Uniroyal Rainsport Reviews - Page 2

Given 93% while driving a Ford Mondeo (225/40 R18 W) on a combination of roads for 107,000 spirited miles
bought these to replace the pirellis that i fitted on my car. Infinatly better than pzero rossos. The grip in the dry was fantastic. The grip in the wet made the road feel like it was dry. the ware rate was pretty good as well with one lasting 25k miles on the front of my mondeo zetec s, the other sadly failed in its prime after hitting a 1.5 meter long 8cm deep pothole at 70mph! They have good size rim protectors as well. They were as good as goodyears F1 GSD3s but were cheaper .

This is a review of these tires on the rear of my car.
A good all round performance tire.

Dry grip has been good if not exceptional. If anything the problem is not the rubber itself but the somewhat soft sidewalls which give and make the car slide out under hard cornering. This was shown markedly when driving a very twisty mountain pass in the Peak District where almost every hard corner had the tires sliding a little. This was definitely not a huge issue though and even in this situation the actual grip was still good and very controllable. For normal driving these tires are faultless. I found them quiet and comfortable.

I didnt really find these 'rainsports' any better in the rain than my previous michelin pilot sports, although they did get up to temperature and optimal grip faster.

Wear rate has been good. They started with a thread of 8mm in the centre and 6-7mm on the outsides and have gone down to 7mm centre and 5mm on the edges in the 15000 miles they have been on the rear.

All in all not the ultimate tire but for the money a very good one.

Given 83% while driving a Vauxhall 1.4 auto mk3 (195/50 R15 V) on mostly country roads for 8,000 spirited miles
The wet weather king, they also grip/last better in wet and DRY than the eagle f1's that replaced them.
Awsome tire, WARNING though go below around 5/6C and they don't work very well at all, seems to need heat to get good results, so if very cold don't get as much grip which can catch you out.
This apart I would defo use again the original rainsport(1)

Given 90% while driving a Saab Automobile 9 3 Aero HOT (215/45 R17 W) on a combination of roads for 20,000 spirited miles
Overall these are a fantastic tire - wet grip is great, and dry grip isn't far behind.

Wear is about average, there are better lasting tires, but they tend to be hard and noisy; which these tires are not.

I was so happy with the Rainsport 1's that I've just ordered 4x Rainsport 2's, so you may need to add a new section soon!

Given 87% while driving a Toyota MK2 MR2 Turbo (235/40 R17 W) on track for 5,000 spirited miles
Very good road & occasional track tire.
Superb in the wet - had all the majors before - Toyo, F1s and these are the best. dry grip as good as F1s
Not the cheapest, wear is reasonable for a soft tire.

Given 90% while driving a SEAT Ibiza FR TDi (205/45 R16 V) on a combination of roads for 22,000 spirited miles
Why to buy this tires:
- Fantastic tires on rain (at 180km/h on very wet road it goes smooth and secure)
- On dry it goes as good as any good performance tire
- It as a good road feedback (u might strange it at the beginning, but when u force it it just turns harder and harder)
- Progressiveness is smooth (your car wont spin without understanding)
- Changing tires half the wear, it can hold 35000km with curve speeding (the Ibiza destroys any tire on the exterior side)
- Good comfort considering the low profile of the tire

Finally the PRICE:
- VERY GOOD PRICE FOR A BRAND WITH STATUS

DEFINITELY A TYRE TO BUY AGAIN AND AGAIN

Given 74% while driving a Audi A4 (215/35 R19 W) on a combination of roads for 15,000 average miles
These are really good wet weather tires and surprisingly good in the dry. Not quite wearing as well as the contis I had before but the rainsport is certainly an impressive all season high performance tire.

Might try the FK452 next.

Given 94% while driving a Lexus IS200 (215/45 R17 V) on mostly motorways for 28,000 easy going miles
These tires lasted 28K and would have gone another 8k in my opinion if not for me popping the rears on a kerb. They are very quite on the motorway and offer superb grip wet or dry, excellent in the wet and wear well too amazing tire and highly recommended especially for the lexus as the V tread suits the Lexus handling and balance and wear.
