Michelin Primacy HP Reviews - Page 6

Given 56% while driving a Citroën C4 Grand Picasso (215/45 R17) on mostly town for 22,000 easy going miles
My car was perfect on the first set of the previous version of these but the 'slightly updated' ones were SO BAD that I had several visits to the main dealer for road noises. It seemed the right thing to do to replace originals with the same but it has been a HUGE £600 mistake. After giving up on the noises being anything else I was forced to contemplate spending another £600 to eliminate tires as the scource with the possibility of wasting it if the new ones were the same. I persevered for 24 months to get value from them and replaced them with Nexen Nblu eco's yesterday. Straight away my car is completely TRANSFORMED back to how it was originally. I cannot believe that these tires could be so much better for half the price. Shame on you Michelin what did you change in the formulation or tread pattern of these tires to make them so poor. If there was a faulty one or batch this is equally poor as they are a high end tire. I am so glad to get my car back as it nearly put me off this model as it has ruined my enjoyment of the car for two years.

Given 84% while driving a Skoda Octavia estate (225/45 R17) on a combination of roads for 14,000 spirited miles
Had these on the front and bought them again since I was so impressed.

The wear isn't amazing with a heavy 2.0 diesel engine sitting on the fronts, especially with spirited driving.

They excel in road feedback being very positive on turn in and on all cambers.

Wet and dry grip is good and provides great confidence. Noise is kept to a min as well even when pressing ahead.

Down side, not a cheap tire, especially since it has been around a while now.

Will buy again with no hesitation.

Given 73% while driving a Kia Motors Carens crdi (225/55 R17 V) on mostly motorways for 25,000 average miles
Good tire. Definitly doesn't highlights for high grip, but perhaps it's due to the soft suspension and center of mass distribution. Good feedback although Kia's electric direction.
A medium grip in the wet.
This tire warns honestly
For my car I consider it expensive, really it isn't worth

Given 54% while driving a Honda Accord CTDi (225/45 R17 W) on mostly country roads for 10,000 easy going miles
Driving a Honda Accord big heavy estate around mostly country lanes with a few lengthy trips a few times a year , about 10,000 miles/year, and the front tires have barely made one year. For the price you pay it aint worth it. The old ones a previous owner put on lasted since 2009 and I think he was a rep.with a high mileage. Apparently Michelin have made them softer in theory to grip better, but maybe they just weren't selling enough?

Given 87% while driving a Honda Accord Euro (225/45 R18) on mostly town for 32,000 average miles
Got them as original equipment and have been very pleased. Relatively quiet and track well in dry or wet. Only minor drawback is that now at 50K+ kms they are almost down to the wear indicators and I've found out how much they will be to replace. I'll push them to the limit so probably another 2-3000 kms.

Given 46% while driving a Audi A4 (225/45 R17) on a combination of roads for 16,000 spirited miles
Had theese fitted after set of KUMHO KU31, thought it will be better because of premium brand and good rep. WHAT A MISTAKE! I found KU31 way better in wet and dry. Honestly with primacy hp I was afraid of driving in wet weather. There is no joke when you experience aquaplaning on highway doing 140+km/h.
Also cornering in wet gave me serious concerns because my car drifted as it was rear wheel driven... and its not!
Wear on the other hand is better. Noise level somewhere in middle - not loud and not quiet. This was my 5th set of tires fitted to my car and every set was different brand. BFgoodrich,Dunlop,Goodyear,Kumho,Michelin... Must say that I was most satisfied with Kumhos because of budget vs. performance ratio (also with two sets of tires for same price as premium branded one you can pull out twice the mileage.
With theese tires I lost my trust in Michelin completly. Won't buy again. Maybe in future and certainly other model.

Given 91% while driving a Alfa Romeo 159 (225/50 R17 W) on mostly motorways for 35,000 average miles
An excellent tire. I always felt secure under all conditions. Lasted incredibly - 57000 km (the 2 rear ones could do probably 20000 km more, I changed them). I replaced with the same model in order to use the spare tire. If I keep the same car, next ones will be surely Michelin (Primacy 3).

Given 78% while driving a Peugeot 508SW HDi estate with 17" wheels (225/55 R17 W) on a combination of roads for 2,000 average miles
These big Michelins were superb on a large Peugeot 508SW estate car, with a very torquey turbo Diesel engine. They inspired confidence whether it was just me driving alone, or fully loaded with five on board and family stuff loaded in the back. There was plenty of grip for cornering, acceleration, and braking whether the road was dry, damp, or soaked with rain; they tracked straight and without vibration on the autostrada-motorway, and made it easy to guide this big car around sweeping bends on narrow country roads. I did not drive this rental car in snow or ice, but I would expect to change from the Primacy HP to winter tires before the likelihood of such conditions, if I owned the car, because the tread pattern and rubber compound seem to be optimized for spring, summer and autumn. They are very quiet at all reasonable road speeds and on most surfaces; no squealing. The only time they lost traction was when turbo boost came online while heading uphill in first gear (the most difficult situation for front-wheel-drive), during which time they scrabbled for grip for a few seconds but continued to haul the heavy car uphill with a lot less drama than I have experienced with other, lesser tires. Michelin Primacy HP may be expensive, but you should get as good as you pay for and be suitably encouraged to maintain correct pressures and rotation to maximize their life.

Given 85% while driving a Citroën C5 (215/55 R16 V) on mostly country roads for 7,500 average miles
Had those tires fitted when I bought my second hand Citroen C5 Diesel.
Excellent feel & smoothness at almost every situation dry or wet.
It is, probably, the best tire I had in years.
Tomorrow I'll fit the newer Primacy line model the Primacy 3.
I hope it's on par if not better than it's predecessor.
Never really liked Michelin, but that tire was a mind changer.
