Mercedes Benz CLK230K Tire Review Highlights

Writing about the Matador MP 46 Hectorra 2 given 97% (225-45-17-W)
Driving on a combination of roads for 3000 spirited miles
Replaced the mix and match tires on the Mercedes and it has transformed into a comfortable and safe tourer.Grip is good in both dry and wet. I think the softness of the tirewall does hamper the feedback a tad but the steering on this Merc can be a little numb anyway. Noise is down, fuel economy is up and the comfort levels have improved massively. The wear indicators are a good idea and the tread pattern looks superb. Not a cheap tire but better value than a budget because budgets are pants and better value than a top brand as they can cost the earth. Have used Matador in the past and will use again. The MP44 Elite are also superb.

Writing about the Accelera PHI given 47% (255-35-18-W)
Driving on a combination of roads for 16000 average miles
I bought these to replace Bridgestone runflats. They seem to be quite a soft tire which explains the high wear rate. In the wet they are better than bridgestones. Pulling away quickly at junctions can sometimes activate the ESP when wet but not in dry conditions. Exiting roundabouts in the wet has on occasion activated the ESP but that is often due to poor road surface.
I'm changing them now with 2mm left after just 16000 miles as I no longer have any confidence in them in the wet even driving with extra care.
I've just replaced these with Goodyear Asymmetric 2, twice the price but hopefully they will last longer and they should be better in the wet.
