Saab Automobile 9 3 Aero HOT Tire Review Highlights

Previous owner of my car had bought these as new tires for the car but the experience with were so awful I had to share.

The car was shaking above 80km/h and at 100km/h it felt like it bounced sideways a little. I thought yeah balancing is not done correctly and took the tires to a shop. They stated that the tires were infact not round but elliptical on top of that they were impossible to balance.

So I went and bought some premium tires and no more issues. I never had tried budget tires before and this was certainly my last experience with them. Never again 0/5.

Driving on a combination of roads for 500 spirited miles
Bought these as a step up from bargain tires and could not be happier. Noticed a huge difference in road handling and grip from the minute I took a corner. Now the roads are wet with the change in weather, i was cautious at first but had no reason to be. Handle really well on wet/greasy roads and take relatively deep surface water in their stride. Only had them a few months so not got to the point where i can comment on the wear. However I will, going by what they have been like so far, be buying them again.

I do not really feel qualified to write this review as I an not a retired Formula One driver like the other reviewers on here, nor do I drive my car like a stole it, whichi is another great phrase I enjoy to read.
Despite my lack of driving skills I have not ended up in a ditch yet or had any real problems with these tire, they are perhaps a little noisy but othe than that they are are a lot better than the Nankangs I had before.

If you want something cheaper I've had a set of 225/40/18 Landsails on my 2002 260hp Saab 93 Aero for a year. It's a bit of a brutal car. I've punished them on the motorway and nice country back roads and they've stood up to Pilots and Continentals I've used before. Paid £65 a corner on recommendation and money back if I didn't like how they performed. I'm not one to scrimp on tires usuallylly but I was REALLY surprised and will buy again.

Very poor tire, hopless in the wet making them very dangerous. However the most alarming problem with these tires are radial splits in the inside walls, it seems to be a very common accurance. I had four of these fitted, two of which developed splits within 4k miles, all four replaced within 8k. In my opinion these tires should be banned! DO NOT BUY!!!!

Bought these tires to replace the falken ziex 912s which I had two sets of before, as I couldnt find them anymore. Looking at the name I thought these would be the upgrade, latest versions to them I couldnt be more wrong. 912s wet or dry phenomenal grip for a tire of that price. 914s even after a 200 miles would start coming out on me on a roundabout in damp conditions without even trying to be enthusiastic. Dry was better but not like glue as the 912s or nowhere near. Now coming up to 2.5k on them and even yesterday taking off from the lights in wet conditions spinning up on me, I just dont understand that not like I was nailing it plus had a full car, really dont get on with this tire even to a point I have found a site thats still got 912s on sale and will be buying a set. My review is based on comparing it to the 912s which I got on with quite well. Did come here before I bought them and seen nothing but good reviews which confuses me even more, maybe i got a dodgy batch of rubber or sonething I dunno. All I know is that the car doesnt feel planted on these.

First thing i've noticed was that the tires was very noisy but the biggest problems was the vibrations and the instability. I went to different mechanics to balance the wheels with no success (bad tire?) and it was impossible to drive the car without holding the steeringwheel ( the car always wanted to go to the left or right). Last week i gave up and I baught new tires (Fulda SportControl) Maybe the problems was caused by one or two bad tires but in my opinion this is unacceptable and I will never buy Hankook again (at least not this model)

Only had these tires on for about 500 miles so far I'm impressed dry grip I can't fault wet grip alot better than some more expensive tires I've had in the past.
I read alot of reviews before I got these tires it will be interesting to see how they last on the front of the Saab

Writing about the Wanli S1088 given 10% (225-45-17-)
Driving on mostly country roads for 200 average miles
I bought a second hand Saab 93 recently, There was a horrendous noise coming from the rear. I assumed it was a wheel bearing as I’ve had bearings gone before and the noise was the same. As bearings came as one hub assembly which are pricey for these cars (£300 for genuine part + fitting + VAT!!!), I negotiated a handsome discount on the car. The drive home was partially bad, freezing temperatures and heavy downpours for 150 miles on A roads. It didn’t feel great driving home. The front branded tires were shot and were to be replaced anyway, but I decided to do some research on these wanli s-1088 on the rear that had loads of tread left. As I’d never heard of them.

First of all I couldn’t believe how cheap they were. Furthermore what I read on hear was shocking, all these people talking about the same noises from these cheap tires, couldn’t be? Could it? I didn’t want tires that cheap on a 210bhp car anyway. So it was worth a punt. A few days later a tire fitter got me a good deal on a set of 4 Avon zv5’s. Completely changed the handling of the car, brilliant in the wet, and most important thing? Noise completely gone! Thank you tire-reviews, it pays to do your research.

Please don’t waste your money on cheap rubbish. False economy.

However, I would have paid a lot more for my car if wanli’s weren’t fitted.

excellent tire, great price and well suited to my car. A good touring tire but can handle a bit of abuse when needed and do a good job of keeping the 210 ponys in check!

3 months wear so far and a good buy. first 2 months of rain driving was excellent, 1 month of fast dry road, country, single, dual and motorway all performed impressive. needed 4, shopped around and kept getting 550-625 quotes for toyos ect. spoke to my dealer who supplies these and he showed me a vid of a transit connect screaming around the nurenburg wearing these. apparently the fastest lap of a standard tranny connect.an up and coming brand me thinks. i am impressed. i scream my saab aero coupe(maptun 350bhp upgrade)and am happy with my purchase.my opinion.

Driving on mostly motorways for 17000 average miles
I take it all back; my initial review of the Semperit Speed Life was a bit non-plus; I was concerned about front wear after very limited mileage and I was nervous that they (the tires) wouldn’t last. I can now happily confirm that I was wrong; with over 17,000 miles clocked, these tires last well, look good, and give plenty of grip in wet conditions. For a premium end, budget tire (I believe Semperit are part of Continental), I really can’t fault them. I sourced them online; x4 for £300 delivered, had them fitted locally for £40 … So, for £85 per corner (fitted) I really can’t complain. Recommended
