Goodyear Vector 4 Seasons Gen 2 Reviews - Page 3

Given 87% while driving a Suzuki Ignis 1.5 GLX VVT 4Grip (185/60 R15 H) on mostly country roads for 12,000 average miles
On my second set of Goodyear Vector 4 Season Gen 2 - previously had them on a Subaru Legacy Tourer. Found them to be great all-rounders so have got them now on a Suzuki Ignis 4Grip.

These tires were excellent in the snow we had early in 2018 - obviously Subaru AWD cars are well-suited to snow but with these tires it was invincible. I was using lanes that only snow ploughs could use and I was able to stop and start on compacted snow/icy hills without any issues.

Sadly my Subaru went to diesel Hell (expensive on-going DPF/EGR issues) and I'm relegated to the Ignis - so I'm hoping the same Goodyear tires will help it punch above its weight in any snow as I have to care for my elderly parents in a hilly area.

First impressions - the steering in the dry is much lighter. (The Michelin Energy ones made it heavy). This might explain the comment others have made about "floaty" steering. On my Subaru it was the same - with Vector 4 Seasons Gen 2 - I couldn't easily sense what the wheels were doing on the snow/ice. However, if you know how to drive on snow, it's not a problem.

They seem to wear well and although you can hear it's a grippier tire, this isn't annoyingly loud - perhaps it sounds "meatier".

I'll keep buying these until Goodyear comes up with a new version. (Kwik Fit often offers discounts of 20% when ordered online so a set of 4 cost me £258 all in.)

Great tire for the little Polo, which has now gone. They kept me moving when others struggled. Will now buy again for the winter months to fit my Golf R Variant.

Given 90% while driving a Nissan Note 1.5 dci (185/65 R15 H) on a combination of roads for 15,000 average miles
Moved over to all seasons because of the potential expense of running two sets of tires with a tire pressure monitoring system. Goodyear Vector 4 Seasons the choice because I find the compromise in winter far greater than any loss of performance in summer. Extremely pleased with these tires as they proved their worth during the 'Beast from the East' when snow was thick on the ground, but the car never lost traction. During the summer there has been no appreciable loss of grip, and of particular note is the excellent wear rate. Fronts are at 15,000 miles with at least 6mm of tread left. Rears seem to have barely worn at all. No hesitation in recommending or saying I would buy again.

Given 81% while driving a Mazda 3 Series (205/55 R16) on mostly town for 3,000 average miles
Tires are very good in wet&snow conditions, but in the summer they feel like low budget tires. Weak dry braking compared to the regular summer tire. Good for daily city diving without speeding. I drove over 3.000 miles for 4 months in all conditions (mud, snow, hot summer days) and they look like New. A little bit noisy - not too much, but a comfortable ride. At the time of purchase they were cheaper than Crossclimate and that's why i decided to buy GY vector 4 seasons 2.

All in all, I recommend them to everyone who doesn't drive much, and who doesn't want to have two sets of tires. If you love fast driving stick to the regular summer tires.

Given 86% while driving a Peugeot 2008 1.6 (225/50 R17 V) on a combination of roads for 60,000 spirited miles
These tires were supplied as standard fit with the car and I was curious as to how well an all-weather tire would fair in general driving conditions, of 50/50 motorway and urban driving winter and summer, I even drove to south France and Spain in 40 degrees, This winter really got to try their effectiveness in snow/ice and was reasonably impressed but tires were getting to end of life so not a fair challenge. I ran front tires for 30k and back ones for 60k before replacing will definitely buy again

Given 83% while driving a Skoda Citygo (165/70 R14 H) on a combination of roads for 4,500 easy going miles
Changed to these tires when my last tires (Continental ecocontact 3 tires) had completed no more than 4500 miles, as they were purely a Summer tire & did not really inspire confidence in the wet. Was also somewhat concerned about how they would perform in more wintery conditions.

Given 87% while driving a Ford Kuga (235/55 R17 V) on mostly country roads for 18,000 spirited miles
Wanted to try all season tire's as I drive on a lot of single track roads during the winter.
Have found them to be very good in the dry, wet and excellent in the snow.
Have pushed these tire's hard in all conditions and have never disappointed.
I drive a SUV so never expect the best road feedback, would buy again without hesitation.

Well bought these vector 4 season gen 2, in the snow I carnt fault them I drove 70 miles needing to get home in the recent snow at 10 o'clock at night. Last 20 miles were through the peak District huge inclines declines many bends, huge snow drifts and I made it with a big sigh of relief braking on snow was like normal braking.looking back at what the tires achieved was phenomenal. Dry weather handling not bad the tires feel very floaty though which I'm not keen on and sometimes going round a bend at speed I'm alittle unsure on them wet weather we have had has been great the way the tires dispel water is good. I've not tried any others so I carnt Compare. How long do I think tgey Will last well 18month if that I reckon but I do do maybe 12 to 15 thousand miles a year. Not bad at all I only paid £126 for two tires fitted and balanced.

Just as good as good winter tires in the cold and wet, better than average summer tires in the dry. Amazing on snow and ice.

Given 67% while driving a Fiat 500 (185/55 R15 H) on a combination of roads for 27,000 spirited miles
Well I've had these on since 2015, covered 21k and Have now been replaced with another all season (Pirelli Cinturato All Season) so feel I can give a fair assessment.

Wet handling is fairly good, no major suprises. Wear is good for all seasons, worn much better than the previous 4seasons gen 1 that were fitted. Snow and ice were impressive, got me around the French highlands and through Austria in the snow with minimal hassle (bar one week where I needed chains but the snow was incredible and even dedicated snow tires wouldn't have done a thing to help)

Only real criticism I can level at them is that they feel incredibly numb at all speeds and all weather conditions, the never give a full feeling of being connected to the road which was a little unnerving but I came to be used to it after a while. Also dry handling is.....odd. They feel very floaty and loose, have had a few too many wheel spins at junctions and have skidded a few times on the same bend in the road I do every day on every tire I've ever had in the last 10 years, this is the only one that's shown this behaviour. They never feel unsafe but don't instil confidence.

While they have done a fair job, with me travelling to Mainland Europe to visit family every winter and travelling through all weathers, I feel that the tires on my wife's panda (Same Pirellis that have replaced these tires on my car) perform better in the dry and a little more feel in all conditions, so I would consider those in the first instance as they seem to be more capable and more enjoyable to drive on. However if you can get the Vector 4Seasons Gen 2 at a good price they are by no standards bad, I just feel you can do a touch better.
