Driving on
a combination of roads for 2000
spirited miles
I've driven approximately around 3000 km's now on these tires with my Tracer 700. I must say I'm very satisfied with these Pirelli's. Grip in the dry is as you would expect from a premium tire. The tire gives confidence in the corners, without feeling too soft. Also, the rear of the bike never stepped out so far. Grip in the wet is very good with these tires. On a weekend inthe Eifel in Germany it was pouring rain (we where there already, so we went riding to make the most of our trip). On the twisty roads the tires boosted my confidence in the bike. Handling was good and braking performance was exceptionnel. I've had no ABS interference with these tires (as long as you brake in normal circumstances, thus not stomping the brake, but braking progressively).
My only concern is the wear. Thread on the tires is still in very good shape. But since I often commute on the bike (highway) the rear tire is beginning to square off a bit. With the Dunlop Roadsmart 3's I had on before, I feel it took longer before they started to feel squarly. As compared to the Dunlops the dry grip of the Pirelli's is better. Dunlops stepped out on me on some occasions, Pirelli's did never so far. Wet grip on the Pirelli's is about the same, but braking on the Pirelli's feels a bit more confident.
