Falken ZE914 Reviews - Page 2

Given 87% while driving a Fiat croma (225/45 R17) on a combination of roads for 40,000 spirited miles
After replacing Conti Eco Contact (garbage) with these, I felt like born again. When Conti Eco Contact failed miserably, I was looking for a replacement and reviews were pointing towards these. I am happy to say, these are among best tires I ever had on any of my cars, bested only by Michelin Primacy. I have driven them on highway, local roads, a bit on dirt road, went over potholes, mud and sludge, mountain drive, sharp cornering, fast driving, you name it. After 40.000 miles, they are on half wear and still perfectly balanced, great grip, comfortable and safe. I am selling my car now and it goes with these tires out. I feel like there is at least 20.000 miles in them, and if I could keep them for my new car, I would.
Downside is somewhat stiff ride but not so hard, wet grip is very good but not fantastic, but very good, and only noticeable thing is they skid a bit when starting uphill on dry road. I guess it comes as result of durability. However, if you hit brakes in panic, they stop the car immediately, don't wobble, and give you great feedback, and, as it happened to me few times, after a second or two, what went trough my mind was " thank God I have these tires on my wheels..."
So, I can recommend them, especially for the price, where you will get 98% performance of tires that cost double or triple than these.

Given 74% while driving a Mazda MX5 (225/45 R17) on track for 800 average miles
I have 4 on my MX5 mk1 on 14" standard rims.
They squeal a lot when pushed but still grip well. Seem to take a bit of warming up so last time out I went down to 22 psi cold.
Wear was more noticeable at Cadwell than Mallory.
A little bit skittish on the road in the wet although I have track stiff suspension so not necessarily the tires fault.

I think they're excellent value for money particularly on standard rims.

Given 77% while driving a Kia Motors Pro ceed (215/45 R17 V) on a combination of roads for 19,000 spirited miles
Its the second car of the family i get the 914s...
On mine ,they lasted (they are still on...) 35K km....the first 25K km they were great!
Absolutely magnificent in dry conditions
-they followed a set of falken fk 451,a set of yokohama s drive(worst tire ever) and one of barum bravuris 2...the 914 outperformed all of them easily...great tire on dry conditions even when pushed...the car is often driven to its limits when dry,in fast tight roads with hairpin turns
When wet the tires are also pretty good...especially when in their prime and if you are careful with the midterm back and front change of the tires, the handle nice and the stop accurately...no aquaplanning at all...
But...after 25K the change their behavior a bit and you start to notice a change in thw wet ...they slip a bit and you should be more careful than before....after 30K they need to be replaced

Their lifetime is around 30K kms with a playful driving....
My father who drives like a 60yo...got them replaced at 60K kms (2.5years) with no problem at all...

The final verdict is that its a great tire...it gives you a sense of security and it comes in great price too...i would buy it again if the price wont go up like its heard

BMW (225/40 R18 W) on mostly country roads for 12,000 average miles
Bought these due to the relative good reviews. No complains about the costs and wear, they are ok. They fall a bit small around my 18" rims, the Vredestein Sessantas stuck out a bit more so curbs are a real pain when parking.
Biggest complain is the tire cupping on the front. Car is perfect alignet, been checked twice. Also the suspension components are ok. Rear 255/35 ZR 18 are still ok. Both tires have still lots of tread left, but the noise is awfull so I will change the fronts with Michelins next summer.

Given 93% while driving a Opel Omega 3l V6 (225/45 R17) on a combination of roads for 8,000 spirited miles

Given 93% while driving a Skoda Fabia Scout 1.6 tdi (205/45 R16) on a combination of roads for 30,000 spirited miles

Given 93% while driving a Skoda Fabia Scout 1.6 tdi (205/45 R16) on a combination of roads for 30,000 spirited miles
