Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3 Reviews - Page 6

Given 60% while driving a Lexus GS450h (245/40 R18 W) on a combination of roads for 14,000 spirited miles
Put these on all four wheels of Lexus GS450h. The grip is brilliant wet or dry. They inspire confidence.

Now for the down sides. The fronts have lasted 14k miles though I suspect I may have got another couple out of them but I got a cut in the side wall so had to change them. Also, the steering seems prone to "tramlining". Not sure if it's the tires but almost sure it wasn't as bad on the previous tires.

I've replaced them with Goodyear F1 Asymmetrics - they get better reviews all round so we'll see how they go.

Given 71% while driving a BMW E46 3 Series (205/55 R16 W) on mostly motorways for 15,000 average miles
Changed all 4 tires to Eagle F1 approximately 10 months ago, the rear tires are now down the wear limit markers after approximately 15000 miles of mostly motorway commuting. Excellent grip in both wet and dry but wear rate feels very poor to me compared to the previous set of Avons which gave me about 30000 miles. Going to be fair and say that the harsh winter perhaps took its toll on the tires - the joys of rear wheel drive...

Given 59% while driving a Volkswagen Golf 1.9 Tdi (205/40 R17) on a combination of roads for 6,000 average miles
i had these on a slightly wide rim (7.5j). Dry grip was good, but they screamed quite easily, the wet grip was not bad either. i can't say much about these tires, only, they wear fast, but are DEFINATELY better than the predecessors (gs-d2) wich were rubbish!

Given 73% while driving a Mercedes Benz CLK 430 Coupe (245/45 R17 W) on mostly country roads for 6,000 average miles
Had 2 setts of these on stagered alloys (common with mercedes) they are a great tire and both performance and grip in wet & dry was excellent. Only let down was miles.... max 6,000 and I don't drive that bad - well you don't buy a V8 engined Mercedes to poodle about. Country roads mainly.... Sold V8 and moved into Orpington now so purchased a CLK 270 CDi. Can't get the performance, always in traffic so V8 was pointless. Current Merc got P7's back and Conti's SP2 on front but I'm now on the market for probably Falkens fitted to new Stagered 18's being fitted. 225/40/18 FRONTS AND 255/35/18 REAR.....

Given 86% while driving a Volkswagen Golf Mk4 V6 4Motion (225/40 R18 W) on a combination of roads for 30,000 average miles
Fitted to 18inch RS4 shoes on a V6 4motion. Dry grip is excellent. Wet grip is pretty good, no hint of aquaplaning even on newly built dual carriageway with very poor drainage! Feedback and progressiveness is very good. Wera is brilliant, 2 years and 30,000 miles later and they are just coming up to the wear indicators. Have driven a variety of styles since I have had them and they have responded a lot better than the Toyo Proxes which came with the alloys. Only down side is seem to have a lot of road noise but this could be down to the stupidly large wheels (Note for Mk4 golf drivers; don't put 18" wheels on unless you plan to completely change the suspension as they dont offer enough cushioning resulting in lots of cabin rattles!!!!).
Would definitely recommend and buy again, just trying to figure out if I can find anything better for a similar amount of money or get anything the same for less money!!!

Given 59% while driving a Skoda Fabia vRS (205/45 R16 W) on mostly country roads for 18,000 spirited miles
Having always been a fan of Goodyear tires I decided to fit these to the front to replace the original Michelin Premacy pilots. Whilst the Michelins had extremely good wear lasting 30,000 on the front I found that when the roads were damp they felt unsure and lacking in grip although on dry road surfaces and in standing water the tires gripped well. After swopping to the F1's I found that wet, dry and damp grip as well as steering feedback to be superior the only downsides being that I am only getting 18,000 miles from a set of tires and I have also found the F1's slightly more prone to tram lining compared to the Michelins.

Given 33% while driving a Audi A3 (225/45 R17) on a combination of roads for 5,000 easy going miles
I moved from the original michelin pilot sport tires to these Eagle F1s. I have done only about 5000 miles and Im having to replace the lot as they have flatspotted. The tires have not been driven hard and are hardly worn but have become deformed. Audi belive that the recent cold snap and heavy snow may have been responsible as the car sits on a drive way 6 days a week and is only used occasionally. My advice would be not to buy these tryes unless you drive your car frequently.

Given 80% while driving a Vauxhall Astra VXR (225/40 R18 W) on a combination of roads for 20,000 spirited miles
Now on my 3rd set of Eagle F1 GDS3s (even tho they have been discontinued - but you can still buy them) and I am pleased to say they offer a very reasuring and confident drive. The VXR puts 240hp to the front wheels which is an unfair demand for any tire. It came with Continental Contact Sport 2, which were impressive. However I have found F1's to be much better suited to coping with the demands and longer lasting. In dry conditions they are superb, you couldnt ask for better and provide excellent feedback and road holding. In the wet they continue the impressive grip, just a touch less progressive at the limit, but still provide bags of confidence and can cope well with heavy acceleration and cornering with minimal traction loss. The backs lasted a good 25k miles and the fronts only last about 10k miles. The Continentals lasted 7k miles. As they age dry grip only improves but wet driving becomes a bit more slippy, however only under heavy demands, plus they loose thier ride comfort. Overall a superior tire and im very satisfied and would surely recommend them!
