter S (235/35 R19) on mostly country roads for 5,000 spirited miles
I bought a second hand boxter s and Davanti came on the car when I bought it, there is staggered sizes front and back, I usually drive on continentals and I can not notice the difference, the tires are doing everything the continentals do on my other car, the grip in the wet is outstanding and overal handling is fantastic, was told I was meant to put N rated tires on this car but I am going to keep the davanti tires on as I can not fault them.

Given 86% while driving a Volkswagen Passat 2.0TDI (235/45 R17 W) on a combination of roads for 950 average miles
I was a bit apprehensive when I first bought the tires as I hadn't heard of the brand before, but the garage said they were a new brand and he's been really impressed by them (he had them on his own Octavia). This is the first set of tires I have bought for this car (2012 VW Passat) and they were replacing Avon which I assume didn't come with the car from new as it's got fairly high mileage. I've had them on now for coming up to 1000 miles and so far they are great, they don't look like they've lost any tread. I didn't really have anything to complain about with the Avons at the time, but theres definitely more grip from these tires. There hasn't been any torrential rain just yet, but they've been good in the "damp". They do seem really quiet, I've seen seen people say they were quiet when I read the reviews on here and I'd agree, they seem a bit more "comfortable" than the Avons. I don't drive particularly aggressively so I can't comment on what they're like at the limit, so I just marked them middle of the road. So far so good, happy with my purchase

Given 41% while driving a MINI Cooper S (205/45 R17) on a combination of roads for 8,000 spirited miles
I can't believe these tires get such high reviews. Utter garbage. In the dry they're adequate at best but not very progressive and understeer, tramlining and instability over white lines and cats eyes are the order of the day. In the wet? Hideous (actually, dangerous). I drive a Mini Cooper SD and I can't believe how bad these are. They'll be getting thrown in the bin soon where they belong. The only positive to these is that in 9k miles they don't look like they've worn - probably due to the lack of grip they offer. Honestly, £40 Arrowspeed very budget tires are better.

Given 93% while driving a Volkswagen Golf MK6 1.6 tdi (225/45 R17 W) on a combination of roads for 6,000 spirited miles
Bought these tires on advice from my local tire depot as i wanted something in the middle range bracket, had toyo on before, the difference was night and day, these are excellent in the wet and dry, didn't notice the noise levels as apparently they were meant to be quieter than the toyo i had on before but this doesn't bother me, i have covered around 6000 miles and have around 5 - 6mm left on front and back, i got the tread checked with local depot when i got a puncture, was quite surprised as they told me the tread starts at 8mm, i have also put these tires on my wife's bmw 2254018 on the front, can not fault them at all, great value for money, especially with the life time guarantee which covers for potholes etc. Would certainly buy again

Given 34% while driving a Ford Mondeo (225/45 R17) on mostly motorways for 8,000 average miles
Initial impressions were fine. Dry grip is nothing special and they are a bit noisy. Wet grip is poor and the car feels twitchy at motoway speeds in the wet. I do lots of miles and 8000 miles in 4.5 months the wear doesn't look took great. Even for economy tires these aren't up to the job. I can't wait to get rid of them.

Rubbish.

Given 90% while driving a Audi A3 TDI SLine Quattro 181bhp (225/40 R18 W) on a combination of roads for 4,000 average miles
I made the change from Continental CSC5s to Davanti DX640s. Impressions after 4,000 miles, very impressed! Excellent wet grip, able to maintain road grip without wheel spinning and traction control kicking in which is brilliant considering the amount of rain we have had this winter! After giving the tires a good bedding in, they handle very well in dry conditions. Can't fault the grip and cornering even with power down. Very impressed, quiet tire with brilliant performance in both the wet and dry. Will definitely buy again!

Given 79% while driving a Ford Mondeo Titanium X Sport (225/45 R17) on a combination of roads for 10,000 average miles
I deliberated for ages on these tires but in the end i went for 640DX ×4 ON 235,55,18.
Instantly noticed they were whisperingly quiet,
They are very responsive and feel well planted,
Pretty much straight away i noticed they feel a little twitchy at 3 figure speeds and want to completly let go in the wet at these figures(scary).
Driven on normally they are great but dont like being pushed in the wet i find.
I am on 10000 miles now and i reckon about 3.5 mm left on the fronts and rears look new still.

Would i recommend them?
Yes if you take it steady in the wet and want a quiet ride.
