Hi, i have had my IX35 since 2018 that was fitted with a set of new Achilles Desert Hawk HT tires. On occasion we have driven off-road on mild 4*4 terrains and through the light snow we receive during the rare extreme Winters here in the Western Cape region of South Africa. So my experience thus far was indeed satisfactory accept for the low grip on the snow covered terrain creating a slippery scenario. In terms of coverage, now at 55 000 kilometers covered, its time for replacement, however, had the alignment been done regularly I might have extended the period by anther 5000 kilometers.

I used a dessert hawk HT type Achilles tire with a size of 225 55 R18 for 5 years, with a distance of approximately 50,000 km, quite comfortable but rather difficult to balancing. 2 tires have bumps, if they hit a nail or a flat tire, the wall is immediately damaged, the last time I experienced a tear on the surface of the tire because it runs unevenly, dry or wet braking is not good, vibrating at high speed.

Achilles Desert Hawk H/T tires had been installed by a car rental company onto a 2008 Toyota RAV4 all-wheel-drive SUV. Not expecting great performance from an economy brand made in Indonesia, they turned out to be remarkably good (better, in fact, than Dunlops fitted to a new RAV4 by Toyota). The Desert Hawks gave good straight-line stability and a comfortable ride on tarmac, concrete and unpaved roads. Driving appropriately, they had reasonable cornering and braking abilities in dry, wet and gravely conditions. The 4-cylinder engine with automatic transmission and AWD never challenged their grip during acceleration or heading uphill. Whether unloaded, or fully loaded with five people and luggage, these tires were quiet on most surfaces and had no undesirable vibrations.

NOTE: the Desert Hawk H/T reviewed here is the version intended for mostly on-road use. Achilles also makes the Desert Hawk in increasingly aggressive and knobbly A/P, A/T, M/T and XMT versions, which should be chosen with caution for more off-road use, or driving through serious snow or mud.

I fitted four new Achilles Desert Hawk 225/55R18 98V tires to my vehicle in November 2018. The tires have performed very well in wet and dry conditions alike. Road noise is average I would say, compared to some other brands. Drive comfort is good, Overall, I'm happy with the tires quality and performance thus far and they represent very good value for money. If they still represent good value at the time I need to replace them, I certainly will replace them with the same tires again.

Very poor tire, a lot of noise, not very soft compound, wet traction is not very good. Road feedback is not too bad

Driving 2008 ,SUV , Citroen C-Crosser 2.2 HDi (built with engine from MITSUBISHI OUTLANDER) from 90.000 till 120.000km, spirited driving millage,mostly highways, driving around 120-140km/h (sometimes till 160km/h but sometimes 100km/h), all 4 were Desert Hawk. Very unstable, not comfortable nor you have a filling of good control, especially in curves in dry even worst in wet , very noisy, wearing almost none but they felt like plastic tires. Not satisfied at all, I wouldn't recommend buying. Bought Vederstain Sportrac 5, much better but wearing was very fast (especially on the edges) after 22-23.000km (less than 2 years) and they lost their characteristics,but I guess the factor is the fast driving. Looking now amongst Nokian Line SUV, Toyo Proxis CF2 SUV, Goodyear EfficientGrip SUV , Falken Avenzis 510 SUV and Continental SC 6 (last two are favorites)

These were fitted to my range rover when I bought it, having seen the name I was a bit dubious as to their ability. I haven't driven far, but so far so good, they have good traction in wet and dry, with no noticeable wheel spin. The temperature is quiet low at the moment but haven't experienced ice or snow. I think with having 4wd it is helping a little but generally i can't complain. I will give further feed back in a month or so.
