2025 Teknikens Varld Summer Tire Test
1st of 8 tires
  • The Pirelli Scorpion emerged as the overall test winner, delivering classic performance where grip and excellent road behavior were clear priorities. While slightly noisier than some competitors, this drawback was easily overlooked given the tire's exceptional road manners. The Scorpion made the Volvo XC60 feel exactly as it should - with precise, responsive steering that built force predictably, outstanding directional stability, and excellent balance. The testers noted it provided perfect steering feedback from initial input through corners, making the car feel planted and confident at all times. Despite having higher rolling resistance as a trade-off for its superior grip, the Pirelli Scorpion consistently delivered top-tier performance in safety-critical tests.

2025 Autobild SUV Off-Road Summer Tire Test
2nd of 10 tires
  • The Pirelli Scorpion tied for second place, delivering top-level performance on all surfaces. Especially notable for being the quietest tire in the test. It provides dynamic and secure handling with short braking distances on asphalt. Surprisingly strong in off-road tests despite not being a specialist, with particularly good performance on sand. Offers a good balance of low rolling resistance and comfort. Among the most expensive options but delivers premium performance to match.

2025 Vi Bilagare Summer EV Tire Test
3rd of 7 tires
  • The Pirelli Scorpion, classified as a "High Performance" rather than "Ultra High Performance" tire, emphasizes comfort and durability over maximum grip. This approach pays off with the highest comfort rating in the test and impressive tread wear rating of 400. The Pirelli rolls pleasantly over road imperfections and maintains a low noise level. While its steering response is slightly more relaxed than sportier alternatives, it still provides good, linear steering feel. Both in wet and dry conditions, the Scorpion behaves predictably under pressure with mild understeer, though its grip level is a step below the best performers. With good aquaplaning resistance and strong braking performance in the cool test temperatures, the Pirelli offers a harmonious driving experience at a reasonable price, earning it a bronze medal in the test.

Top 3 Pirelli Scorpion Reviews

Given 74% while driving a Volkswagen Tiguan (255/45 R19) on mostly country roads for 16,000 average miles
Coming from a hot Audi hatchback, it was clear to me that trying to drive my new plug-in hybrid SUV in a spirited way was pointless. The tires aided to this as the feedback is average and rather imprecise in the corners when pushing with 245hp on the front wheels. Further to this, the tires lose grip easily when you are facing uphill and trying to start moving from a stand, especially in the wet. They are not a looker either, if that matters to you.

Comfort is where the tires excel! The profile is rather low for this kind of vehicle, but the puddles are a joke and, I recon, the suspension is not the only one to thank. Also, I cannot stress enough how impressed I am with the ride quality and the lack of noise on the motorway. These tires will be appreciated by BEV owners who travel long distances. Although I am not impressed by their performance in the wet, I must note that they behaved very safely in instances of aquaplaning. Finally, the wear is very good. 16,000 miles and they are good as new.

Alfa Romeo Stelvio 2,0 280 hp (255/45 R20) on for 0 miles
It is not a review YET, but this might help others considering the tire anyway but lacking the information on their performance. I could not find reviews or ratings of Scorpion anywhere. On this site there was an almost two years old press realise which sounded good, that was all. Not counting one skimpy review. Breakthrough....a major Pirelli dealer in Poland told me that this is essentially the same tire as new Cinturato P7C2. They came on the market at the same time....P7C2 for cars and Scorpion for SUVs. This information was confirmed by Pirelli's German customer service. Cinturato P7C2 has great reviews....also on this site. So I bought them for my Alfa Romeo Stelvio. I wanted a good noise, wet, and comfort ratings. Already have them mounted but still riding on winter wheels for another month or so. Will report later my thoughts on them.

Given 87% while driving a Land Rover Freelander 2 (265/75 R18) on mostly country roads for 23,000 average miles
Since putting on my freelander 2 would never put any other tire on, good general performance and excellet wear.
