As the popularity of all-weather tires rapidly grows in many areas of North America, Nokian has refreshed its offering to cater to this market. The new Nokian Remedy WRG5 replaces the much loved Nokian WRG4, and offers improved snow and ice traction, and higher levels of wet grip over the WRG4, without sacrificing rolling resistance or dry/wet handling.
As of right now we just have the press information below, but here at Tire Reviews we're going to be pushing to get a test of this against its peers in the emerging all weather segment.
Launch Details
The Nokian Tires Remedy WRG5 stands as a significant advancement in tire technology, catering to the diverse driving conditions encountered throughout the year. Recognising the challenges faced by drivers in winter, this sixth-generation all-weather tire provides a reliable solution.
Unlike standard all-season tires, which are not optimised for colder, snowy conditions, the Remedy WRG5 is a certified four-season tire, indicated by its three-peak mountain snowflake emblem. This certification assures suitability for snowy and slushy roads, in addition to rain and heat. Nokian Tires, with a history of pioneering in this field, launched the first all-weather passenger tire in North America 25 years ago.
The Remedy WRG5 addresses a critical gap in the market: while many drivers use all-season tires, these are not designed for temperatures below 45 degrees Fahrenheit (7 degrees Celsius) or for snow and slush. This tire offers a balanced performance across various weather conditions, ensuring safety and reliability.
Key Features of the Nokian Tires Remedy WRG5:
- Year-Round Traction: The tire's rubber compound remains pliable in cold weather, ensuring consistent traction. The tread design is engineered for effective grip on various surfaces, whether dry, wet, snowy, or slushy.
- Asymmetrical Tread Pattern: This feature enhances the tire's ability to navigate through snow, rain, and slush, while also maintaining comfort and stability on dry roads.
- Aramid Fibre Reinforcement: For the first time in an all-weather passenger tire, the Remedy WRG5 includes puncture-resistant Aramid fibres in all sizes. This addition provides enhanced durability and a Pothole Protection warranty for added peace of mind.
- Sustainability and Durability: The tire is designed with sustainability in mind, evident in its ELECTRIC FITâ„¢ symbol, indicating suitability for electric vehicles. It also comes with a treadwear warranty of 60,000 miles or 100,000 kilometres.
The Nokian Tires Remedy WRG5 is produced in Nokian Tires' North American factory in Dayton, Tennessee. This facility is set to reach its full capacity of producing up to four million all-season and all-weather tires annually by 2024. The Remedy WRG5, available in over 70 sizes ranging from 15 to 20 inches, is exclusive to the North American market and will be available in tire shops in the U.S. and Canada from this spring.
