Toyo Proxes T1 Sport Reviews - Page 3

Given 66% while driving a Land Rover Range Rover Sport (275/40 R20 W) on mostly town for 10 spirited miles
Replaced Continental Sport Contacts with the Toyo T1 Sport due to the ability of the Range Rover Sport to wear out the outer extremities of the front tires at a phenomenal rate. Toyos are proving a bit better as they start off with a deeper tread on the outside than the Continentals but I'm not convinced they are going to fair any better than 12,000 miles on the front, only 2,000 more than the Continentals. The bonus is, the Toyos are far cheaper (by £150 per corner.

Having enthused about other TOYO products I was severely disappointed in the wear rate of these tires, approx. 6000 miles "yes I did check the 6000 miles only fitted July '12 and fronts about starting on TWI rears 2mm" even wear all round, tried to obtain TOYO PROXES ST but could not find in this size. Probably try Hankook in this size BUT would really like another set of ST's.

Given 77% while driving a Mazda 6 Wagon (215/50 R17 W) on a combination of roads for 12,000 average miles
I have had the T1-sport on the front with T1R's on the back. The grip that is obtained on the front tires has been excellent giving great confidence when driving in both wet and dry. The one giant drawback of the tire is how quickly they lose their tread. In 12000 miles and 10 months they have worn down around 2-3mm and if I'm honest i do not drive with too heavy a foot. I have been extremely happy with the feel of them but find the compound used in them is just too soft to give the longevity i was looking for. For the price there are tires that will give you better value for money but for control and confidence i was very impressed.

Pleased with my choice I am about to purchase my third set of Toyo T1 Sports for my tweeked STR. Have found them to be a good combination for grip, ride, noise and wear - I get around 22,000 miles out of a set which includes a fair amount of motorway travel. Needless to say there is less grip in the wet but handling and breakaway is predictable which with 570BHP on tap is a saving grace

Given 86% while driving a Ford Focus mk2 (225/40 R18) on mostly country roads for 8,000 spirited miles
I have had a set of Toyo Proxes T1S on for the last sixth months after switching from Goodyear Eagle F1's, Conti sports and Dunlop SP SportMax.

The performance and quietness are unbelievable compared to other tires. I have large, low profile wheels (for a Focus) and the road noise, particularly with Dunlops can be wearing. The Toyo's are quite a soft tire so road noise is very low compared to other performance tires.

The only downside is a ridiculous wear rate. Although that is partially attributable to too many bends taken way too fast. In my defence it was fun!

Given 74% while driving a BMW (255/35 R18 W) on a combination of roads for 2,000 easy going miles
Had these tires fitted just over a month on my BMW z4, and I will be getting ready for a new pair of rear tires in about a month, I have 3.5 mm left from 8mm.
I have done approx 2000 miles, 1400 on the motorway.
The tires give good grip and feedback and are quiet but the wear rate is shocking, it's almost a joke, I have Been to tire shops and the guys just laugh, and can't believe the wear rate.
I have had the tracking done and its perfect, the bridgestones that were on before lasted 18 months and were on the car when I bought it and they were at 6mm when I got it.
I don't drive fast or wheel spin, this is from normal commuting.
There is no way I will be wasting my money on another pair of these.
At this rate I will need 6 sets of rear tires in a year? It's a joke.

Given 100% while driving a BMW 3 series (225/40 R18 W) on a combination of roads for 0 average miles
I live in Australia and just recently I changed my Continental run flat tires for the new Toyo T1 Sport and the difference is amazing. I chose not to go for run flats because the technology at the moment is still a long way off from making them a great ride. I never realised how heavy the run flats were until I changed over to the Toyo T1. I own a BMW 323i wagon. I changed the tires because the Continentals were fraying and I drive very conservatively. Will never buy them again. However, I researched the Toyo T1's for a few months and I am really happy with the choice and the ride. Road noise is reduced enormously and the ride is incredibly smooth and so responsive. To compliment my new tires I went and purchased a set of Beyern Multi Rims and this has truly given my BMW wagon a fantastic finish. I get so many compliments about the car, it is amazing and all because I decided to buy rims and tires that add quality and looks as well as great ride and handling. Would recommend these to anyone.

To add to my initial review in December,I have now used them in the wet ! Also, they are fully "run in". They are FABULOUS - in the dry and in wet conditions. The handling/ cornering ability/ performance- of these tires-- is fantastic!
