Put a pair on my VFR800 and was disappointed from the off. I'm a massive Michelin fan and rarely suffer anything else but these were not for me. The long parallel treads down the centre make it feel like the front tire is flat. Even counter steering is now a chore. As I start to lean I can feel the step in compound change- it's like driving off a kerb! Wear isn't as good as other Michelin 2ct but much better than Bridestones and others I've run before. Wet grip is very good but they do need warming up.
To be fair these tires weren't aimed at a fat bloke on an old sport tourer but I've got used to expecting the very best from Michelin. Back to Pilot Road 2s....

On the very first ride you will notice Michelins light tire technology, I felt the bike was much more eager to turn, it was almost similar to riding with lighter wheels. They are not as quick to warm here in South Wales as I was expecting, but they are not bad. The front is not as confidence inspiring as I had hoped for but will not move on the edge. In fairness I am used to a road legal track tire with a medium compund so this tire is really quite impressive. The reason I felt the need to write was its wet grip. Now this is a different story, this tire is amazing!!! I was able to push hard over the mountains and the tire did not slip once, common sense stops you from kicking the arse out of it, but I reckon given its wet grip you will be hard pushed to find a better all round tire. This tire could only be bettered by the same tire with different compund choices!!! Another thing is, I am not exactly sure where this tire lives in the market place, the media on it is confusing, is it a road tire? or a road legal track tire? if it is a road tire then this is the best tire money can buy fact. If its a road legal track tire its great also but not the best. Great job Michelin miss you guys on the GP circuit on the mountain roadss, I hate bridgestones they just can't cut it out there

I had the corsa III and corsa pro's before these tires and yes they
were great in the dry but a total disaster in the wet.......step in
Michelin with there 2ct range. If you have rode with pilot power 2ct's
you will know what I mean when I say it like holding the axle in your
hands with the amount of feedback through the bars you get. well the pures
are just the same only this time unlike the track focused power 2ct's these tires have been primarily designed for road with a wider soft rubber section.
with these lighter tires there is also near 1kg of unsprung weight saving
which is the weight that counts when in comes to bikes.so far im very happy with these tires :)
