Bridgestone Potenza S001 Reviews - Page 10

Given 70% while driving a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VI (225/45 R17) on mostly town for 0 average miles
Bought my Evolution with these tires already on the car, with approximately 4mm tread remaining.

Dry / Wet Grip: I have had no issues with regards to grip in the dry or wet (when used as fast road tires)

Road Feedback: I found these tires to be very responsive

Progressiveness: I found the tires to be very predictable at their limits and found that I could keep control of the vehicle easily

Wear: I would say the wear is average, however last 1mm have worn down fairly rapidly, but having said that I have had many "spirited" drives in the car.

Comfort: I enjoy the harder sidewalls of the Bridgstone tires however this comes at the prices of comfort. I also found that the tires produce more noise than I would like them to.

Overall: considering the performance and price of these tires I wail definitely buy these again, and would recommend them to any evo owner!

Given 57% while driving a SEAT LEON 1.8TSI (225/40 R18 W) on a combination of roads for 6,000 average miles
These tire were OEM on the car when I bought it and had done 6K miles. I have since put on another 6K. Have no issues with the grip in the wet or dry. Reasonable feel to them. My main issue is the noise level coming from the tires at all speeds. Tire rating shows the dB level to be 73 dB which is too loud particularly on a long run up the M5 - very irritating. The fronts are down to 3-4mm after 11,500 miles so they will be replaced soon. Probably go for Goodyear Eagle F1 Asy 2 (70db) as I have had them before and found them to be pretty good.

Given 97% while driving a Audi S3 (225/45 R18 W) on mostly country roads for 3,000 average miles
Have had these on my Audi S3 for 3000 miles now. Driving through a UK winter but amazing how much more feel these offered than my previous Michelin PS3's.

Pushed them on very cold tarmac and quite progressive when they start to go, wear so far very good as well.

Tires are quite subjective but these have made my S3 a lot more rewarding to drive

Given 77% while driving a Volkswagen Golf (225/45 R17) on mostly town for 25,000 average miles
Came std with my golf 7 GTI. I have rotated them like clockwork and have gotten 40 000km(25000miles) out of them. I have abused these tires in off-road conditions as I go to many music festivals which are hosted on farms (gravel roads, rocky terrain, thick tree roots). No punctures to date. A good all round tire. A bit noisy. Good ride comfort at normal speeds. Would buy again.

Given 79% while driving a Volvo C30 SE Sport 2.0TD (225/40 R18 W) on a combination of roads for 25,000 average miles
After a year of driving on a set of 4 S001's I can honestly say they are a brilliant tire. Plenty of dry grip, great in the wet, handled one winter with a sprinkling of snow well.

25,000 miles in and the fronts need replacing and will be replaced with exactly the same tires.

Even without the rubber, still grip in the road...

Pros: Good dry grip
Excellent rim protection from thick side wall

Cons: Wet grip on some surfaces
Comfort and noise could be better

Given 77% while driving a Subaru Forester sti (225/45 R18 V) on mostly country roads for 5,000 spirited miles
Decided to go with the S001 as my preference in tires is a primarily a stiff sidewall, and Bridgestones tend to have this. The S001 certainly has this which translates to a nice direct & tight feel :)

A standout feature of the tire is wet performance, which quite frankly is eyebrow raising, especially in standing water. Confidence is immense with totally predictable progression. The centre channels are huge which must drive water out. When driving at higher speeds in the wet, a huge trail of water spray can be seen in the rear mirror.

Dry performance is very good, . I have an uprated rear arb fitted which gives better balance, with oversteer if provoked, again with reliable progression.

The only downside is wear rate, which has been quite alarming. However, given all the other standout attributes, the fierce wear rate seems a fair trade off

Reassuring safety, high confidence levels, and will buy again. Limited choices available in this size tire

Given 79% while driving a Honda Civic 1.8 5 door (225/45 R17) on a combination of roads for 27,000 spirited miles
Lasted around 27k miles after rotating the tires from the back to the front. Tires balding on the inner edge of the front tires.

Given 34% while driving a Ford Mondeo Titanium X (225/40 R18) on a combination of roads for 5,000 spirited miles
I was led to believe that these Bridgestone's would be a better all round tire than the Khumo tires they replaced, in fact they are total rubbish! The wear rate is awful on my Mondeo and the road noise is twice as bad. When you take into considderation the high cost and the fact they don't hold the road very well (slightly better in wet), i would not buy these again. It appears you buy a name and not a good tire.

Given 84% while driving a Audi A4 B5 1,8T Sport (225/45 R17) on a combination of roads for 12,000 average miles
Added 4 of these to my audi a4 quattro sport 1.8 turbo. Bought oct 11. 1st winter was great in the snow did a pretty good job condsidering. 2nd winter after 12k miles approx still had reasonable grip.
Nearly 2 years on the tires are starting crack / perish in the water channels fronts are edging to the twi rears are holding out pretty well apart from the cracking.
Good grip in the wet and dry copes well with mud and snow
Would buy again

Given 51% while driving a Audi allroad 4.2 (225/45 R17) on a combination of roads for 17 average miles
I put the Bridgestone S001's on my Audi allroad v8 quattro and they have only lasted 28,000km to the wear indicators.
-Wet and dry grip are excellent
-Ride comfort is very harsh
-Tires wear very quickly but evenly on the quattro (treadwear rating 280 no surprises).
-I would recommend these tires for track and street cars who want good grip that don't mind a stiff/harsh ride, poor tire wear and a high price.
