BMW 530i e34 Tire Review Highlights

Writing about the Barum Bravuris given 57% (235-45-17-)
Driving on a combination of roads for 2000 spirited miles
Maybe I'm just not used to marshmallow tires anymore but these tires were pretty damn vague and puddingy. Fitted to wheels from a car I bought and only used as I had a flat on my main set of wheels. On the motorway reasonable enough but a tire is a tire when going in a staright line. Feedback and handling were quite shocking considering Barum is not a small brand, car didn't turn in with confidence and the feedback was like a three year old on an etchasketch. Would I buy these tires not a chance, there are better tires that are CHEAPER out there.

Writing about the Primewell PZ900 given 96% (265-35-18-)
Driving on mostly town for 1000 spirited miles
Had to make quick purchase on limited cash after some delightful chap slashed my tires.

I took a chance on these budget tire and can honestly say they anything but!

Better handling and more progressive feedback than the Falken 914 ecoruns they replaced and equal out and out grip; not bad for a tire that is half the price. Have had Michelins before and they were marginally better than the Primewell but certainly not 3x the price better.

Very comfortable for such a low profile tire and quite quiet for a symmetrical tread pattern. Wet weather performance has also been commendable especially greasy wet summer roads.

Highly recommend for any RWD performance car couldn't say how they handle on a FWD but I'm sure they would be just as good. Get over the brand snobbery and grab a bargain. One very happy and satisfied customer.

Writing about the Falken ZIEX ZE914 EcoRun given 81% (245-40-18-)

245/40R18 up front 265/35R18 on the rear.

First off a very firm side walled tire, initially VERY hard ride until broken in after 500 miles or so but understandably helps make the handling extremely responsive. Excellent grip levels, grip, grip and more grip the tire is progressive but in a slip bite kind of way which when pushing hard can spoil the experience somewhat. Dry weather grip level is excellent as is wet weather confidence. After a 1000 miles the wear seems to be reasonable especially considering how hard I drive most of the time.

Overall not as good as the Michelin's they replaced, but at least 35% cheaper, however I would shell out the extra next time as the only real advantage of the Falken's being the alleged improved fuel efficiency.
