2011 European Summer Tire Test - 195/65 R15

With Spring in the air, ADAC have just published their massive 2011 Summer tire test covering 33 tires! This year they've chosen to test two smaller sizes of tires, 195/65 R 15 V and 175/65 14 T. While these tire sizes are slightly more relevant to the European market compared to the big-wheel obsessed UK, it's still a good indication of who's doing well in 2011.

As usual with ADAC tests, the results are based on pure data with no subjective scores included. The tests are weighted in favour of wet grip, which is awarded 40% of the overall score. A further 20% is given to the dry weather tests, 10% based on how noisy / comfortable the tires are, 10% on the rolling resistance of the tire and 20% based on the wear.

ADAC also included a few extreme budget tires in this test, which aren’t covered by the Tire Reviews database. Unsurprisingly, the performance of these extreme budget tires was abysmal, further highlighting that with tires at least, you do get what you pay for!

Here are the 195/65 R 15 V results. You can view the 175/65 14 T scores here.
