Volkswagen Mk4 Golf Estate TDi 130 Tire Review Highlights

Writing about the Dunlop Sport BluResponse given 100% (195-65-15-H)
Driving on a combination of roads for 15000 spirited miles
Fantastic tires, I have thrashed the life out of my set and the are holding up stronger than expected. I have double the hp that the car came with standard and sofar I have driven 15000miles and have about 3-4mm on the fronts and 6-7mm on the backs. Lovely and good in the wet too.

Look these tires are really ok. Pricey - unless you look around but wear really well and are good tires.

If you hunt around you can get these cheaper than they are advertised. Overall good tires and excellent wear.

An improvement on the Michelin Energy savers I purchased the car with, and they're cheaper!

Writing about the Toyo Proxes CF1 given 76% (195-65-15-V)
Driving on a combination of roads for 28000 average miles
Full set of these fitted after a Uniroyal disaster, what a relief. Quite a hard ride but that suited me fine. I don't go hurling the car into corners (anymore) must be an age thing! I just want to get around safely and with confidence these tires provide just that. In dry conditions I have never had any trouble, in the wet I have to be a bit more cautious pulling away from junctions otherwise I spin the wheels, braking in any conditions feels OK, never aquaplaned dispite some close calls on the motorway when suddenly presented with a sea of red lights ahead. I did reasonably well in the heavy snow we had but found that I had better grip in 6" deep fresh snow than 1" deep partially melted slush.
Wear seems good at 28k as it's quite a heavy car, best mileage I have had from any tire.
I would recommend these tires as good VFM at about ?55 each for a casual or occasionally spirited driver in a family car.

Writing about the Uniroyal Rallye 550 given 37% (225-45-17-)
Driving on a combination of roads for 20000 average miles
Had 2 of these fitted to front end with 2 part worn Dunlops at rear, I had all on keeping the car in a straight line on the motorway, it felt as though the tires were only half inflated, they weren't. Back to the garage to have everything checked all was OK. I tolerated this for about 4k to see if they would bed in but no change so I swapped them to the rear still the same feeling. I put them back on the front and just wore them out as fast as possible. Had 4 Toyo Proxes CF1 fitted and it was such a relief to have the car drive in a straight line again without constant correction, wear looks to be heading for about 25-28k for the Toyo's

If you have a Golf Tdi 130 Estate do NOT have these tires.

Writing about the Continental Premium Contact 2 given 84% (195-60-15-)
Driving on mostly motorways for 180000 average miles
I've had the Conti PremiumContact2s on for about 4 months and they've not put a foot wrong.
They stop the car with no fuss very quickly and outcrop the chassis's limit easily.
In the wet I've not driven on better tires and wet roads feel as safe as in the dry

Writing about the Dunlop SP Sport Fast Response given 89% (205-55-16-)
Driving on mostly motorways for 22 easy going miles
I had my first pair of Dunlop SP Sport Fast Response (front pair on front wheel drive) replaced after 22,000 miles, the rears are still only half worn.

Would definately buy the same again and would highly recommend to any mile munchers. Grippy, quiet and responsive, i have finally found a tire that will stop me spending limitless hours of researching every time i need to replace them as i now wouldnt use anything else.

The only tire that comes close is the Cooper Zeon CS6 on my Golf GTi.
