Methodology & Configuration
Scoring Process
  1. Collect Test Data: Gather results from professional tire tests across multiple publications. Minimum 1 test(s) required.
  2. Normalize Positions: Convert test positions to percentile scores using exponential weighting (factor: 1.2).
  3. Apply Recency Weighting: More recent tests are weighted higher with a decay rate of 0.95.
  4. Incorporate User Reviews: Factor in user review data (minimum 5 reviews). Weight: 15%.
  5. Bayesian Smoothing: Apply Bayesian prior (score: 7, weight: 1.5) to prevent extreme scores with limited data.
  6. Calculate Final Score: Combine all components using normalization factor of 1.1. Max score with limited data: 9.5.

Top 3 Federal SS535 Reviews

Given 63% while driving a Toyota 2006 Avalon (195/55 R15 V) on a combination of roads for 3,000 spirited miles
Have them on my AE82 FXGT race car for driving to and from events. With the cars suspension setup etc I needed a good quality tire for road use, as bad tires made it handle terribly. The 535 has worked fine as a road tire, good grip and very progressive.
It is a bit noisy although that hasn't bothered me. Feedback is good, bit of a stiff sidewall so not the smoothest either

Can't say much about wear, mine are pretty camber worn.

Given 100% while driving a Smart (205/50 R15) on a combination of roads for 26,000 spirited miles
It's 12th b'day is Sep '15]. The mid engine 699cc+turbo moves it well. Mileage is 72,500[it'd clocked 14,000 before me].
The tire, supplied S/H by my local scrapyard with few choice's, was fitted
(Jun '11] to the rear[drive] axle, for £20!
The Federal compliments the Roadsters firm suspension and handling, and it's done 26,000 miles since, that is impressive.
Fuel has averaged 52mpg pa[winter lower/ summer higher].
[NB Its a Cobra VHP on t'other side!]

Given 61% while driving a Toyota MK3 MR2 Roaster (205/50 R15) on mostly country roads for 15,000 average miles
My car is a Toyota MR2, with these tires all-round. they have done 35000km now and whilst they have worn evenly and still have another 10000km in them, they have to be the noisiest tires I have ever had the displeasure to own. I have religiously looked after their balance, and every 10000km get all 4 wheels aligned. One thing I can do is 'rotate' front to backs because the MR2 has smaller wheels on the fronts..

Given 80% while driving a Mitsubishi Lancer VR Sportback (225/55 R16 V) on a combination of roads for 45,500 spirited miles
These tires grip very well in the dry, and you can feel when they are at thier limit in the dry as well before they let go.

However in the wet, they are very average, generally have to warm up the tires before you get decent grip out of them, otherwise they don't grab when cold and in rain and there's not near as much progressiveness in grip limit as in the dry.

The tires lasted 38,000km's on a CJ MY09 Lancer, spirited road driving as well as 1 track day 3 laps. Very long and hard wearing, but the grip towards the end of the wear is not good, especially in wet.

They are a harder compound tire than most, so comfort is average, and tire noise is average. But good considering the dry grip you get out of them.

I've already bought a second set, because for the amoount of kms you get for the dry grip, the price is excellent.
