Questions and Answers for the Toyo Proxes 4 Plus

2018-07-11 - Is there any reason why Toyo Proxes 4 Plus all season high performance radials would not be recommended for a Porsche 911 Carrera S? Other than possibly the front tire W speed rating of 168 mph. Never reached by most of us. Or that they are not Porsche certified. Thank you

Assuming the size and load rating is correct, they should be fine. You might find on a powerful sports car like a 911, the all season Toyo might feel soft compared to a proper summer UHP tire.

These tires came on a used car when I purchased it. They are

Given 60% while driving a Hyundai Genesis Coupe V6 (245/45 R19) on a combination of roads for 7,000 spirited miles
They grip very well in the dry warm season but they lose grip quickly in the wet or over ice/snow. They also lose grip quickly in the cold. Even at +15 Celsius (later fall / early spring) you can already feel the loss of traction when accelerating or cornering hard but for regular driving they are just fine. Still better than many cheap all-season tires. Despite that I drove on these tires in the winter with below freezing temperatures and snow and did not have any problems with normal driving. Reasonably quiet on the road for what they are. Overall these split the difference pretty well between summer tires and regular all season tires. Really good for if you like to drive spirited but don't want to use summer tires whether for cost or because it rains a lot.

Given 85% while driving a Porsche 991 Carrera S Cabriolet (295/30 R20 W) on mostly country roads for 100 average miles
Just bought a set for a Porsche 911 Carrera S 991.
All season to get me through the winter.
Comfort and quiet far exceed the PZeros and SottoZeros I previously had.
They are Y rated for the rear 295/30R20s and W rated for the front 245/35R20s.
They look good, very similar to PZeros.
And they are less expensive than PZeros.
Only have about 60 miles on them in the wet and dry.
So far so good.
Very cold the next two days. Will update.

Given 87% while driving a Lexus (225/50 R17) on a combination of roads for 1,000 average miles
Only had the new Proxy 4 plus a few weeks on my wife's car but the ride is much better than the Michelin MXV4 that were on the car and wore out by 20000 miles. On top of that the price was $75.00 cheaper per tire then the Michelins. Cant comment on the wear yet or snow but they definetly grip the road better the the Michelins. ( even my wife noticed)
