Skoda Kamiq Tire Review Highlights

Writing about the Goodyear EfficientGrip Performance 2 given 60% (205-60-16-)
Driving on mostly town for 2500 average miles
This is an initial review - they came with a brand new Skoda Kamiq. The rubber is fresh, when feeling it - it is not hard. DOT indicates manufacture in 2024.
I have very mixed opinion of these tires. I will make a follow up in a couple of years how they are behaving.

The upside - they are quiet. They have low rolling resistance. To the level that I did manage to pull off very good mileage when driving conservatively. After 4000km it is not possible to say that they are wearing fast or slow. Handling is very good - a new car so any downsides should be visible already. Great during the summer, tried braking hard - very good traction. Slippage minimal.

The downside - these tires are meant for driving over 10 degrees Celsius and dry. Wet handling and braking is very bad, especially for a premium brand. They slip easily, lots of understeer. It is very easy to lose traction when trying to take off on a green light - come on, this is 1.0 tsi, this does not have all that power to be able to skid - and I am not talking about pushing the metal to the pedal - I am talking normal driving. I will be changing to winter tires sooner, because in the mixed weather they are straight dangerous !

I have another car with Nexen mid range tires, 2 years old, and they behave far, far better in the wet than these Goodyears.

Something is wrong with these tires. This is a third time that the OEM tires that come with the vehicle behave like this - as if for OEM the manufacturer traded grip for longevity. Same was with Pirelli Cinturato P4 on Grande Punto (140000km to 2mm), same was with Bridgestone ER on Opel Meriva (90000km to 4mm)

Oh well, maybe my luck!
