Given 48% while driving a Mercedes Benz A45 (235/35 R19 W) on mostly town for 8,000 average miles
chunks of rubber flew off the inside edge on the motorway. Car had no faults and was well serviced. The rest of the tire had 5-6mm across the tread. Took them all off and replaced with Pirelli as no taking the risks of dangerous tires. Seen a few other threads with this happening so not a one off. Poor show Dunlop!

Given 59% while driving a Honda VTR 1000 FireStorm (180/55 R17 W) on mostly country roads for 2,650 spirited miles
Had these on my 99 Honda Firestorm.
Ok tire but a bit sloppy in the wet and feel numb and dull in the
Dry. Not a bad tire by no means but little feedback and only mid-level grip.
Ok for mile munching but can be a little noisy at times.
Tires have about 1/3 life left in them but I'm looking at changing already as I'm beginning to lose faith in them especially as winter is coming!

Given 73% while driving a SEAT Toledo (215/45 R16) on a combination of roads for 10,000 spirited miles
I am driving (Seat Toledo 2014.) on sport maxx about 15.000 km, on dry roads tires are ok, handling is good, on hard brakings abs reacts earlier than i expect. On wet roads I have feeling that car is often on the edge, not satisfied how tires act. Not comfortable tire, but have great lateral "shield", saved wheel rim once after was pierced. For lasting - medium rating.

Given 69% while driving a Skoda Fabia vRS (205/40 R17) on a combination of roads for 50,000 spirited miles
These came with my new car. A decent tire in my opinion in terms of grip. Although I didn't push them very hard for many miles, cornering & handling in dry are very good when reaching its limits, even in the very slippery ( not wet ) Greek roads. Feedback is not on par but I believe you can blame my car for this. In wet is almost as good. I didn't have any issues. But when it comes in terms of comfort and noise things change dramatically. Too hard for me ( unbearable in almost everywhere Greek bumpy roads ) and almost as noisy. For this reason I won't buy them again. Replaced them with Adrenalins RE002 and saved my back. But the later have grip issues in low friction tarmac.

Given 79% while driving a Volkswagen Polo 1.4 TDI (225/45 R17) on a combination of roads for 6,000 spirited miles
Came standard on VW Polo 2016 model. Decent in dry conditions, not so in the wet. I feel confident in dry grip, and they are preety silent, and confortable. In wet however I don't feel confident. Hill starts sometime end up in wheelspin. Wear seems allright on light car such as VW Polo after 1 year.

Polo !.6 with factory low profile tires
Having previously had Continental tires on the car two sets covering 56.000 miles, I was recommended
to try Dunlop SP Sport Maxx Better handling in the wet and a lot cheaper than The previous brand.
Well after two months and 3.000 miles a bulge appeared on the drivers side front, turns out to be impact
damage.. had to buy another new tire.. 6th March notice the passenger side has gone the same ...
no doubt they will say the same again..
These tires are not fit for purpose ... I am a mature owner and driven on normal British roads and not hit any major
potholes, I would have been better of paying the extra for the Continental as after replacing two tires the cost
at £216.00 .. I am quids out of pocket... Moral of the Story if you've got something with proven track record, stick with
it and dont buy Dunlop SP Sport Maxx

Given 84% while driving a Lexus IS250SE (245/45 R17 W) on mostly motorways for 60 spirited miles
Traded in rears at 78,000 kms and 4 years (front replaced at 60,000kms with poor alignment.). My Lexus and I loved the tires. I am considered to be an aggressive driver so I am not kind to tires. Good grip wet and dry. You need to be a little careful of keeping alignment good as they wear quickly if out of kink. Tried to buy again but no longer offered. See how the Super Maxx 050 goes.

I kept a track on the wear on my Dunlops (Dunlop SP Sport MAXX 255/35R20 97 Y XL J) - they were fitted on 14 Nov 2014 when the car had 77,734KM ... today it had 105,300KM ... so I managed to get 27,566km (thats 17,128 Miles for our UK viewers) out of them ... I'd consider my driving style as slightly competitive at the lights but not crazy aggressive. But I do like to feel the full power of the car from time to time. The car is an XF S 2009 which I mostly drive in standard D mode (the odd time I put on S mode and Dynamic but maybe once in a three month period) ... if it was summer I could probably squeeze a few more miles out of them and maybe get it to 32,000KM before they would be close to the legal minimum.

In terms of the performance of the tire itself. Road noise levels were pretty good without being stellar. Handling was good overall, I rarely felt out of control and only lost the back end a few times in the wet.

So overall I'm neither happy nor unhappy with this wear ... I'm not sure how I should feel, but I think I'll try something else either way.

Given 57% while driving a Jaguar XK8 (285/30 R20 W) on mostly motorways for 6,000 average miles
These were fitted to a jaguar xk 4.2l and are the jaguar recommended tire. Overall comfort, noise level and grip were good but the most significant failing was on wear. They only lasted 6,000 miles before they were below the legal limit. This was after normal usage and mainly motorway travel. I am not a boy racer (I am over 60) or a top gear presenter.
I sent them back to dunlop who tested them and confirmed that there was nothing wrong with the rubber compound and that they appeared to show normal signs of wear. i.e. not under inflated or tracking out (this had been done when the tires were fitted) or excessive driving.
Therefore, I am left with the conclusion that this is the expected mileage to get out if these tires. I have now changed to Pirelli.

Great tire, handles well on the road and is comfortable in the wet. Would buy again...

This is a great tire!

It's not cheap, but it grips well on Mk4 Mondeo 140 and the reduction in road noise is significant. Also the comfort or the ride is improved.
BUT....... the wear is terrible!! a year in and less than 8000 miles and they're about done.

If money was no object, I would buy these again in a heartbeat, but it is and there is no way I can justify the expenditure for miles traveled

Given 54% while driving a Volkswagen Polo BlueGT 6R (215/40 R17) on a combination of roads for 28,000 average miles
These tires, 215/40 R17, came with the car, a Polo BlueGT and whilst they're good in the dry, are pretty much a let down in every other regard, excepting possibly wear. After around 28,000 miles, there's about 3-4mm left. Putting the power on in a corner, it is quite easy to lift a back wheel off the ground, but without power to pull the car through, the under steer is terrible. I am not confident with these tires in the wet and once the temperature falls below 5 or so degrees, there is no grip at all except on a totally dry surface (hence the winter tires). The Polo chassis probably doesn't help, but I have driven other Polo 6R's (loan cars) that felt more sure footed.
These tires give the car a very firm and jittery ride, don't react well to surface imperfections and so noisy, even winter tires (Goodyear Ultra 9) are noticeably quieter.
So, I've had enough of them and will be replacing the 17 inch wheels with 16 inch in order to change to slightly narrower but thicker and (thankfully) quieter tires.
