I had these fitted to 1988 BMW 530i all round to get rid of the rubbish budgets it had when I bought it. As expected it transformed the drive of the car. Much more than I expected, these are so quiet compared to before. The dry and wet grip is awesome! Ive never had the back end kick out once, its like driving on rails now.

As for the reviews about using them in the snow they obvously overlooked the fact these are summer tires! They were never made to be used in the snow.

If you want a great summer tire with loads of grip rain or shine then these are what you need!

Very good tires for their current price. Definitely much better than the Eagle NCT5's the car came with.

Superb grip which I imagine is the idea for this car - built and geared largely for acceleration. Very noisy and harsh, the wear is not too bad for a car 'derestricted' to about 425 BHP - I drive gently and expect to get about 20000. The noise and stiffnes just gives a coarse ffeling to the ride. Not many tires this size to choose from but am just about to try a set of pilot Sports (£1170) and see how they go.

Given 80% while driving a Peugeot 206 GTi 137 (205/45 R16 W) on a combination of roads for 20,000 spirited miles
These are the first Premium tires I have ever purchased, with many pros and cons.

Handling & Performance - With a reasonable tread these were awsome on cornering and grip but they grip the road too well which leads to problems with handling on deviations in the road surface. This is something that gets worse the more the tire wears. Accelerating from a standstill however has resulted in zero skids even in the wet. I have noticed however that the tires are not very good in the snow. They can get up a hill no problem but even light breaking on compacted snow causes the ABS to kick in.

Comfort - The compound of the tires must be quite hard as you do feel every bump and pot hole which does not make for a comfortable ride. As a result, i've had to replace 2 front coil springs and an ABS ring within the last 12 months.

As these are run flat tires you can safely drive them to a garage when flat without having to lower your speed to a crawling pace or shread the tire. With budget or some mid range tires I used to constantly get screw and nail punctures but in the 2 years I've had these i've not had one.

Overall - Great for grip, reasonable tire wear, hard to puncture but poor handling below 3m tread (pulling side to side).

These tires are great if you don't live in the real world or drive your car on real roads. The grip in the dry is amazing and you can do things with the that you would struggle to do with any other tire.

However, when the roads get a bit damp these things are lethal. Grip on ice and snow does not exist. I was unaware that there was an incline from my house up to the main road until I got these tires. The first light frost we had and that was it for going to work until mid morning. I also didn't expect comfort from them but the ride was truely awful. Wear was another big downside. I don't have the most powerful car but having got 35000 miles out of a set of Michelin Pilot Sports I was a bit grumpy when these lasted for fewer than 12000.

If you drive a nice car on a few dry days in the summer and you want to have some fun these are the ones for you. if you use your car like a normal person try something else.

If you are looking for a tire with a reasonable life expectancy don't buy these.

Managed just 5000 miles on the front and require replaced. Much better with Michelin Primacy Sport.

these are very cheap now as they are no longer made , but still a fantastic tire , grip very very well in the dry and also good in the wet with unbeatable resistance to aquaplaning, this is my second set, only problem is that they really need to be changed before they get to the wear indicator , they dont grip near as well once they go below 3mm , other than that great tire now a bargain buy

Given 69% while driving a Peugeot 206 SW 1.6 16v (205/45 R16 W) on mostly town for 22,735 average miles
Original fitted on the Peugeot 206 SW Quiksilver. Good tires when dry, not so much confidence when it's wet/aquaplanning. Car has now more than 47.000 miles (76.000 km), the front tires changed 1 time (again Goodyear Eagle F1), at the back still the original factory ones. When it's snows, almost no grip on the roads.

These are the worst tires I have ever purchased. The sad thing is they were not cheap. This is my second year on these tires and I can hear road noise. They were not meant for a quite ride. Also I constantly loose air presure on these tires. Took it to my local Good Year shop twice to see if there is a slow leak and they could not find any. You can definatley find better tires for the price they are charging for these garbage. The grip on wet is ok. Dry is better. But not happy with the overall tire.

I bought 4 new 215 45 17 to replace what was already on my 2002 impreza 285bhp wrx, and have covered just over 20k in 18months on them and notice they are coming up for replacement in the next few thousand miles or so. Even wear across all 4 tires which is expected from an awd only thing is it means replaceing all 4 together!. The grip I have in wet and dry conditions is impressive even with the high spirited accleration from the roundabouts in the wet, they still make the car feel fully seated to the tarmac and must admit have only ever heard a slight squeal from them in the dry. Roads noise is getting louder the more the tires are wearing and i've now noticed the aquaplaning across the road is far more noticeable as the tires are aging.
If i can still find them i will replace with the same but think they'r going to be hard to find now. So wil be looking for alternatives.

Dry: Dry grip is good but IMHO it could be better. Very progressive feel when losing grip and warns via very loud squeals and screech's when it's on the limit. GSD3 seems to like to wander around on less well paved surfaces. Dry braking performance is very good and gives good confidence. Performs at its peak after running in on an average of 1000 KM. Setting lower air pressures gives it a more comfortable ride but out in an extra 5 psi or so the sidewall firms up and tire scrubbing is reduced drastically. Grip goes up exponentially but noise and discomfort goes up as well.

Wet: Exceptional wet performance. Confident inspiring even on the wettest days or nights. Grip is phenomenal and is able to claw you out of tight spots when you get into them. Great feel as well when its at the limit and very progressive.

Do note that alignment really affects the performance of the tires substantially. Experimented with running camber settings between -1.5 Front and -0.5 Rear and -1 Front and -0.2 Rear and found that straight line wet performance suffers on the former. The "V" operates more efficiently in channeling water when it is as flat as possible. Car now permanently runs on -1 Front and -0.2 Rear camber setting.

After 15,000KM of hard driving tires has worn down to 50% Front and 70% Rear. Rotation is promptly done and now after another 17,000km the tires are worn down to 50% Front 50% Rear. I go through tires fairly quickly due to my weekend drives up (and down) the northern Malaysian mountains and they go through A LOT of abuse. They hold up very well and I still remain impressed with its wet weather performance. Will purchase them again after experimenting with other tires.

Not sure about all those reviews which say wet performance deteriorates; I'll take this with a VERY big pinch of salt.

I have a 1995 2.0 Cav GLS with standard chassis but a 200BHP modded engine and NOTHING I've found keeps up with it on the bendier roads. It's got 205 45 R16 F1 GSD3's all round, and yes, the wear is poor, but just to prove something I let them wear down to around 1.7mm and then took them out in the heavy rain (something we get a LOT of in Wales). I drove somewhat cautiously at first, but soon found myself ripping up the A5 around Llangollen at the speeds I normally reserve for the dry with no hint of "twitchiness", aquaplaning or ANY of the problems described by the others here (Sorry guys, but I'm only reporting what I found and that section of the A5 carries a LOT of standing water in places).

One thing I DID find which is maybe what the others are talking about is that lateral grip (side to side) is excellent, but front to back (braking and acceleration) is vague, ESPECIALLY in the wet (wheelspins galore).

So, if you blast down the road and rely on your brakes (They're for STOPPING the car by the way, not applying at each corner to slow you down and holding up those behind you who CAN actually drive properly) then you will find these won't work for you, otherwise these tires are amongst the best you can get IMHO.
