Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S Reviews - Page 10

Given 72% while driving a Jaguar XF S (255/35 R20) on a combination of roads for 1,000 average miles
Definite improvement over the OEM Dunlops for grip, wet grip in particular. Haven't had the TC come on at all since getting this installed. I don't really push the car but you can tell that they do grip very well.

I don't feel that they suit the car. The road noise is no better (actually a bit worse over concrete sections of the motorway), comfort is improved a touch and MPG is a little worse. With a cruiser like the XFS noise, comfort and MPG would be better.

Wish I'd of gone for Goodyear Asym 3's, they'd be more comfortable, better economy and quieter while still retaining 95% of the grip (although not the handling from what I've read), however if I had an XFR (or XFR-S) the Michelin's would be the way to go. The V8 noise would help drown out the tire noise, and would really benefit from the improved grip.

My XFS will be getting Goodyear's next time, my XK Dynamic R will be getting Michelin's (against the OEM Pirelli).

Given 97% while driving a Audi S3 (235/35 R19 W) on a combination of roads for 500 spirited miles
Well I did not know a tire can change a car so much. These tires are in a different league to the continental contact 5p that was fitted to the Audi S3 Saloon as standard. Tires change the car completely so much quieter and the feed back is amazing. The car even looks amazing with these tires fitted. Will defetnly fit these tires all the time now. Please try these for you self as it's such a eye opener.

Given 93% while driving a SEAT Leon 2.0 TFSI (225/40 R18 W) on mostly country roads for 3,000 easy going miles
Before I had the Vredestein Ultrac Vorti, with whom I found it very well, but I wanted to change on the advice of my tire men. The tires are very similar, and both are wonderful tires, both dry and wet, the only difference there is that the Michelin keeps the road little better but they have softer sides and are therefore not quick In steering gear change direction is not accurate.
I recommend Comunqie even if I prefer the ultrac vorti for my stile driving

Given 99% while driving a Lexus RCF (225/45 R17) on a combination of roads for 1,500 spirited miles
Installed the PS4S on my Lexus RCF. Visuals are noticeably nicer as it has the fluffy sidewalls like the cup 2 tires. Dry grip has significantly improved with great feedback. Wet grip and feedback is also amazing. A very noticeable improvement over the Super Sport is the reduced tire noise.
Highly recommended. Would definetly get these tires again in the future.

Given 100% while driving a BMW Alpina B5 2006 (285/30 R20 W) on a combination of roads for 2,000 average miles
Compared to my previous 19" rims and Continental SportContact 6 tires, these Michelin tires are more comfortable (despite lower tire profile) and more silent. Very satisfied with these tires.

Given 100% while driving a BMW M3 (275/35 R19 W) on mostly country roads for 1,000 spirited miles
Replaced conti 5p's with these and more than happy. Seem a better tire all round especially in the wet. Not as important but like how the tire wall lettering is black highlighted like the sport cup 2's. I'd say they feel almost like the cup 2's in the dry but with more grip in the wet.

BMW M3 (245/35 R19) on a combination of roads for 100 average miles
Just changed from Cup 2 to PS4S because of wet road performance.
Wet grip is sure better than the Cup 2, but big difference about the tire responsiveness.
Comfort and noise Is better also on PS4S.
Will give a more detailed review later.

Mercedes Benz C63 AMG (255/30 R19 W) on a combination of roads for 1,500 spirited miles
I previously had conti 5's on my C63, and anyone who has driven one in the wet will know that just pulling out of junction as lightly as possible will result in wheel spin and looking like a boy racer. Since I put the Pilot Sport 4's on I no longer see the traction control light come on in the wet. It is light and day better than the conti 5's in the wet. I had got to the point where I thought about not driving it until the weather improved so bad where the contis. The comfort has definitely improved and soaks up pot holes much better and less crashy of speed humps etc. It's also quieter than the contis I can't comment on wear as I've only had them a short while. Grip in the dry is phenomenal but I can't comment on how they perform on the limit as I haven't tracked it yet. I can't recommend these tires enough, I've never been so impressed by tires.

Given 100% while driving a Audi RS3 8V (235/35 R19 W) on a combination of roads for 1,500 spirited miles
I replaced the front tires with these just a few months ago.
I'm absolutely amazed by them - they grip at a level I didn't think was possible. In the dry they seem to hook in and never let go and apparently are just as good in the wet as I've yet to find their limit. Launching the car, the slip at the front is vastly reduced, and braking performance is amazing.
In terms of feedback and cornering, where on previous tires I would have found understeer easily enough if I had pushed hard in the bends, this has now completely gone now matter how ham fisted I try to be. Even in the wet, the rear is stepping out long before the front does. As with most Michelins, they have great positive turn-in and decent feedback through the wheel. I can't talk of how they act at the limit as, like I say, I have struggled to reach it on public roads, but you can feel the tire loading round corners and get a good idea of how the grip is being used. I suspect at the limit, these will be progressive and easily modulated.
These are not neccessarily quieter in absolute db than other tires I've had on, but the actual pitch of the noise is relatively low and so they appear much less intrusive and subjectively are pretty quiet. They ride well on the roads and have good compliance and comfort - better than anything else I've had.

In case I wasn't clear enough - these are amazing. They are brilliant all round and you compromise nothing in the process. The only downside is the price, but frankly, they're worth it.

Replaced the Pilot Super Sports on my F80 M3 and it's better in every way. The wet grip is insane, it's like you're driving in the dry. Best tire on the market.
