Opel Astra H 5T 1.8l Tire Review Highlights

Writing about the Pirelli Cinturato P1 Verde given 41% (205-55-16-)

These tires replaced a set of Falken ZE310 Ecorun tires, so I will essentailly compare them with those. Please note that the Pirellis were 20€ more per tire at the time of purchase.
Positive: The Pirellis do have good dry grip and good wet grip in temperatures above 15°C. Also, the fuel usage of the car seems to be ever so slightly lower. However this could also be due to a colder summer than last year and therefor less driving with A/C turned on.

Negative: The wet grip in temperatures below 15°C is poor, it feels like driving on rocks. The tires tend to slip when accelerating, even more so if there are people sitting in the back seats. Compared to the Falkens, the feedback of the tire is poor, it feels like driving on a sponge. Also the tires are very noisy, to an extent that multiple passangers at different times were concerned about the cars wheelbearings failing (they were not). The wear is higher, after one summer about 15.000km the front tires are at about 4,5mm and the rears at 6mm. The tires startet at slightly more than 7mm. For comparison, the Falkens were at 4.5mm all around when they were replaced due to damage from a metal piece on the road. At that point, they were on the car for 4 summers and about 40-50.000km.

The tires will be used for another summer with the rears at the front and other way around. They will probably be worn after and replaced with something less expensive. At least on this instance, more expensive does not mean more qualitly in a product.

tldr: I do not recommend this tire.

The tires lastet about 42.000km before they were replaced because one of them blew. I dont see that as the tires fault because its likely that I have damaged the sidewall on a forest road myself.

As a road tire, they are good vcalue for money. At the time when one of them failed, they had about 4.5mm of tread left, so they were not worn yet. The wet grip went a little worse at around 6mm, however it was not too terrible, still better than my winter tires (Fulda Kristall Montero 3)
Dry grip was excelent, I have never managed to break them loose. However, I am a relaxed driving, with spirited driving you probably can.

As mentioned, these tires were also driven on forest/logging roads. As any summer tire I know, this works kinda decent in the dry, but depending on the soil, its like ice skating in the wet. However as this is not what the tire is intended to do, I ignored this when rating this tire.

Noise and comfore were both absolutly fine, the car was very stable when driving on the autobahn (usually Cruise controll at 120km/h) Cant say much about higher speeds because I dont go fast very often.

Fuel consumption was ok, however tire tests indicate that this is not the most efficient tire you can get.

I would have bought these again, however they were not avalibale fast enough. They were replaced with Pirelli Cinturato P1, wich are significantly louder inside the car.
