Inspired by advertising and marketing, I bought these tires. Disappointing. The car gained regression and mainly oversteer. In turns I'm afraid to get in. Braking at high speeds is good. Also in the wet the tires respond quite well. But they are certainly not as good as they are trying to convince us. Of course I will not buy them again and I do NOT suggest them.

Given 45% while driving a Skoda Octavia vRS (225/40 R18 W) on a combination of roads for 500 average miles
I have had these for a month, & want to compare to the Asymmetric 2 which were fitted on my old Skoda Fabia Mk II.

Pros:
+ Absorbs bumps incredibly well, best tire I have used for this. Great for cars with hard suspensions like mine
+ Good rim protector, better than the Asymmetric 2. I know some have said the reverse, but maybe I have a revised version of the Asymmetric 3
+ Good composed ride on the motorway, quiet as well

Cons:
- Far too numb steering feel compared to the Asymmetric 2. Very floaty, difficult to tell what your tires are doing. Even my budget tires I previously had fitted provided better steering feel
- Poor in the wet compared to the Asymmetric 2 which was a lot better. Driving on the motorway in the rain was a bit nervous as I thought the car was going to lose grip when changing lanes
- Already had one slight moment of loss of traction in dry weather
- No improvement in steering precision compared to the Asymmetric 2

Overall: I had high expectations of these as the Asymmetric 2 was the best tire I ever used. Sadly, the Asymmetric 3 does not live up to its predecessor. I can see what Goodyear have done for these, which was place comfort above performance. These remind me of my Pirelli P Zero Neros which had the same ride quality & I did not like. What I will be doing is looking at getting some Asymmetric 2s from elsewhere as my local tire garage no longer has them in stock, or go for something from Continental or Michelin.

Compared with the F1 Asym 2s, much better wet grip (seldom any slip when pulling out of a T-junction in wet, unlike before). Braking is very reassuring too. Rim protection has done a perfect job in light of some really clumsy kerb strikes. One welcome improvement: if I parked when the Asym 2s were hot, when they cooled, the first 5 minutes of the next drive was accompanied by some vibration through the wheel, not with these though. The main negative is the wear, say over 2mm in 6k miles, but cheaper than an alloy refurb and recovery from a ditch.

Given 94% while driving a Alfa Romeo MiTo (215/45 R17 W) on a combination of roads for 5,000 spirited miles
Bought 2 of these tires to replace my old front Michelin Primary, and they are fantastic!

Dry grip is amazing. This set of tires already did 1 track day, and while I was there, they never lost the grip, even tough the temperature of the track was very high.

Wear so far is also good. Even with my driving style, they shows no signs of wear.

Recommended!

Given 90% while driving a Volkswagen Golf (225/45 R17) on mostly town for 5,000 average miles
I ve used them on the front for about 8000km. For the first 6000km the grip in wet and dry was excellent, but afterwards their grip and handling became a little less assured as the wear increased. One or two times aquaplaning happened when the tires were cold. Overall, these tires are quiet and comfortable and have nice grip and road feedback. They are better than Michelin PS3 in all aspects.

Given 83% while driving a Fiat Abarth Grande Punto (215/45 R17) on mostly country roads for 2,000 spirited miles
got 4 of these on price and reported grip: I've had Goodyears before (on another Fiat) and thought they a little 'soft' but I thought I'd chance these this time on the GPA. These are soft, yes, BUT the grip is simply phenomenal. I can live with the soft nature of the tire as the grip is so good. They are miles better than the Pirelli ZeroNeros which the car came (wet and dry) with and in a completely different league altogether than the Uniroyal Rainsport 3s I initially replaced those with. I've binned the Rainsports, but will keep the Goodyear F1 A3 until they need replacing. At that stage I may switch to Michelins... but the Goodyears are really good if you can put up with the soft sidewalls. Once you get used to the slight pitch - the car is moving on the tires but the car is NOT moving on the road - you can push and push these tires and they're great fun.

Given 81% while driving a Volkswagen Transporter (255/45 R18) on a combination of roads for 500 spirited miles
Replaced the front 2 tires with these, they were slightly quieter than my Hankooks. Gripped well on the muddy single track road which I use regularly as well as motorway, but within 6 weeks I had managed to damage the side walls on both beyond repair (I've not lost a tire to sidewall damage for 30 years). On closer inspection I could see that the sidewall was very soft and had very little reinforcing which is why I guess thy're quieter.

Given 47% while driving a Toyota 86 GT (225/40 R17 R) on mostly country roads for 3,000 spirited miles
Had them on the rear of my GT86 and they were useless compared the Yokohamas that were on there. Yes they were slightly quieter but the grip was a lot less. I moved them straight to the front of the car. Now there is not as much grip up front but thats better than death trap at the back. Now I can just feel them understeering in the fast bends where the yokohamas just gripped. Will go back to the yokohamas next set and hope these wear out soon.... The shoulder of the tire is starting to show premature wear as i drive them hard. This did not happen on the previous Yoko's and these f1's were £15 more each!! I would not buy them again due to the reduced grip they give me.

Given 93% while driving a BMW Z4 E86 3.0si Coupe (225/40 R18) on a combination of roads for 4,000 spirited miles
Switched from the original Bridgestone run-flats on my Z4 to these Goodyears and it felt like I 'd bought a better car. Huge improvement in every respect. Tire noise and ride comfort are massively better, and the handling and control are in a different league. Under full-bore acceleration I can provoke some squeal and maybe the odd shimmy on dry roads, but otherwise grip is first class too. Wet grip is fine too.

Can't say much about wear yet, but they're working well for me.

I've been running Goodyear F1 Asymmetric 2's for the past number of years and I'm now on F1 Asymmetric 3's. Both tire are outstanding. I've had other brands in the past and nothing can touch there performance. I converted a friend of mine who has an Audi A6 Quattro and he too wouldn't now touch anything else. I don't understand why people skimp on tire as its the quality of tire that keeps you safely on the road

Given 97% while driving a Vauxhall Insignia CDTI SRI 160 (225/45 R17) on mostly country roads for 10 average miles
Been through many brands, lots of mid-range such as Kumho and Vredestein, - all very good but never seemed to get past 10k on the front. Fitted the Assymetric 2 to my Insignia VXLine in 19s, superb all round with 25k covered on the front. Now fitted the 3 and seems marginally better. Although looking at another £20 per wheel, they result to be a much more cost effective option with far better handling, noise and performance characteristics. Superb tire
