Bridgestone Turanza T005 vs Pirelli Cinturato P7 C2

This head-to-head pits two premium summer touring staples against each other: Bridgestone's Turanza T005 and Pirelli's updated Cinturato P7 C2. Both target safe, efficient everyday driving, but they reach that goal differently. Across 11 shared tests, the T005 consistently delivers standout efficiency and balanced safety, while the P7 C2 leans into sharper road feel and strong outright grip, especially in braking.

Recent test cycles reveal a pattern: Pirelli often edges measurable dry and wet braking, and feels more agile subjectively, whereas Bridgestone repeatedly tops rolling-resistance and wear metrics and places higher overall in large comparative tests. The choice here is less about capability-both are proven-than about priorities: efficiency and longevity versus tauter dynamics and lower noise.

While it might look like the Bridgestone Turanza T005 is better than the Pirelli Cinturato P7 C2 purely based on the higher number of test wins, tires are very complicated objects which means where one tire is better than the other can be more important in real world use.

Let's look at how the two tires compare across multiple tire test categories.

Key Strengths

  • Class-leading rolling resistance (often 18-26% lower) for fuel/EV range gains
  • Consistently strong wet safety and aquaplaning resistance
  • Better-than-average wear and abrasion results
  • High overall test finishes and balanced performance across sizes
  • Frequent wins in dry and wet braking
  • Engaging, precise handling with strong subjective scores
  • Lower external noise and good comfort
  • Competitive pricing in several tests

Real World Driver Reviews

Bridgestone Turanza T005 Driver Reviews

Drivers describe the Bridgestone Turanza T005 as a safe, predictable touring tire with strong wet-weather braking/grip and generally solid dry performance for everyday use. Many also report good fuel economy/low rolling resistance and acceptable comfort, especially versus harsher run-flats or budget tires. However, a sizeable share of users complain about faster-than-expected tread wear (sometimes uneven/shoulder wear), along with noticeable road noise and a soft sidewall/remote steering feel that makes it less satisfying for sporty driving. Some owners also note performance can drop off as tread gets low and in colder conditions.

Based on 179 reviews with an average rating of 72%

Pirelli Cinturato P7 C2 Driver Reviews

Across 26 reviews, the Pirelli Cinturato P7 C2 is praised for very low noise, high comfort, balanced handling, and strong dry and generally solid wet grip for everyday driving. Many drivers report improved fuel efficiency/rolling resistance and satisfactory wear, though a minority cite weak wet confidence and temperature sensitivity, plus occasional faster wear. Overall sentiment is strongly positive, positioning the P7 C2 as a quiet, comfortable, well-rounded touring tire.

Have Pirelli P7 C2 225/45 R17 for the first time, after Continental ContiSportContact 5 this is very good suprise, tire is very well balanced, very good grip on dry and wet conditions. I like the most that is very comfortable on the bumps and makes low noise which is not the case with Continental tires which I previous had. Pirelli P7 C2 are very, very good tires for every day normal driving and I highly recommend it.

Conclusion

Across the dataset, the Turanza T005 is the more rounded performer with a clear edge in efficiency (regularly 18-26% lower rolling resistance) and durability (multiple wear wins), translating to lower running costs and strong overall placements (e.g., 4/50 at ADAC 2023 vs. 17/50 for P7 C2). It's consistently safe in the wet, with strong aquaplaning resistance and dependable handling, even if it doesn't always top raw braking distances.

The Cinturato P7 C2 excels where feel and stopping power matter most. It frequently wins dry and wet braking and scores higher subjectively for handling and comfort/noise, with several tests calling it well balanced and engaging. However, its higher rolling resistance and mixed wear results undermine overall value in many comparisons. If you value sharper responses and shorter stops, pick the P7 C2; if you want the best blend of economy, longevity, and all-weather assurance, the T005 is the safer long-term bet.
Key Differences
  • Efficiency: T005 repeatedly dominates rolling resistance; P7 C2 is higher.
  • Wet braking: P7 C2 often stops shorter; T005 stronger in aquaplaning stability.
  • Handling feel: P7 C2 scores higher subjectively; T005 more neutral and secure.
  • Wear/longevity: T005 generally lasts longer; P7 C2 shows higher wear in multiple tests.
  • Noise: P7 C2 typically quieter; T005 can be louder externally.
  • Value over time: T005's lower fuel use and better wear offset purchase price; P7 C2 offers dynamic performance value and comfort at the expense of economy.

Footnote

This page has been developed using tire industry testing best practices. This means we are only comparing tests which have had both tires in the same test.

Why is this important? Tire testing is heavily affected by things like surface grip levels and surface temperature, which means you can only compare values from the same day. During a tire test external condition changes are calculated into the overall results, but it is not possible to calculate this between tire tests performed on different days or at different locations.

As a result you will see other tests on Tire Reviews which feature both the %s and %s, but as they weren't conducted on the same day, the results are not comparable.

Lots of other websites do this sort of tire comparison, Tire Reviews doesn't.
