Toyo T1R Reviews - Page 3

Given 37% while driving a Renault Clio 172 (195/45 R16 V) on mostly country roads for 2,000 spirited miles
These are the worst tires I've ever owned and I would never buy them again. Grip in wet or icy conditions was dangerous on my car. So much so, I had to apply opposite lock on quite a few occasions as the Toyos at the rear generated would break away immediately with no warning. I then switched the Toyos to the front axel and the car understeered dangerously instead (even breaking away at sub 20 mph on occasions). As well as the lack of grip, these tires also had very little feel through the steering wheel and made the car slower to respond to change of direction. In the dry they gripped a lot better but screeched a lot. In the end I ended up taking these tires to the tip despite over 6mm of tread left on them. They were replaced with Continentals which had none of the above issues.

Given 44% while driving a SEAT Leon FR Plus (225/45 R17) on a combination of roads for 150 spirited miles
Had these already fitted onto my Leon FR! Never again. Can not work out why people think these should go on anything more powerful than a shopping trolley. Wet grip=lethal, dry= bumb clenching. Possibly one of the worst tires I have ever had on a car. A week after buying the car with these on had Pirelli nero's fitted. Avoid unless you like death.

Given 41% while driving a Mitsubishi mirage cyborg r (205/45 R16) on a combination of roads for 9,000 spirited miles
These tires are no good for money. Better michelin pilot sports or potenza. I used them on a modified Proton GTi, which has about 170+whp, maybe they are good on a vios or city.

Given 87% while driving a Porsche cayenne s (225/45 R17) on mostly country roads for 8,000 average miles
Excellent, grip in both wet and dry conditions. Equally as good when spirited driving. They are one of the few which make me feel confident I am attached to the road. Only down side they don't last too long, guess it's a heavy reasonably powerful car. . . I will definitely buy again.
I've now used these tires on a manual Supra tt - two Boxster S's and now my Cayenne S.
I do reccomend them for anyone who pushes, but in moderation on the public highway, use Toyo track tires on the track if speed and cornering is what you are about.

Given 76% while driving a Subaru Impreza WRX 2006 Hawkeye (225/45 R17) on mostly country roads for 13,000 spirited miles
Owned the car from new...changed from original Bridgestone Potenza's when due(22,000 miles ...tires becoming harsher with age) but couldn't afford to replace them like for like...did some research and Toyo TR1's showed promise so bought locally for £100 each. Went to 225 x 45 x 17...been on 5 years now and acknowledge that the feel isn't as good now on fronts but back still spot on...the edges are getting to around 2.5mm but still loads in the centre...will replace in the next few months again more due to age than wear...generally performed well and I don't have anything negative to say about them

Volkswagen Polo 6R GTI 1.4TSI (180HP) (215/45 R17) on a combination of roads for 1,000 spirited miles
I drive a 2013 VW Polo gti. The Toto Proxes Sport is a bad tire for this hot hatch. On high speed cornering with braking, the car wobbles like crazy. I never had that experience with my previous OEM Michelins. It's frightening! I'm changing it to Michelin Sport today

Given 50% while driving a Ford Puma (195/45 R16) on a combination of roads for 2,000 spirited miles
Do not buy them ! My nearly bolt yokohamas parada s2 gave me much more confident and safe ride than new toyos ! Very poor for fast cornering, but in wet condition really dangerous. Buying them was the big mistake.

Given 44% while driving a Volkswagen Polo GTI (215/40 R17 W) on mostly country roads for 4,000 spirited miles
As many reviews have said previously DO NOT BUY if you have a powerful FWD car. They really really are not suited to them whatsoever. With all the weight on the front the sidewalls are weak giving a very spongy feeling through the corners even at reasonable speeds. The back snaps very quickly especially under braking and can be very unpredictable. In a straight line you have to do a lot of corrections to keep it on the road , even worse at 80+mph... I have to say these really ruined the experience of my car and I can't wait to get rid of them . OH !!!!and I forgot to mention their wet performance is truly frightening, I've had to adpopt a complete new way of driving my car now ... Lucky I've ordered some ps3's !!

Given 69% while driving a Toyota Vios (195/55 R15 V) on a combination of roads for 30,000 average miles
Coming from PS3 and change to Toyo T1R. For dry grip i feel it match or maybe better than PS3. But for wet grip, PS3 just do better than T1R. The tread pattern is causing the noise from the road. Looking good from outside and catchy in the eyes. Treadwear is acceptable rating 280 by toyo, last for 50k km for almost 2years. Comfort is not a thing for this tire.

I am switching back to PS3 as for now but still looking for the better tire as my daily use
