fantasctic, buy with confidence! I work for nokia lol so they made me say this crap:)) now for real, great all around, just can't comment on the wear since only half a winter.

A heavy 3.5l V6 with rear wheel drive is always a little bit scary to drive in the winter but these tires are superb and great value.

Can't comment on wear as I only had them on for about 500 miles before switching over to my summer tires

These tires I have are run flats - for my 5 series E61. They were great. Last year I had bought my father in law the same tires for his tiguan in a non-runflat variety. He hadn't got much snow-use out of them as we had a mild winter that year. However, this winter we've both used the tires and I have to say I'm very impressed with the wr a3 runflats. I was half expecting them to struggle in the snow and ice, but they were pretty sure footed. I have to say my awd audi with vredestein (non runflat) were more surefooted, but that's neither here nor there. The 5 series allowed us to be mobile even as a family and go about our daily business with little impact. I even took it on some off-beat roads to test the tires and they never once let us down.

The tires do lose traction now and again on very thick icy slushy roads, but find purchase again quickly enough with the traction control helping. As examples on our street (with a very small incline) an audi a5, bmw 3 series and mini all with summers struggled and even gave up during the icy/snowy conditions. Our 5 series with the nokians had no issues at all.

I was also impressed with the comfort levels - as far as I can tell they're on a par with my summer runflats - if anything a little quieter and softer. Fuel economy seems a little lower - but that could just be winter conditions...

Love the tires - I have them mounted on a spare set of alloys I found cheapy off ebay. All in all a very happy bunny and not much looking forward to taking them off for summer. I know some poeple run these tires year round as they're seen as a bit of an all-season in some countries... Perfect for the UK I think.

Sceptical how much of an improvement Winter tires, in general, would be over general use summers. Plumped for Nokian on the basis that the Finns must know about cold weather tires. Conclusion is that they are a revelation. I drove the family to the French alps and hit bad weather on the climb up to the resort. Local Police were turning around all but those who had winter tires and the car just gripped and drove off, not even a hit of traction loss even on snow covered climb. Tires provide good feedback, reassurance (especially with two infants in the back)and road noise although above normal summer tire levels is not intrusive. Absolutley buy again and recommend to anyone. Top product.

I highly recommend these Nokian Tires, these are absolutely fantastic on, dry, wet and snowy condition.I have driven them many times in mountain our roads covered with snow and ice and are really stable and safe. I am really satisfied. Price was also really fair.

Perfect winter tires!!!

Bought as winter tires and kept them on, had two sets of NCT 5 and they matched them all round and in heavy rain/ very wet roads even in an estate never lost any traction and heavy braking was controlled and very very rarely caused ABS to cut in

Tires are changed in November when temperatures drop - in 2010/11 we experienced prolonged frosts and ice in Mid Wales and tires coped extremely well. February time we have the long drive to the Alps and generally go to Austria. Last year there was nothing untoward to worry about, but this year, Feb 2012 was a different matter altogether.

With prolonged snow all week and 2.2m that fell in 48 hours, driving a fully laden Land Rover with 4 adults and all our kit (Top box, back box etc) uphill ascent is easy, the problems are on the road travelling downhill.

Fortunately, I have had some training in off road situations by Land Rover, so I am aware of the outstanding capabilities of these vehicles, but at the end of the day, you are always going to be reliant on 4 patches of rubber on the ground. Thick snowfall, has the inevitable effect on transportation systems where priority is correctly given to arterial routes, major roads, cities, towns, villages and finally remote villages.

Our chalet was 10km from the nearest town and 4km from the nearest village. It was also at altitude approaching 1,800m. All mountain roads have poles to the sides - the top few inches were only just visible and the road was always covered with a fresh 30cm (12") new powder snow each day.

Our Nokian tires performed exceptionally on the ascent, but downhill with such a heavy car, I was required to use some of the gadgets to assist me. 2nd gear engaged and DSC engaged, the car performed impeccably. It was quite satisfying to see BMW saloons struggling despite winter tires and skidding dangerously when braking downhill.

Of course, these were exceptional conditions. However, covered 1,000 miles in the Alps this year coupled with the 1,000 mile journey each way. I commend these tires for this vehicle.

Really like these tires, even in temperatures above 7 degrees they grip very well in the dry and aren't too bad in the wet.

Would buy again!

A great tire for British winters - very grippy and predictable on all road surfaces. Seem to wear well on a heavy front wheel drive car doing a lot of country road driving.
