Given 69% while driving a Ford Mondeo ST24 (205/50 R16 W) on mostly country roads for 8,000 spirited miles
These tires are a Jekyll and Hyde!

I took some corners in the dry at some truly defiant speeds, and these tires did not even make a squeal let alone feel like they were going to let go. I can't put into words how much grip they offered because I was never brave enough to get them to their limit. I managed to spin them up quite a bit in the wet but this was not really a problem until I had the fronts down to about 2mm tread, when I changed them.

The wear rate was my biggest issue. Although priced quite well, when you consider that I only got about 8000 miles from the fronts on a powerful, heavy FWD car with a lowered sporty suspension (and just a little more from the rear) then they are actually probably the most expensive tires you can buy mile for mile (this is going on the claimed mileages for Contis, Michelins etc from reading other reviews). I might buy them again, but not a definite.

Given 39% while driving a Skoda Fabia vRS (205/40 R17 W) on mostly country roads for 5,000 average miles
Excellent in the dry but in wet conditions after a couple of months wear they are AWFUL! Even when driving slowly to suit the conditions. If you have a light powerful car choose something else.

Given 63% while driving a Citroën C2 VTS (225/45 R17) on mostly town for 9,000 easy going miles
The tire was good until it is worn, with little time and mileage until being unidirectional tires the car has started Pulling to one side, reversing the tires pulled from the other side, unsolvable problem also with the various balancing and convergences. Pity, the design was not bad

Given 79% while driving a Volkswagen Corrado VR6 (205/40 R17) on mostly country roads for 6,200 spirited miles
Great grippy tires, on par with the best but half price of bridge stones or conti's only fault is I have to replace every year (6000 miles average and bold with even ware) but as they seem to get cheaper year on year they are unbeatable.

Given 80% while driving a Volkswagen bora tdi (205/55 R16 W) on mostly motorways for 20,000 average miles
Whilst my car, a 130bhp VW Bora Diesel, isn't really going to test the limits of what's possible with tires, I daren't buy cheap tires - So I shelled out a relatively acceptable fee for a set of Proxes T1-R about a year ago.

I fully accept that I haven't picked the best tire for longevity on a 21,000 mile per year commute - but seeing as I've lasted nearly a full year on these tires I'm not going to complain.

They definitely have their drawbacks - the tread pattern isn't very quiet, and now they're getting below 3mm, the noise is transferring into a dull roar at motorway speeds.

In the dry, the grip from T1-Rs is second to none, they hang on well after the floppy comfort suspension of a 12-year-old family hack would rather they didn't. Their grip in the wet starts off well enough, but predicatbly they start struggling when they're getting low - as I'm finding out now.

These tires also struggle massively in snowy/icy conditions. I know they never claim to be a winter tire, but I found myself stuck in polished snow twice last winter.

The bottom line is: my next set of tires aren't going to be proxes, because I want a set of tires that last a bit longer, and are a bit quieter - but if I had a more... car-ish... car then I would order my next set of proxes ASAP!

Given 74% while driving a Honda crx vtec 91 (225/45 R17) on track for 2,000 spirited miles
Used these on my track crx. Very good tire for price, in fact the best for the price. There are better tires but they are double the price. Very good in the dry and also found to be great in the wet going round Mallory. They do wear quickly (done 2000 miles on mine which consisted of 5 tracks days, 3 of which were wet) but at 35 quid a side you can't complain.

Very Very good tire cheap, huge amount of grip in the dry good road feedback but they are noisy.

Given 51% while driving a Honda Civic Coupe 1.6i SR VTEC (195/45 R16) on a combination of roads for 30,000 average miles
I have it for 4 summer season. If you don't want fast wear, try to fill it around 2,6Bar. In wet condition are very bad. In dry condition can be better. On the car I have Koni kit and strut bars. The tires are not so bad, but neather so good. Yust in the midle.

Given 89% while driving a Toyota MK3 MR2 Roaster (195/50 R15 W) on mostly country roads for 8,000 spirited miles
Fitted these all round to replace the Dunlops that where coming toward the end of their lives. Heard mixed things about the T1-R's but opted for them as on balance more good than bad. The trick to theses tires is getting the pressures just right, run them on higher end of their pressure spec's and you will get a great handling tire with excellent feedback and grips very well in the wet and dry with gradual breakaway even on a mid engined car! 8k miles of spirited B road driving so far and hardly any wear showing on them which i am most surprised and pleased about.

Recommend!

Given 73% while driving a Nissan Micra (195/45 R15) on a combination of roads for 10,000 spirited miles
For me these are the be all and end all when it comes to performance tires. They're extremely cheap for what they are. I use them on a lightweight modified car, with track days and spirited driving in there. Dry grip is brilliant, wet grip is also smashing due to the tread pattern (although not so much in HEAVY rain). Excellent feedback too, and the progressiveness is smashing. They seem to get better and better when you're scrubbing them in, and only really fall off when they're down to 3mm or so. Wear is awful. If you're fitting these tires, get your cars alignment done first and try not to run aggressive camber as they will chew through the inner edge within a thousand miles. That's a trade off of mid range performance tires though - soft compounds give insane grip, but shocking wear. If your car is properly aligned, expect around 10,000 miles. Not bad for such a soft tire.
