Accelera PHI Reviews - Page 7

Given 68% while driving a Porsche Boxster 2.5 (225/50 R17 W) on a combination of roads for 1,400 spirited miles
Wet grip = Horrendous. The back end has come away and oversteered on roundabouts in the wet on a few occasions. This was driving at speeds I usually would have with the Hankook Venus V12 EVO K110 tires (HIGHLY RECOMMEND) I had fitted prior to the Epi Accelera PHI tires. Unexpected yet a good laugh nonetheless. Tokyo drifting around roundabouts! I also had an instance where I exited a roundabout (no drifting on that occasion! Boo!) onto a dual carriageway with a slight uphill gradient, I put my foot down in 2nd at low speed to get up to speed and also to leave some cock end in a pimped up BMW 320d E92 behind due to him being provocative via tailgating my the rear wheels lit up and the car snake tailed... regained traction easily enough and the roads were damp to be fair. It was either that or I'd have brake tested the little shit for being so irresponsible. I'd have won with the 4 piston Brembo monobloc's on all 4 corners. It wasn't like I was driving like a granny! Must have had the Porsche/BMW inferiority complex. To conclude; great in the dry, shit in the wet. So if your car is RWD be careful moist/damp and wet roads!

Given 63% while driving a Ford Focus mk2 (205/55 R16 H) on a combination of roads for 5,000 easy going miles
I can't believe how a tire can differ so extremely on different road conditions.

These tires are surprisingly well balanced on dry surfaces. They perform amazingly good even when pushed their limits. Everything is rosy until you start driving on wet/rainy roads. Even though I was recommending these tires to my friends because they are made by the same factory who were used to produce Continetal Sport Contact 2 and the design is the same, they have nothing related with the Conti's. These tires are the worst and most dangerous tires I have ever driven in my life. They have literally 0 grip and braking is an horror story. Several times I went in really dangerous situations because the tires couldn't cope with the emergency braking.

If you value your lives or your family, please don't buy these tires.

Given 80% while driving a BMW 530D M sport (275/30 R19 V) on a combination of roads for 1,000 spirited miles
I went to my usual tire shop who suggested I try the Accelera ph2. He said if I didn't like them after 500 miles he would change them for free. I was a bit apprehensive on the idea as I usually use Continental's. My car has a staggered setup with wider 275/30/19 on the rear. I've been driving now for almost 1000 miles now so as you can guess, I wont be returning the tires. I have found no problems with grip in all weather conditions ... apart from snow. At speeds of about 90mph they seem to be very stable. Just how you can loose control at speeds of under 40mph is beyond me as some reviewers have suggested. They have a very similar tread design to the Continentals and the walls look great. Good feedback and low road noise. I cant feel any difference
from the previous tires and at a third of the price I don't think I will ever buy premium priced tires again. I think the tire industry really has moved on in recent years. I would certainly recommend these tires and by again.

Given 64% while driving a Audi A6 2.7tdi Saloon 2008 (245/40 R18) on mostly motorways for 15,000 average miles
Audi a6 2.7tdi fwd 15000 miles all motorway/ country roads, front were worn down so much there was no tread left rears had about 4-5mm thread left, for the price paid they lasted well nearly half the price of some Michelin's. Road noise and comfort were good, only fault was at speeds above 90 the steering wheel had slight vibration, had them balanced properly and tracked but guess its just the tires. Dry grip is fine unless you take sharp country road bends at 60 mph but wet grip was really bad, taking slight bends at 40mph and the car would sometimes loose grip. overall they are perfect for city driving, but for anything above 50mph and not in a straight line or in the rain get some better brand tires, the difference is night and day, ive had Pirelli centurato p7, p0 rosso, michelin pilot sports on this car and out of all the p0 rosso's and the michelins were perfect.

Given 79% while driving a BMW Z4 3.0Si (255/35 R18 W) on a combination of roads for 6,000 spirited miles
Had all 4 tires replace 225 on front a 255 on rear these have been so much better than the bridgstones that came off, even my wife sat in the passengers seat noticed the difference, far better ride and noise even at speed, great tire for the money, would I buy again a big YES

