Avoid these tires at all costs! They are hands down the worst tire I have ever driven. Dry grip is average, wet grip is dangerous to all but capable drivers. Even more so if fitted to an older vehicle without modern electronic safety systems.

I have Goodyear EfficientGrip Performance at the front end and they highlight just how bad the set of Landsail LS988 tires on the rear axle are. They are hard, noisy and are prone to unpredictable breakaway. Wet roundabouts at 15mph will have the car sideways. My front wheel drive focus has no understeer issues but will currently oversteer on lift-off and under full throttle in the wet. I dread to think how much worse a set on the front axle, or even all round would be. Avoid at all costs unless you like opposite-lock.

AVOID if you enjoy life. BUY if you fancy living on the edge every time it rains...

I genuinely can't believe how badly they perform in the wet. I had two of these on my E250 fitted by the dealer prior to collection.

I read the reviews here first and decided to see how they felt before changing them straight away. As soon as it rained, they went!

In the dry they're so, so. Understeer is easy to provoke whilst the grip is nothing to write home about. Maybe okay for old Dorris on the Picasso to visit the shops.

In the wet, I came home a little wet! Rain, fast moving traffic, low light and Lansails are a frightening combination.

The front of the car aqua pained every so often and roundabouts off dual carriage ways were met with a lot of nervous laughter and praying. They are THAT bad.

I don't drive like a loon however I've driven performance cars all my life with Michelin tires fitted so I can appreciate a decent tire.

Don't cut corners, even if you don't intend to drive quickly, one day in the wet you might need to avoid something sharpish or perform an emergency stop. It's then you'd wish you had spent that extra £20 per tire.

Well, the good news is that I'm still alive and my car is in one piece! These Landsails were on my Mini Cooper S when I bought it. In the dry they seemed OK, no sudden dramas and reasonable grip at all times, then came the rain!. . . . Landsail is a very appropriate name once the roads are wet, the grip levels are phenomenally bad even with a slightly damp road. Straight line braking in the wet has the heart beating fast, cornering has you praying to every God out there that you survive, 20mph on a wet roundabout will see you drift toward the kerb, the traction control on the Cooper S was constantly cutting in. Luckily the 6000 miles was in the summer on mainly dry roads but I cannot describe how scary these tires are in the wet. If you have a spirited driving style, do not buy these, they are going to kill you in the end!

Got these tires fitted to a Citroën ds4, and have used them for 7 months, in different weathers. In the dry , they are OK, if noisy. If it's wet, don't even think about going round a roundabout at faster than walking pace, you just slide out, massive under steer. Useless in the snow. Avoid these dangerous tires.

Bought a Civic Type R from the Honda dealer, and the previous owner put these on before trading... Absolutely dreadful tires. The only saving grace is they arent actually too bad in dry weather, BUT as soon as its wet, or even moist, roundabouts are a serious issue, borderline dangerous. The car just wouldn't turn. Theyre noisy too. I couldn't talk to my partner comfortably at 70mph. I do 5k miles a year max, and the front passenger side lasted 12 months, and drivers side lasted 18 months.

Was on a budget so couldn't replace straight away... For the price difference, go with a mid range known make. I changed mine for tires that were £25 dearer each, and the difference is worlds apart.
Genuinely cant understand the good reviews on these tires.

Avoid at all costs, spend a few quid more on something decent. Youll regret it if you dont.

If you want something cheaper I've had a set of 225/40/18 Landsails on my 2002 260hp Saab 93 Aero for a year. It's a bit of a brutal car. I've punished them on the motorway and nice country back roads and they've stood up to Pilots and Continentals I've used before. Paid £65 a corner on recommendation and money back if I didn't like how they performed. I'm not one to scrimp on tires usuallylly but I was REALLY surprised and will buy again.

Bought four of these tires to go on replacement 18 inch wheels for my Audi A4 avant. My wife has has the LS 588 on her Renault scenic and seemed pretty good. Have to say they are excellent tires for the money £183 for 4 off eBay and hope they wear well. Perform well in the wet but I do drive to the conditions. Time will tell but so far very happy

These were fitted to my TT Quattro on the front, with equally dreadful Avon ZZ3's on the back and it handled like a freight train. Landsail budgets, like all budgets, have no place on any performance car!... Driveable in the dry, but a definate ditch finder in the winter/wet.

The only positive is low rate of wear and cheap, in the sense of spending £5 to save 50p mentality.

A truely hateful tire.

Just spent £360.00 on x4 Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2's... This is when you realise what a proper tire feels like and why they cost more.

These are the only things connecting you to road and the expense is more economic compared to an increased risk of incident!!

Purchased 4 LS988's for Audi A4 back in August after they we're recommended to me by my local garage.

At the time I had never heard of Landsail, but after doing some research online managed to find quite a lot of info.

After almost 6 months of driving them through the winter, the handling and grip has been better than the Conti's they replaced. Really pleased with the wear (or lack of) too.

Would certainly buy again next time.

MONDEO 2.0 GHIA X : Needed to replace rear tires, so placed 11 month old GT radial uph on back of my car an purchased two new landsail tires for front, low noise... driving decent and feedback is good and they are comfortable...GT radial on back will not be there another 11 months worn over half of tread already bought these at dealer will not make that mistake again....landsail seem decent enough so far but honestly just a stop gap until summer an getting goood-year on each corner....:

okay in a straight line but frankly suicidal in the wet on the rear of the car
