Infinity INF 05 Reviews - Page 2

Given 36% while driving a Ford Focus MK3 (215/55 R16 W) on a combination of roads for 4,000 average miles
I've came to this website to see if I was the only one who had issues with these tires, turns out by the looks of it that I'm wrong. I ended up with these budget Infinity's fitted to my Focus after having the OEM Michelins replaced at a main ford dealer because of wear and an embedded nail. All seemed well during the summer months until a rain storm saw me sliding down a motorway slip road and having the biggest near-miss I've had in 10 years of driving. These tires are just not suited to British roads or weather. For a FWD they're manageable with exercising some caution but on a RWD car I couldn't imagine how severe the lack of wet grip would be. I've since had them replaced with A-rated Hankook ventus primes, the improvement is a huge return of confidence and the awful noise is a thing of the past, a lesson well learned. Avoid these tires.

Given 36% while driving a Skoda Octavia VRS (225/40 R18 W) on mostly country roads for 3,000 average miles
Had a pair of these fitted when I purchased my Octavia VRs. My first foray in wet weather meant a call to some new Pilot Sports. Like a similar reviewer, they are definitely by far the worst tires in damp or wet conditions Ive had the misfortune to use. I foolishly put them on the backas they still had 6mm left. Wet day, Michelins gripped lick glue on the front - predictiably these Infinitys caused the back to almost have a conversation about how awful they were with a tree...I've just ordered another set of Pilots for the rear. In summary -average in the dry, Fear (and death) inducing in the wet - avoid.

Given 24% while driving a Jaguar X Type 2.0 FWD (225/45 R17) on a combination of roads for 600 easy going miles
I've driven mini's with bald crossplies that have more grip than these death seekers in the rain. Yes, I'm old enough... I've spent my time on race tracks, I drive about 30,000 miles a year usually in all road conditions so it's not as if I'm a beginner.

They came with some 17@ wheels I bought for my car, and I thought they can't be that bad... The wheels were mounted on my Xtype Estate diesel, and this is when the "fun" began. The Xtype is pretty good for a front wheel drive car, it has traction control, good traction, and to be fair can handle anything I've ever thrown at it. But with these things on I was constantly waiting for the front to let go, the rear to let go, or even on one occasion going around the A£-M25 roundabout in the damp, for all 4 to let go. And they did, at about 15mph. No warning, one bit you can feel some weight on the steering, a few yards further on the steering wheel is just something to hang onto until it finds some grip. Luckily it has managed to do this, needing a curb once to help it out. They stayed on the car only as long as it took me to find some Dunlop Kojac's to replace them with. In fact I reckon it would have more grip with just the rims in contact with the road...

To be completely honest at one point I thought I had lost the clutch. The car was just sitting there with the traction control light on continuously whilst I was trying to leave a laybye on the A34. I thought I must be on a diesel spill or gravel, but all that was out there was a puddle.

Actually I'm shocked that they are still for sale in this country. I looked at the dates of review, these tires are date stamped last year.

If you value your life, the car, any lamp posts, in fact anything that you could slide into if a sparrow pee'd on the road in front of these tires, don't buy them. Lethal. At any speed, and in any conditions.

Given 53% while driving a Alfa Romeo (225/45 R17) on mostly motorways for 12,000 average miles
These were the best my local tire shop had on the shelf the day I noticed I was down to 1-2mm on my old P-Zeros, so had to take them...

Overall INF-05's with 7mm+ of tread were much nicer to drive than the PZeros with

Given 28% while driving a Mazda MX5 (205/45 R16 V) on a combination of roads for 15,000 spirited miles
People say you get what you pay for, and although I inherited these tires on my MX5, they are truly the most awful tire I've ever had on a car.

Dry weather grip is generally acceptable, but put your foot on the power in a corner in the wet and it could spell big, big trouble. I've narrowly avoided a couple of accidents in the wet with these - and did once completely spin the car 360 degrees on a roundabout exit - it got to the stage where I'd not drive the car in the wet, such were my safety concerns.

This week, with they tires having done under 15,000 miles in 2 weeks off 3 years, my MoT tester pointed out both had splits on the inner edges between the sidewall and tread, so are illegal.

I cannot recommend them, they are a waste of money, and a serious safety risk, so plan to fit Uniroyal Rail Sport 3s.

Given 54% while driving a Vauxhall Insignia ST SRI CDTI ecoFLEX 160 (225/45 R18 W) on a combination of roads for 700 spirited miles
They cost less than half the price of the top brands. You can't expect them the be as good. They are however a fairly good tire. I have them fitted to a 160 BHP Insignia, not a rocket ship but still got a fair amount of torque. I use the vehicle as a taxi and have driven to all kinds of conditions. They are a pretty good all rounder, well worth the money considering the savings so long as you don't expect them to perform like a top brand when pushed hard.

Given 71% while driving a Ford Mondeo (205/55 R16 W) on a combination of roads for 1,000 easy going miles
Bought a Ford Mondeo fitted with 4 brand new Infinity INF 05 tires a month ago in December. I would class myself as a safe family driver so I'm not pushing the tires to their limits. Bearing this in mind, and the fact that it's been a wet winter, I have had no issues whatsoever and am happy with their performance. The only niggle is the road noise which is a little load but certainly not unbearable.

Given 44% while driving a Ford Focus mk2 (225/45 R17) on a combination of roads for 5,000 spirited miles
My Focus came with two of the INF 05 at the rear, brand new. Its been two years now and they look new. With an OK grip in the dry, you worry more about the road noise...wow, its like a train that noise. In the wet? Aquaplaned three times almost smashing into the road barrier twice and just missing a ditch the third time, these tires where made to send people to the after life. Even on damp conditions they give you as much grip as you get from a skating blade and ice.

Given 51% while driving a Ford Mondeo (205/50 R17 V) on a combination of roads for 5,000 spirited miles
In the dry these are reasonable. Good traction off the line and good cornering feel....however in the wet or even damp, its like driving on ice. Terrible traction issues and zero cornering grip. Lethal and ruinous to any fun you can have in your car. Do not buy, even shoddy p6000 or nankang ns2 do better, seriously awful. Car came with these only 40% worn and I'm binning them.

Given 14% while driving a Mazda 6 (215/45 R17 W) on a combination of roads for 1,000 average miles
Had two of these fitted to the front. They are LETHAL! In the dry they perform as you would expect of a budget tire. In anything other than bone dry conditions they are dangerous. No grip whatsoever in the damp. Was told by the fitter that because of the directional tread they would be good in the wet. Infinity's own website states that they give excellent wet grip. They are both very wrong. Drive slowly around a damp roundabout and they understeer like you are driving on oil. I have found myself driving with extreme care when driving in damp conditions as they inspire no confidence whatsoever. I have purchased budget tires before and they have all performed as good as more expensive brands. These however are worse than running on bald tires. I am amazed that they can be sold for road use they are that bad. I performed a brake test in the wet at 60mph and the ABS cut in straight away. I have put these tires onto the rear for now so I can at least steer and brake in the wet. However, in a front wheel drive car, the back end should not be twitching on wet bends. I am a police pursuit driver and in my opinion these tires are dangerous. DO NOT BUY THEM HOWEVER CHEAP THEY ARE.
