Nexen N8000 Reviews - Page 7

Given 90% while driving a Audi S3 (225/40 R18 W) on a combination of roads for 5,000 average miles
These tires were about half the price of my previous Yokohama S-Drive but are about twice that good. I am someone who likes to drive fast every once in a while but who doesn't want to give up comfort. The Nexen N8000 are quiet and comfortable and also give you great grip and performance when you need it.
The Yokohamas had good grip but were noisy. Also had Goodyear LS2000 Hybrid which were super quiet and comfortabale but had the worst grip in both dry and wet conditions one can imagine. The N8000 give me everything I've ever wanted from a tire and the price is great, too.

Given 83% while driving a Ford Focus (215/45 R17 W) on a combination of roads for 8,000 spirited miles
The N8000 have just come off the car having provided a quality service for 8000 miles. They are now just off the tread wear indicators. They have not lost wet or dry grip as they wore down and they still have an even tread pattern. I was impressed by the quietness of these tires compared to the Khumo. As these tires are basically a summer tire the long tread pattern did expel water well but were unsurprisingly poor on snow and ice. The replacement for these is the new Nexen N1000 , which I am advised will give a longer life and similar grip levels. Prices are up though (not only the VAT) as £155 a pair. So N8000 recommended if you want very high grip levels and are happy to live with their short life. Question is would a twice as expensive continental (look at the tread similarity) last twice as long with my motoring?

Given 86% while driving a Ford Focus ST170 (215/45 R17 W) on a combination of roads for 10,000 spirited miles
After my early review and having covered several thousand miles , including time spent on the great roads of North Wales and Snowdonia I have to say it is a great tire. Very good dry grip and those big grooves do give good wet handling. Not as long lasting as Khumos but very much a performance tire.

Given 84% while driving a Ford Focus MK1 (215/45 R17 W) on a combination of roads for 300 spirited miles
Having prevously written here on the merits of the Khumo Ku31 I was trying to get a hold of a pair , however they seemed in short supply and prices have risen. A local tire suggested I try the Nexen N8000. He had to get them in but still did a good deal. He said from his feedback the tires are not asw long lasting but would outperform the Ku31 being a new level of performance tire from Nexen since input from Michelin. I only gently abused the tires for the first hundred miles but then an opportunity for a back road blast. The Nexen provide a higher feeling of stability and greater levels of grip during tight corners. At motorway speeds the noise levels are generally lower than Ku31`s . I cannot yet comment on wet performance but the wide grooves would suggest a good performance and I will have to see about the durability. Since purchasing these tires I have heard that Khumo are having funding issues with the Korean government ,so I`m hoping the Nexen live up to the favourable impression I currently have.

Given 83% while driving a BMW 530D (235/45 R17 W) on mostly motorways for 1,000 average miles
These tires have a profile similar to ContiSportContact 3 tires, but much cheaper. I was a little bit unsure about the purchase, because no reviews were available so far. During my last holiday trip, I drove approx. 800 km, mostly rainy weather with heavy showers. I was really positively surprized, a very smooth ride, low noise, high speeds on the (wet) highway up to 200 km/h (I am from Germany) without any problems or scaring moments. So far I cannot report anything negative, no problems with balancing as often reported with cheap tires. I would recommend them, because I cannot find any disadvantages to my previous Pirelli P6000 so far. I will give an update about durability later.