Given 88% while driving a Ford Mustang GT Convertible (285/30 R18 W) on a combination of roads for 200 spirited miles
These came mounted with a staggered set of 20" Black Giovanna Dalar wheels installed on a modified 5Spd 2006 Ford Mustang GT Convertible w/ 25k miles. 20x10 rear/ 20x9 front. The fronts are PHI-R's and the rear PHI 2's. Read reviews all over the net and had some doubts due to the lack of info on these. After researching I found the reviews were 50/50 positive-negative online on various sites. I did notice (and read elsewhere) that the tread pattern was almost exactly the same as the Continental Sport Contact 2 - even to the sidewall. Speaking of which, the sidewall on these Accelera's ARE THE BEST I've ever seen on a tire - and, again, almost exactly the same as the Conti SC2's. After 2 weeks of driving, the tires are great. They ride smooth and quiet. Turn in response is crisp and feedback is excellent - almost telekinetic. I tend to drive like a maniac and so far (2 weeks) the tires can handle what I've thrown at them. High speed cornering and straights, weaving in and out thru traffic they ride beautifully even with going +2 on the wheel size and width. Usually with wider tires, understeer occurs but these tires are accurate. I HAVE NOT driven them in the rain or snow. I spend way too much time, money and effort detailing my car to show-room clean and refuse to just drive it in the rain, let alone snow. I have 2 Jeep Grand Cherokees for that. Also, the Mustang has way too much torque to drive in rain/ snow. Even with the brand new 235/50-18 BFG Sport Comp 2's I had mounted on the stock wheels, the Mustang still spun in the rain accelerating from 1st gear. I'm a hardcore auto enthusiast/ experienced DIY mechanic and have run many performance tires on 5 different sports cars: BFG KDW 2, Goodyear Gatorbacks, Firestone SZ50, BFG Sport Comps 2, Pirelli P Zero Rosso, Yokohama's, Falken FK452, Bridgestone Potenza RE050, Dunlop Direzza's, and so on. I can say these Accelera's are EVERY bit as good as any I've driven on and for the price, BETTER. I'd buy these again although I'd like to try the Goodyear F1 Supercar 305/30-20 on the rear wheels and 255/35 front. I'll be back to update my review after 5000/10000 miles although I only put about 5000 miles/ year on this car.

Given 37% while driving a Nissan 370Z (245/40 R19) on a combination of roads for 400 spirited miles
Ok in the wet, but get very unpredictable over 100mph, the front of the car was all over the place at this speed. I live on the Isle of Man where there aren't any speed limits in places, so can test tires at these speeds legally. These were fitted to the car when I bought it, they are cheap and it shows, I will be changing these for Vred's very soon.

Given 71% while driving a Ford Mondeo Titanium X Sport (235/40 R19) on mostly country roads for 1,000 average miles
Just had these fitted all round four weeks ago. Was nervous
having read some reviews but have found them to be
great. Quieter and better ride than the standard
Bridgestone tires and have found no problems with
grip in all weather conditions ... apart from snow.
For everyday steady drive would recommend these
and would buy again.

Given 66% while driving a BMW E46 M3 (225/40 R19) on a combination of roads for 15,000 spirited miles
I work in the motor trade and have the benefit of driving many different vehicles with many different tires. My honest opinion of these is that they are massively under rated.

Dry grip, road noise and fuel economy are comparable to Continental and Michelin pilot sports which i had previously on my M3. In the Wet, the Acceleras are a little less grippy but they are predictable. Contrary to some of these reviews, they will not throw you off the road, unless you have a vehicle defect or a massive lack of driving skills.

They wear excellently, 16k miles from my set on the rear and i drive the car hard. Fronts are half worn in this same time.

Only issue iv had is a crack in the sidewall but probably due to pot holes. When you compare to the fact i had 3 different michelin pilots develop bulges and one continental blow out, these tires have been superb for the money.

No offence but if you only have a normal hatchback or family car you wont need anything better.

Given 66% while driving a BMW 320D (225/45 R17) on a combination of roads for 40,000 average miles
If you're on a budget you'll struggle to get much better than these. I had 255/35/18 on rear e46 320d coupe, with 225/40/18. Rears lasted c20k miles (had two sets) and fronts lasted 35k, so no real worries about wear.

Yes they are not great in the wet but you soon adjust your driving to suit; don't enter roundabouts at speed, keep a little more distance from car in front in heavy rain. In the dry, however, they perform well and don't do anything unexpected.

Now that I can afford a better tire, I pay for it, but if I was strapped for cash then I would go and buy these again, at easily less than half the price of premium tires.

Given 64% while driving a Ford Mondeo 130 TDCi Zetec (235/45 R18 W) on a combination of roads for 9,800 average miles
Fitted to Mondeo 2.0 TDCi at Front and they were BAD maybe because I oversized them to 235/45 instead of standard 225/40. Fitted them at rear and they are perfect now but front must be made with PREMIUM brand for perfect handling.

Given 46% while driving a Vauxhall INSIGNIA 1.8 PETROL (225/45 R17 W) on a combination of roads for 30,000 average miles
I had a brand new pair of these on the front of my insignia when I purchased it and have managed to get 30k out of them which is not too bad for a budget tire.
What is bad is the road noise, the total lack of feedback, and the appalling vibration at moderate and high speed, it was so bad that I thought the wheels had not been balanced correctly, but the maindealer tested this and suggested that the tires had gone "out of round'' after just 5k miles!
Just ordered some Dunlop sp sportmaxx gt 's to replace these awful tires.
Do yourselves a favour, and pay the extra for a brand you can trust.
