Driving on a combination of roads for 2500 spirited miles
Bought these tires to replace my Pirelli Scorpion Winters which had worn down to 3mm in abt 28k kilometres. The Nexens have really impressed me. Driving in a spirited manner in the mountains, these inspire a lot of confidence. Great handling on wet, icy roads and the braking as well is really good in the wet. Ice and slush were the Pirelli's weak points but the Nexens are faring much better no matter what the surface - dry, wet, snow, ice . Even in the wet, turning the traction control off, there's only a slight oversteer, there's just oodles of grip. Cant say much about the wear as its been only 2500 kms. But from enthusiast's point of view, the tire ticks all boxes.

Good handling, great wet & dry grip. Drove through pouring rain at high speeds on German autobahn upwards of 200, gripped very well, gave a lot of confidence. Have used it on track as well and they performed very well. Very comfortable tires cruising on motorways. However, quite weak on ice, slush and snow. Its more of a performance tire during the cold rather than a snow/ice tire. Had an instance climbing a mountain road where the path became completely covered in hard ice and there was no traction whatsoever. Was a hair raising moment with a sheer drop. I guess it was also to do with the tread as it was already down to abt 4mm. Used them for 5 seasons and abt 28K kms and parted ways.

Have had them as standard fitment on my Kodiaq vRS. Owned a diesel for 4 years which I traded in for a petrol vRS. On the diesel which is heavier by I guess 65 kgs (at the front), the tires lasted abt 26k kms and were down to 3mm. No track usage but driven spiritedly whenever possible. The grip is great, the breaking and feedback is great in both dry and wet. Inspires a lot of confidence to drive quick. Past the 4mm mark, the wet grip/handling starts getting compromised but can be fun aswell - the tail steps out easier. On the petrol too, the tires have the same characteristics. Have used them on track. Down to 5mm now after 16k kms. I did feel the wear is on higher side but given the other characteristics, its an even trade-off. Cannot comment how it compares to other high performance tires. Will probably try something else like Pilot Sport just to know the difference once the current set wears off.
