165/60 15 Tire Review Highlights

Avon ZT7 rated 84% while driving a Peugeot 108
Driving on a combination of roads for 0 average miles
Overall I've been happy with these tires. They've sat quite happily on a little Peugeot 108. I've bought 3 pairs rotating the rears to the front when fronts are worn - ~30k miles a set.

Handling, noise, wet, dry all have been totally fine, even under spirited driving. I've had little hairline cracks appear in the sidewall with 2mm remaining, but forgiveable as the this pair is 3 years old.

Considering these are often 1/2 the cost of Pirelli / Continental but are actually safe to drive unlike the Nakiomo Ditchfinders and other Chinese tat, I think they are a good value proposition.

Would I put these on a Civic Type R to do a lap on the Nuremberg ring, obviously not. But worth a consideration if you want a mid tier option for a std passenger car.

Continental Eco Contact 5 rated 94% while driving a Hyundai Getz
Driving on a combination of roads for 1000 spirited miles
AMAZING tires with superior traction AA even on this small size i was so impressed that this tire has that kind of traction rating! I was pushing hard on them with spirited driving and the handling and braking performance was top notch and of course very pleased with the HUGE fuel economy improvement! One of the best tires i have ever driven...Definitely recommend them and buy again!

Hankook Kinergy Eco 2 rated 79% while driving a Peugeot 108
Driving on mostly town for 7000 easy going miles
Bought a set of those to replace the Continental EcoContact 5 that were fitted from factory to the car and were not really satisfied with even when they were new. With the Hankook the car felt a lot better. Grip in dry was significantly improved and the car didn't slip when starting from a standstill. Wet grip is ok but not superb, although I'm sure it's the roads in my city that are in bad condition that cause the low grip. I don't drive the car aggressively but I had to make occasional evasive maneuvers and emergency braking to which the tires responded safely. The only small disadvantage is the comfort, they feel a little more firm than the Contis. Comfort was also reduced further at temperatures below 10 C. Wear after 1 year and 10.000 Km is non existent, the tires still look like new. I live in northern Greece were the roads are not very grippy and do not cause a lot of tire wear. I would definitely buy them again and would recommend to anyone driving a small city car like the 108, the C1, the aygo or anything similar.

Goodyear EfficientGrip Performance rated 47% while driving a Mazda 6
Driving on mostly motorways for 30000 average miles
The lateral wobble of the tires was sometimes alarming. The tires wear down very quickly. The compound was too soft. Thread fibers were exposed after 30k miles of gentle driving.

Point S Winter Star 3 rated 89% while driving a Peugeot 108
Driving on mostly country roads for 3000 easy going miles
Fitted to a Peugeot 108. Excellent snow tire, much better than the Bridgestones I had before. A bit noisy, but winters always are. Soft sidewalls so very comfortable, but I run these 3psi above normal and they are great. Used all season (3000 miles) and worn down about 1.5mm, so they'll do 3 seasons. I'll but the new model (4) next time, highly recommended.

Riken Maystorm 2 B 2 rated 28% while driving a Toyota AYGO
Driving on mostly country roads for 125 spirited miles
Bought a second hand Toyota Aygo with 'new' front tires on. Dealer fitted. I'd not heard of them but after laughing at the name I thought I'd give them a chance. I had driven around 100 miles in the dry thinking "maybe it feels floaty and odd just because it's a little car on the motorway". Took it for a more serious test drive and although the breakaway characteristics are predictable enough even when fitted to something with steering approaching the jellier end of the spectrum of feedback the road speed at which they gave up was a bit low. Then I tried them in the wet. I have driven 12 miles in the wet on these, and that was enough to book the car in for some other tires. The Aygo has 68 bhp and could set the TCS light off accelerating in 3rd gear. I don't think I've ever come across tires that are so terrible in the wet. The journey back from the tire shop with 2 new Continental Ecocontact 5 tires on was a revelation. More grip, less floaty feel, more steering feedback and less road noise. I can't comment on wear; with only 125 miles driven on then I didn't want to drive on them any more. I wouldn't even put a set of Riken Maystorms on my trailer. Even a wheelbarrow would be questionable.

Continental Eco Contact 5 rated 44% while driving a Toyota AYGO
Driving on mostly town for 13000 easy going miles
Good on dry, mediocre on wet. Fitted to my wife's Toyota Aygo (2015 model) they were starting to show cracks on the sides after just 3 years and 21.000 km. This size of tires under this very light car is made for city trips and low mileage, so should you be able to expect the Continentals to last far more than they've done. Granted, the tread is somewhere around 4.5mm now, so that's not bad, but that means nothing when cracks all around are showing very heavily after just 3 years of Dutch (or UK) weather and I have to replace them. Thinking about replacing them with ADAC's 2018 test winner, the Falken Sincera SN832 Ecorun (with wear the only against it seems) or Toyota's own choice, the Yokohama BluEarth ES32.

Falken EUROALL SEASON AS200 rated 20% while driving a Toyota AYGO
Driving on mostly country roads for 400 average miles
I put these tires under my car a week ago., I used these tires in normal dry condtions. The tires are cheap to buy and not noisy. The problem occured by braking, then these tires are very unstable on a dry asphalted road. They move to the right. Also the back tires are very nervous, not steady on normal conditions. In the corners by dry weather you got a bit of understearing. I changed for comparising these tires for continental summertires and these tires reacted much better on dry conditions. So now i am sure that i will never use these Falken euroseason tires ever again. For the record a mecanic did test these tires and came to the same conclusion, the car is not stable with these tires.

Marangoni 4 Winter rated 97% while driving a Honda Jazz
Driving on mostly motorways for 10000 average miles
Got these for a Jazz originally and they were a massive improvement, driving on snow with these was like driving a car in normal conditions. They got me to work in really treacherous conditions that a car in normal tires would not have done. Swapped them over to the Yaris when the Jazz had to be replaced and only time I really struggled was on soft snow as the 15 inch wheel size is rather wide for soft snow.
