Falken ZE912 Reviews - Page 2

Given 69% while driving a Toyota Mark X (225/45 R18 W) on mostly town for 28,000 average miles
Got these after two weeks to change out the stock standard tires from the Japanese Domestic Model from 16in rims to 18in rims.
Tires are quite average without any outstanding performance as it should on dry road, but road-holding ability dropped on wet surfaces. Experienced a few times of rear wheel losing traction in wet weather when taking corners at higher speed > 80km/h.
Pricing wise, these are indeed value for money tires, extremely cheap for the size of 225/45/R18 with reasonable performance.
Will try other models or the new ZE914

First off, tread life is crazy long, that's all I can say that's positive.

Scary and quite unpredictable in the wet. Never have I had this problem with any tire.

I drive very spirited in the dry BUT I drive to the conditions in the wet and damp.

Wouldn't recommend these for comfort or road holding. I would only buy these simply for tread life.

These tires have been AWESOME for the past four years! Grip has been fantastic in all conditions. Pulled me through the last winter with only 3mm of tread left. Very quiet and comfortable. Good looking too.

Since wearing down to the legal limit I have been getting regular wheel spin when ragging it. But thanks to the ZE912's confidence-inspiring progressive nature and me possessing godlike driving abilities, when the back end has stepped out I have controlled it easily on the throttle without panic.

Just purchased the next ZE914 version. Should be good!

Note that this is compared to the best in its class eg. Bridgestone, Continental, not low tier brands.

Very good dry grip and feedback.
Very poor wet grip. Poor comfort and high noise level after wear.

Much better than cheap tires if you want something relatively inexpensive. Great for spirited driving in dry climates and cars with good suspension & sound proofing from road noise.

Dry grip excellent

Wet grip ok but not good in spirited

Road feedback good

Progressiveness excellent

Wear is ok

Comfort is good compound is soft

Would not buy again due to poor wet grip can get Hankook V concepts or Kumho Ecsta Lx Platinum KU27 much better tires for same price range

Have about 25000km on the tire so far reliable for commuter and occasional spirited driving

Given 89% while driving a Mitsubishi Colt (205/45 R16 V) on mostly motorways for 44 easy going miles
excellent for me..my usual speed is 90-110 km/h but when pushed them to higher speed (120-180) I had no problem. Really quiet even after 70.000 km !! commfortable but not giving the sense of a sport tire. The lack of proper rom protection is another negative aspect. I've ordered the 914 since the 912 have been discontinued.

Fitted these due to extremely limited choice in this tire size, now wish i hadn't. The grip in the dry can only be described as okay under cornering and acceleration, but very poor under braking. Wet grip is shockingly bad. Unfortunately wear seems very reasonable, i say unfortunately as i'd love to wang 'em in the bin but there is still loads of tread left!

Given 63% while driving a Vauxhall zafira 1.9 cdti 150 bhp (225/45 R17) on mostly country roads for 12,000 average miles
Disappointed, at the price and the reviews I was expecting a tire that lasted a lot longer. After a year and 12,000 miles the fronts were down to 2mm.

These tires are what they should be:- reasonable wearing, good value, predictable, quieter than Pirelli P6's - all in all a good compromise.

I'll get a new set when these wear down. The fact that I don't even think about them when I'm overtaking at speed (during a fleeting return to my youth) says a lot.

This is my second update for these tires. It's been a year since I replaced the previous set of ZE512 with these ZE912 and I've done more than 13,000 km with them. I was satisfied enough with the 512, which led me to stick with Falken despite the temptation to try some other brand just for the heck of it. I feel I've made a good choice with the 912.

The roads in a tropical country like Malaysia would often change from bone-dry to wet in a matter of minutes but these tires have done their job very well over the past 12 months. Regardless of the road conditions, the rides have been predictable and I always feel the tires were capable of hugging the surface. I've read a few comments which mention them as being `noisy'. This is indeed a surprise - from my experience with the 912 and 512, I've never felt bothered by this. And they felt soft enough despite the front tire pressure being pumped to 30 psi and the back 32 psi.

Judging from the thread depth, I believe I can easily get at least another 13,000 km more from these tires. I'm going to rotate them to ensure even wear so that I can replace all four at the same time in the future. Have to admit that I sometimes get the urge to try something different just to see how they fare. But maybe I should just stick with the 912 and Falken in general. There are surely better tires out there but do they come at the same price as Falken? They are indeed good value for your money.
