Pirelli PZero Nero Reviews - Page 8

Given 81% while driving a Volvo T5R Estate (215/45 R17 W) on mostly motorways for 80,000 spirited miles
In use on both a Volvo 850 T5-R Estate and a Saab 900 2.3E convertible.

Don't understand folks who say these tires are rubbish.
Good handling and grip on both dry and wet. Reasonable feedback, very comfortable and not noisy. Wear is good, considering a spirited driving-style. Definately buy again (both cars are on second set).

great tire for the summer, but not ideal for the winter - i say that, but if you're careful when the weather is treacherous, then these tires will certainly hold up ok. wet grip is just ok, can get a bit slippy if pushing on. dry grip is nothing short of excellent. low noise and great feedback. wear is surprisingly good for a tire with such a soft compound - i've had mine on for 17 months (15000 miles) and i've still got around 4mm of tread depth left all round, which isn't bad for a powerful FWD drive car (although it pays to swap fronts to backs every 5000/6000 miles). i would buy again, but my friend who works in a tire workshop has recommended the bridgestone re050a for when i need to change, so i'll maybe give them a go...

Amazing tire in the dry. Pulling excess of 1.4g's through corners without loosing grip. Massive improvement on braking distance.
In the wet they do not feel great. They tend to loose grip easily and you really do have to ease up with them. First 2000km they felt dangerous in the wet and I avoided any sprinted driving.
Under normal driving circumstances they are an excellent tire and I would highly recommend them.

Given 24% while driving a Peugeot 207 GT HDi (205/45 R17 R) on mostly town for 20,000 average miles
Pirelli Zero Nero were fine when new but from half worn (about 10000m), were less than comfortable with grip and were completely useless in snow. Just prior to replacement (19000m - but still well legal) they lost all grip in even dry conditions. These are tires I would never use again and would advise to avoid at all costs.

Overpriced, not bad in the dry but boarderline useless in the wet the wear is also quite poor. I took one of these tires of the alloy to repair some damage to the alloy. After 4 weeks the tire had visibly gone out of shape, might just be me but mine wear unevenly. My car has had the tracking checked and tire pressures maintained but tires still wear unevenly. I was dead proud when I brought these paid a good price for em too. Now I just feel like a mug who got done still you live and learn, buy again? Not a chance prefer to fit Nankang and save the money to pay for my impending funeral, sorry Nankang!

Given 84% while driving a Alfa Romeo MiTo (205/45 R17) on a combination of roads for 20,000 spirited miles
Will have to disagree with the previous review - very good grip in the dry, but have also found that grip in wet/snow is good too.
During a VERY hard winter in the north of Scotland, my little MiTo was the only car able to get out of our street - great grip on compacted snow/ice.

Great handling in the corners (lots of 'spirited' runs into the countryside), and gives good road feedback.
I've had 20,000 miles out of my front pair, and the back's are only halfway worn.
Can't argue with that - great tire for the price, and will be buying again!

Given 46% while driving a Skoda Fabia vRS (205/45 R16) on a combination of roads for 600 spirited miles
My car came with a set of Continental Sport Contact II's, which were fine, I was very happy with them. These were replaced with a set of Michelin Pilot Exalto II's, which were even better, a very good tire. I had to have two new tires on the back of the car, and the lease company fitted Nero's, with the older Michelins staying on the front. The car is now borderline dangerous, and can no longer be driven with any confidence or in a spirited manner. Even pottering around it feels as if I am driving on a diesel spill or on icy roads in mid winter. My car is a front drive diesel, and its gone from being naturaly understeery to massively oversteery. As for driving fast? Not on these, forget it. Motorway journeys have also changed from being a non event to a terrifying ordeal of sweaty palmed concentration, fear and horror.

I am genuinely, jaw-droppingly shocked at just how bad these tires are, they have ruined the car for me. They have been put on the front temporarily, where they are just as bad as they were on the rear, but at least the car is now safe and secure. They will be replaced as soon as possible.

They say that new tires should always go on the back, my experience with these tires has demonstrated to me 100% the wisdom in that. However, it's not so much that new tires should go on the back, more that the best tires should go on the back. Whether they are new or not is irrelevant.

This is not down to them simply needing to be bedded in, and scrubbing off the mould release agent after a few miles either. They are just terrible.

Very good grip on hot and dry roads, average on wet, useless on snow. They wear out very quickly!

Tires came as standard on the car. I'm not a Lewis Hamilton wannabe and i'm not captain slow but 8000 miles? please??
Dry weather they are ok to good, wet weather they seem to cover themselves in butter. Can't wait to replace them!!!

Given 43% while driving a Ford fiesta st (205/40 R17 W) on mostly town for 10,000 spirited miles
My car is modified now to 165bhp.
These tiers were supplied with the car.On wet there is too much wheel spin and you feel also very insecure. The dry grip is ok but if you want to push the car more you would definitely lose grip.Braking in dry is ok, but on wet is not so good.
They are also very noisy.
The wear rate is very good.
There are better tiers for the money you pay for this tire model.

I probably buy next some Uniroyal Rainsport 2 or some Hankook V12 Evo.

Given 79% while driving a Ford Fiesta XR4 (ST) (205/40 R17 W) on a combination of roads for 18 spirited miles
Have driven on all sorts of Australian roads - even gravel. No problems with these - 30,000k's or 18,640 miles - so im happy with that. I wouldn't expect a 205/40/17 profile in a ultra high performance tire to last any more than that. Can buy other tires that are cheaper that will give more miles but they'll probably not be 'Ultra High Performance' ones. Expensive but you get what you pay for, like everything in Aus we pay more $290aus each!

Dry - unbeatable, stick to the road like glue - wet not bad too. No snow or icy roads in my part of the world though.

Only other tires I would consider is Conti Sport Contact 1 but haven't found enough reviews on them so for now im sticking with Pzero Nero's.
