Uniroyal RainSport 2 Reviews - Page 10

Given 67% while driving a Audi A5 (225/45 R18) on a combination of roads for 4,000 average miles
These tires may be good in the wet but they have not changed the ride of the car for the better when compared with factory fitted.

These tires are fantastic.
In the dry on the limit they do start to feel a little a soft in the sidewall and the grip levels are very progressive even past the limit.
In the wet i personally feel that they are unstoppable. I have a big, powerful, diesel lump up the front of the car and these tires manage the weight on wet roads without even so much of a wobble.

Drove from Bristol to Buxton in Dec 2010 where there was 4inches of snow on the roads, and not once did these let me down. They are far superior to the pirelli P Zero Nero i had before, quiter and a lot cheaper than the contisport contacts 2's & 3's.

Would i buy them again - Definately. I am on my third set on the front and second on the rear and will keep buying them as the car feels stable, planted and responsive.

Rolling resistance is pretty good and road noise is no worse than the others listed above. They are also well priced

Given 34% while driving a Audi A4 2.0 TDi 170 S Line (235/40 R18) on mostly country roads for 300 spirited miles
These tires are pretty poor. I actually only used them in the dry because I had them taken off my car quite quickly and never experienced them in the wet. To me it is no good being good in the wet if they are awful in the dry. I had them fitted on an Audi A4 which is a heavy car and the super grip just dramatically reduced my torque and made me feel like I was steering a boat. I think these tires will be impressive if you are going round a track in the wet but you never are so they seem a bit pointless really. If you are afraid of the rain and don't enjoy driving you might quite like them!

Given 57% while driving a Mazda 3 Sport 2.2 Diesel 185 BHP (205/50 R17 V) on a combination of roads for 1,000 spirited miles
I purchased these on the review from this site, Once fitted (to the rear) i quickly noticed the car didnt quite seem itself. Thinking i was goin mad i asked my father to drive the car and he agreed it just "didnt feel planted" and "feels boaty". The balancing tracking was all ok, so put the tires onto the front, prevented the boatiness mostly so i then looked into the reason why..............i noticed that the sidewall of the tire is only 1 ply where as my standard tires and tires that i had replaced were all two ply thus stiffer/less roll. Im sure these tires would be perfect for some one who wasnt as "spirited" a driver.

Excellent wet tires, not bad in the dry, and quite tires on the motorway.

Mazda6 2.0A with 205/55/16 Rainsport 2

Dry grip is amazing! Especially latitudinal grip! In corners it grips and grips and grips.

Braking is excellent with nothing to say more about it.

Sound noise is ok, I would say slightly lower than avg.

New tires featuring very deep thread.

ah! I haven't noticed any *significant* improved against Michelin Energy/Toyo Proxes CF/Pirelly (don't remember model) in dry conditions. As for my all these "tire for wet roads" announcements are just another ad =) Not that they are bad in rain but you need to try hard to spot the difference to usual all weather tire.

Please be aware that these tires are dreadful in snowy condition! =) There were not THAT much snow last winter but couple times I was unable to park in my slot that has a small bias... Although if you will keep safe distance everything should be under control on the road. Just keep distance =) !

p.s. Quite likely that I will buy them another time as they are well priced good quality tires, looking good too =)

Given 87% while driving a Volkswagen GOLF MK5 R32 3.2 V6 4MOTION (225/45 R17) on a combination of roads for 100 spirited miles
Had these tires a week and they have transformed my R32, it's fun to drive again, and bordering on comfortable, wish I'd bought them years ago instead of the yokohamas I put on it, wish also that I'd realised that it was the tires that were spoiling the ride of my car so much and not tracking / suspensions etc.

I've had these Rainsport 2's fitted about a week now.

All I can say say compared to the P Zero Neros that they replaced they're incredible! I've only done about 100 miles on them so far, but I think they are well worth the money (more than Avon ZZ3's but less than Pirelli PZN's)and deserving of the great reviews they get!

I'm properly chuffed with them, grip is superb on dry roads and we had a little summer downpour during a short drive they gave incredible grip in the wet. They instill (maybe a bit too much) confidence to push it that little bit harder into and out of corners. Feedback through the wheel is sharp and road noise is quieter than the Pirellis as well. I'm yet to see if the wear rate and sidewall strength is any good, but only time and mileage will tell on those fronts. For now though I would recommended them to other Fez ST owners any day of the week rain or shine!

Given 64% while driving a Volkswagen Passat 1.9 TDI Sport Estate (B5.5) (235/45 R17) on a combination of roads for 25,000 spirited miles
Good looking tire that grips very well in both wet and dry. The wear so far has been good as the tires have been on the front of the car for almost 2 years now and still have plenty of life left in them. They replaced a set of Conti's which lasted less than 12000 miles. However the down side of having tires that last longer is that they are made with a harder compound which brings with it the increase in noise.
A good tire, but due to the huge increase in road noise i will not buy another set.

I have probably done about 4k with these tires now. I like them a lot, they perform amazingly on damp roads.

The side walls are soft and so if you want a more solid/sporty 'pointy' feel then you may feel let down.

Overall, I don't think I have ever had a better 'all purpose' tire, I've generally gone for more sporty tires in the past, GSD3, T1R, etc, and I think I prefer the rainsports.
They don't have as much 'all out' dry grip as some sporty style tires, or feel very sporty but they offer the best overall performance I've ever seen.

This is my 2nd set of these tires bought on the recommendation of this site. I changed from run flat tires to these and achieved vastly reduced road noise and increased comfort. My first set of Rain Sport 2s lasted 22000 miles with only one swap, front to back, to even out the wear. BMW drivers will tell you that the 3 series is prone to 'tramlining' as the tires wear, but i do not experience this with these tires. Dry and wet grip is very good and I base this on the reduced number of occasions that traction control is called to operate. I have owned five 3 series BMWs and this is the best 'all round' tire I have ever used for comfort, control, grip and wear.

This is the third set replaced using this tire. I get 18K miles out of each tire on A road commute. Very quiet and comfortable drive in all weathers.
