245/70 16 Tire Review Highlights

Cooper Discoverer AT3 rated 80% while driving a Kia Motors Sorento 2.5 XE Manual
Driving on a combination of roads for 7000 easy going miles
I’ve had these Cooper AT3 installed for 6 months now. My initial thoughts and experiences are that these are a great set of tires.
I drive a Kia Sorento with part time 4wd and I do 50/50 road and off road. Dry and mud. I can only say off road these tires haven’t let me down. I’ve driven across Wales in dry and wet conditions and I’ve been very happy with this purchase. They bite well into the mud and get you out of trouble in 4wd. On the road at motorway speeds you can’t really tell they are A/T tires. Only a barely audible humming from the aggressive tread pattern, but you’d really have to pay attention to hear the difference between these and road tires. The only thing I noticed was the slightly softer road feedback through the steering wheel. Even at 35psi the feel of the road is quite soft, but is this because they are A/T tires and not tarmac racing tires? However, this does not affect handling or confidence as they grip the road very well in wet and dry. The soft feel also provides a very comfortable drive on the road.
Yes I will be buying these again when they are approaching 4mm.

Driving on mostly town for 5000 average miles
I bought 4 of the tires at Walmart about two years ago. All 4 tires are wearing out on the outer edge of the tires. I also believe the ride to be much inferior to what I used when I drove much more. I have had them rotated regularly and had a front end alignment which the mechanic noted he made only slight adjustment. Tires only have about 4,000 miles. No joke. I am headed to Walmart. I would NOT buy this tire again.

Pirelli Scorpion All Terrain Plus rated 91% while driving a Mitsubishi Pajero/Montero Sport
Driving on track for 8000 spirited miles
After quite some research, decided on the Pirelli Scorpion AT+ and not regretted it! Really good tires, both on and off road. The first year I had to drive one hour on Motorways to get to our newly purchased farm (Valencia, Spain) then 3km on a gritted forest road and the last 2,5km on the track down to the farm. This track is seriously bad, with deep ruts, bolders, roots and pointy rocks. Inititally I used to drive down in 4x4, but this is not really necessary as these tires have plenty of grip, so in dry weather now driving in 4x2. But, as soon as it rains, the flatter parts of this track get seriously slippery, so always in 4x4. But also then these tires perform really well and you feel safe and confident. We have now been living in the farm for a year and go up and down the mountain at least once a day, but sometimes twice of even three times. Have the tires just over 2 years now and they have done 12.000km, but they still look in pretty good shape, seeing the abuse they get on a daily basis. Whether I would buy them again, depends on what is then available on the market. Tires keep improving all the time. But for now, I could certainly recommend them.

Radar Renegade AT 5 rated 85% while driving a Suzuki Suzuki Grand Vitara 1.9 DDiS
Driving on a combination of roads for 4000 average miles
I was looking for an all-terrain tire that had a 3PMSF stamp and a good reputation for winter conditions, even though several have warned me against all-terrains in winter weather. I must say, I am very surprised (of course in a positive way). Radar Renegade AT5 have completely outdone my old "ordinary" Hankook winter tires from last winter. The car brakes far better on snow now, than it did last winter and it just kicks the snow away, when I get into the deep snow. A bit noisy on the highway if you're driving faster than 110 kph, but it's not louder than the radio. All in all, these are simply the best tires I've ever bought. You get so darn much for the money!

Michelin Latitude Cross rated 73% while driving a Jeep cherokee sport
Driving on mostly country roads for 12000 spirited miles
The tires have excellent wet weather grip on hot mix up and down hills. on road / gravel road performance is good for SUV / 4x4 vehicle. With the grip available the wear isn't that good. If you are only doing 10 -15k km's per year or two, worth the money.

Driving on a combination of roads for 19000 spirited miles
I got my Chevrolet Trailblazer (this the SUV Full 4x4, not the 4WD, this is sold in Australia as Holden Colorado7) with these tires, I was not expecting much from them, after we did a 10K road trip around Saudi Arabia with them I was quite surprised of the off road grip and the feel on rough terrain and highways. We did a very rough descend/ascent on sharp rocks and it only slipped once. we did a lot of Kms on sand and gravel and the tires were looking as new. After 30K kilometers, the tires still look new, some bits missing I guess from some sharp rocks, but in general I'm very happy. I keep them below (5 psi) the specified tire pressure as roads are rough here. Not very noisy and they are great when is raining, we passed over some big puddles at speed and there were no signs of hydroplaning. In general, I give them a good rating, they squeal when turning sharp, but I have never lost control. Summers here are very hot 50+ degrees, and they haven't developed any cracks near the rim, this with in two years. they were new when I got the car. They are not the best for driving on dunes, but they are not the worst, they float quite good when the pressure is down.

Absolutely wonderful on wet and dry roads, it is definitely not looking for seasonal tires, summer / winter tires. Mud performance 70%, snow 75%, wet / dry ground 85-90%

Goodyear Wrangler HP AllWeather rated 50% while driving a Kia Motors Sorento 2.5 XE Manual
Driving on a combination of roads for 2500 spirited miles
Was expecting more from these, they replaced a very old and worn out set of Bridgestone duelers and the only positive is that they are alot quieter. The mk1 sorento is actually pretty quiet at motorway speeds and these tires are H rated which I liked as the car is primarily used on road and at higher speeds. Ride comfort is worse than expected and a drop from the factory settings is required to maintain comfort but at that point Sidewall flex is quite high. I think I have found a middle ground for pressures but again, not as good as I was hoping for. This tire probably works better in a more 'modern' lower profile size. Mpg has not changed appreciably. The car does not feel as confident on wet roundabouts as the old tires, this model runs in rear drive only unless 4wd is selected for off road use. Not recommended for this car and I will be going elsewhere next time if they ever wear out.
