Nexen N Fera SU1 Reviews - Page 6

Given 68% while driving a BMW 320 d (235/45 R17) on for 0 miles
I've been driving with the for a couple of months already. On a dry road handling is good, not noisy, but on the wet road it wasn't as pleasant. Aquaplaning starts quite quickly where the road is not a good quality and more water collects, after the first quite dangerous situations I am more careful now.

Given 100% while driving a Hyundai i40 tourer (215/55 R17 R) on a combination of roads for 0 average miles
As a normal driver not an expert I could say that nexen tires are quite decent tires. Car handling is good and it's not loud inside the car. Price is good so you can't go wrong on that. I would buy them again and again. Recommended to all

Peugeot 407 4 door sedan 2.0 petrol (215/55 R17 V) on a combination of roads for 0 average miles
I have not had time to evaluate but they seem to be a well made tire. The UTQG ratings stamped on my 215 55R17 94V tires are: Treadwear 400 Traction A Temperature A. The EU tire ratings are E, A, 70, where A is wet grip, so I am a little surprised that the UTQG traction was not AA?

Given 81% while driving a Alfa Romeo MiTo (225/40 R18 W) on mostly country roads for 4,000 average miles
Tried these on my MiTo 1.4 TB 155hp on a 225/40/18 size. I never considered Nexens as budget tires especially compared to some cheap chinese variants of other brands. I have been driving with these the last 4,000 miles and i am very satisfied. The time will tell of course for the wear and general feedback on the tires' behavior, but all the current characteristics seem to do the job. Handling in the dry is very grippy and in the wet provides confidence too. Overall it is a quite tire. The only drawback i noticed is its behavior on aquaplaning especially during very heavy rain. Of course MiTo is not a very heavy car, but in these conditions i slow down a bit. No problems or concerns so far, i believe it is down to time to see whether they are an all arounder, but until now i am very happy.

Given 54% while driving a BMW (225/45 R17) on mostly town for 500 spirited miles
These tires are actually great compromise tires for 9 out of ten people. Unfortunately for me I’m the 10th guy. My 135i had virtually zero body roll . Now, for me it’s undrivable due to way too pliant a sidewall. My countless upgrades to my car suspension are negated by these tires. I just went cheap, which is something I normally don’t do. I won’t do it on tires again.... Steve Smith

Given 83% while driving a Mazda Mazda6 Sedan 175 (225/45 R19) on a combination of roads for 20,000 spirited miles
I obtained most of this set of three as a second hand from another fellow driver of Mazda6 Diesel in HK. He has done approximately 4000 miles as I got them.

Had been driving around with them for about 10 months, and did some 20000 miles on them. Swapped from Bridgestone Turanza T001 (stock tires from manufacturer as brand new), and immediately noticed that the grip is better, and generally quieter. Some people complained about the soft tire wall, and my response is to pump quite a bit harder. I do 35/38 PSI (cold/warm), and notice that the behaviour of the tires would suit the car better too!

Wet grip is generally good, braking distance is good in general, while there are bad episodes that failed to stop in the right distance (more problems with brakes than the tires though). It’s less bouncy when on bad road surface when compared with the Turanzas. Given the price point of the tires (~£80 per tire in HKD equivalent), while PS4s would be something into (£200+ per tire in HKD), I would consider the SU1s a steal.

Given 30% while driving a Mercedes Benz CLS 320 (275/35 R18) on a combination of roads for 8,000 average miles
These tires come with 7mm tread. They are excellent until theyre down to 5mm. Then they become death traps. I noticed most good reviews on here are after relatively short mileage. Dont risk it.

Given 95% while driving a BMW 318 (225/45 R17) on mostly town for 1 easy going miles
I purchased the Next SU1 tires having come from Bridgestone Performance Tires which grip really well, but were considered noisy.

I am driving a BMW 3 Series on 18 Inch Alloys and once I swapped the Bridgestone for the Nexen Tires I immediately could feel a significant difference in comfort and a reduction in noise.

I am incredibly impressed by the Nexen Tires as I had never heard of the brand before, but once the Tire Mechanic convinced me that it was of good quality and manufactured in Korea, I decided to try.

The Nexen Tires are much more comfortable on the road, and glides over the road and uneven surfaces much better than my previous Bridgestone Potenzas. The Nexens are also much more quieter. Considering that they are also significantly cheaper than the popular brands, I will be sticking to Nexens from now on and swear by them for a good daily driver car's tires! I am not sure of the performance of them as i do not drive my car hard.

Given 87% while driving a Ford Mondeo Titanium X (215/50 R17 W) on mostly town for 500 easy going miles
I bought 4 Nexen SU1 for my Mondeo Titanium X ( 2014 Reg ) after having Goodyear Efficient Grip on all 4 and then Pirelli P7 on fronts. To be honest the handling, comfort and road noise on the Nexens is as good or even better BUT, and it's a BIG BIG but for me, I was getting in excess of 50 MPG before the Nexens but am struggling to get 40 MPG on the Nexens. I have had a full geometry test on the car due to excessive wear on the Pirelli P7. Although the Nexens cost £76 opposed to £98-£110 for Goodyear/Pirelli, the MPG will ensure i don't buy Nexens in the future.

Given 84% while driving a Volkswagen Golf 7 GTI PP DSG (225/35 R19 W) on a combination of roads for 0 average miles
Surprisingly these tires are very good. I was doubting them before i bought them, but after the sales man convinced me, i went for them. Plus they are a great deal cheaper than the Pirrellis that i had on my car. I have only had these tires for a day, but i am impressed already. immediately after the tires were fitted on i took the car out for a drive (dry road conditions) and performance of these tires is really good. Honestly there is no difference between these tires and the Pirelli, although i feel like the Nfera SU1 handles better in wet. Later at night it rained very hard, so i took the car out again to test the tires and i could comfortably do 180km/h - 190km/h in heavy heavy rain. Quite impressive !!

Given 80% while driving a Jaguar X type 2.0SE diesel (225/40 R18) on a combination of roads for 400 average miles
After much research, and after reading many reviews, I decided to give these tires a chance. I must admit that, for the price, I am more than happy with them. They have good grip in dry conditions and I have driven on wet roads and they have performed well. I don't push the car too hard so I couldn't comment on how well they would perform under more strenuous driving.
I had Pirelli tires on previously and I haven't noticed a great deal of difference. Road noise is a little more noticeable but not so much as to make driving uncomfortable. Good tread pattern and positive handling. I cannot comment on wear as they have only been on the car for around 400 miles.
To be honest I would say that for a mid range tire, within a certain price range, they are very good.
