Methodology & Configuration
Scoring Process
  1. Collect Test Data: Gather results from professional tire tests across multiple publications. Minimum 1 test(s) required.
  2. Normalize Positions: Convert test positions to percentile scores using exponential weighting (factor: 1.2).
  3. Apply Recency Weighting: More recent tests are weighted higher with a decay rate of 0.95.
  4. Incorporate User Reviews: Factor in user review data (minimum 5 reviews). Weight: 15%.
  5. Bayesian Smoothing: Apply Bayesian prior (score: 7, weight: 1.5) to prevent extreme scores with limited data.
  6. Calculate Final Score: Combine all components using normalization factor of 1.1. Max score with limited data: 9.5.

The Toyo Celsius AS2 proves to be a kilometer-eater with low overall running costs. This Japanese tire focuses on longevity and economy, delivering dependable if unremarkable performance. While it manages costs effectively through good wear rates, it shows slight weaknesses in snow performance that prevented a better overall ranking.

Top 3 Toyo Celsius AS2 Reviews

Given 90% while driving a BMW E87 (205/55 R16) on mostly town for 1,000 average miles
This is just my initial review of them after around 1K miles, I've fitted these on my girlfriend's car since both her summer and winter sets were getting long in the tooth. The car doesn't get driven that much, and when it does it's mostly through town so I swallowed my tire snobbery and decided all-seasons would be a good fit. I didn't get to test them in the snow however so far they've been really good in both wet and dry but what surprised me the most was the ride quality and the (lack of) noise. Fuel consumption doesn't seem to be affected that much either. I got a really good deal on them, less than €60/tire, when most of the midrange competition is priced at 70 and above so I'm really happy with the purchase. Made in Japan too.

Pretty uninspiring tire. It does everything ok but didn't seem great in the wet or snow.

Given 91% while driving a Opel Insignia B (235/50 R18) on a combination of roads for 5,000 average miles
I have fitted the allseason tires to my car as there is not a lot of snow where I live. In comparison to original Continental Sport Contact tires, the allseason Toyos are a bit more spongy, but not as much as European winter tires. The noise is lower and comfort is slightly higher in comparison to Continentals. The grip on both dry and wet is very good. During the initial break in period which felt quite long (maybe up to 500 miles) the tires felt a little worse regarding the stability in the curves, but this feeling went away with more miles and they feel nice and planted on both dry and wet roads. I have not driven much in the snow, only a few days and both the traction and breaking were perfectly fine. Taking into account that vast majority of the cars here use winter tires I had no problem keeping up with them in the snowy conditions. Maybe at lower temperatures the difference would be more significant. The lowest temp during the winter was -6 °C.

Latest Toyo Celsius AS2 Reviews

Given 94% while driving a Skoda (195/55 R15) on a combination of roads for 2,800 average miles
These tires are the most comfortable i have ever had. they do very well in snow and on wet. I compared these tires to Nexen winter tires and Michelin Energy Saver summer tires. The consumption in summer has increased with 0.3 percent in city on average. Outside the city there is no difference in consumption. In wet, very stable like a summer tire max 130 km/h. No aquaplaning or signs of loosing the traction. In winter if i catch snow in the parking lot no abs activated in braking. no esp activated. In dry on dusty/sandy roads i dont know what could be wrong. never had abs or esp activated. So these tires are very good in my opnion. Made in Japan.

Given 73% while driving a Mazda 3 2.0 DISI (205/50 R17) on a combination of roads for 500 average miles
This is the initial review as I have done only a few hundreds of kilometres in autumn wet and dry conditions. The tires have surprised me with comfort. Even with relatively low profile of the 205/50 R17 size they feel comfy and soft (which can be both good and bad thing depending on the situation). In the wet they feel safe even at motorway speeds and heavier rain. In the dry they are much more comfort oriented than handling oriented. There is no noticeable tramlining with these tires. I would recommend them especially if you are looking for comfy ride. In the 205/50 R17 size they have relatively large rim protector and my set was made in Japan, if those qualities matter to you.
