Driving on a combination of roads for 1000 easy going miles
Previous tires were Toyo's which were replaced by Toyo's Observer Ice freezer and I bought a pair of Winrun's for the rear. I am aware that its not recommended
to mix tires from different brands but until the winrun's I had no issues for the past 30 years. During a sudden snowstorm in Tallinn Estonia I was forced to put the Toyo's on the front and keep my summer Vredestein's on the back to get home. I was amazed with the Toyo's and very pleased.

Then the studded Winrun's were mounted at the rear axl. Up to 80km/hr there was nothing really noticeable. But as soon I hit 100km/hr the car started to move all directions and I was terrified I was loosing control. The road was only WET! No ice or snow yet. I really thought that there was something wrong with stabilizers or suspension but during a check there was nothing found.

I put the winrun's on the front and at least the car was drivable. Nevertheless I could now determine the shortcomings of this tire. Both on the wet and dry they loose grip so easily in turns. Not to mention in ice or snowy conditions. I never had such negative experience with a winter tire before.

I cannot write about the wear rate. One winter was enough.

Driving on mostly motorways for 300 spirited miles
I drove today with my Vredestein hitrac tires and got caught by snowfall and a strong wind. I was planning to swap the wheels to winter mode 330km later but was forced to do it on the IKEA parking area since I had them in the trunk anyway. It was very scary with the old hitrac's. It's one of those decisions I wished I made it earlier. It wasn't only because the Toyo tires have sufficient grip in the snow and ice. My car suddenly had stability on the highway which I never experienced before! It also dampened the road bumps very pleasantly. A little noise from the studs but no vibrations of any kind. Forget about the Toyo snowprox which I have reviewed as well. Go for the observer ice freezer!

I wonder how some reviewers can mention that this tire has good snow performance? It's absolutely rubbish. Last winter I got stuck twice in little layer of snow and that never happened before. For cold and wet weather it's fine and also nice handling. More stable than my Vredestein hitrac summer tires. But forget about it in the snow. Maybe on a small vehicle it will work but don't use them on any midsize sedan. Ice? I still have nightmares... I bought now studded Toyo's and will review them coming winter.

These tires came on my Leganza and only because of the age I need to replace them after 10 years. Plenty of thread left. Never skidded in the wet or dry and I consider them as really safe tires. However regarding handling/feedback it's a different story. As long as the road surface is smooth it's a comfortable tire. Noise level on the high side though. Fuel consumption lower than average. When the road is old with 'tracks' from heavy vehicles it's very unpleasant. Also very sensitive for the right tire pressure. Maybe the newer version is improved but I am not a fan of Vredestein.

Superb handling on dry roads in winter. Very good behavior even on warmer weather. On highway, at high speeds (above 150km/h), the car seems to be equipped with premium summer tires. There is almost no difference between these winter tires and summer tires. They also do a fantastic job on ice and snow. Very quiet at any speed, great stability and breaking performance. Definitely will buy again
