Audi A4 b9 2.0 tdi Tire Review Highlights

Writing about the Michelin Alpin 7 given 90% (245-40-18-)
Driving on a combination of roads for 1000 spirited miles
I had only recently bought these tires. There were no reviews since they are brand new, but I had Alpin 3 and 4, plus this is Michelin, so I figured they are good. And indeed they are. Much sofer and offer more comfort than my summer Goodyear F1 Asymetric 6. Thats the first impression. They offer more comfort. Noise is the same as F1, handling is fine, as you expect. Still waiting for a below zero temperatures and snow, but for now - you get what you pay for. Excellent tire

Driving on a combination of roads for 25000 average miles
Milage was mainly on motorways, but time spent driving was predominantly on country roads of varying roughness. Dry braking was excellent, even under heavy braking ABS bite point was predictable and consistent. Wet grip was good initially, however, as the tire got below the Continental raindrop marker performance decreased significantly. To be fair to Conti, this is still stipulated on their website. Feedback was decent near breakaway there is a huge window of transient grip which would suit people unfamiliar with pushing tires. I wouldn't recommend for track at all. I can't fault the wear, pressure was checked weekly, and wear was seen to be even across the main body of the tread. Comfort was decent on motorway and not particularly noisy. The sidewall seems to be a bit stiffer than others in the class I have tried, fine for when pushing a bit, but some bumps felt harsher than expected. I would buy again if in a pinch, they're not a bad tire, but I think money could be better spent elsewhere.

Driving on mostly motorways for 12500 average miles
I have used 3 sets of non PZ4 P-Zero on my previous car, as I was happy with their performance. On the contrary, i will not replace this PZ4 (AO Sport cars version) with the same ones. I have read the rest of the comments, and I fully agree with most of them. The tire has strong areas such as very nice feedback, dry grip, wet grip under low water quantity, low noise when new and reasonable comfort (much better than the Hankook S1 Evo2 R01 I had before), but its two drawbacks are too heavy: First, wear is too high. I am changing the front ones (FWD car) with just 20.000 km, while I have always been able to run at least 30-35k from previous tires under the same routes and speeds. Second, aquaplaning resistance when new is low but acceptable, but it gets simply scary when the tread depth is below 3.5-4 mm. It is now at 3 mm, and I have been overtaken twice by a track, as the car was aquaplaning at only moderate speeds (90 km/h), while the rest of the traffic was moving wihout issues. I consider totally impossible to keep the tires up to the legal 1.6 mm depth. I donĀ“t think they found the right balance in the design.

Driving on mostly country roads for 10000 average miles
Tire performed excellent from new fitted in the spring, but now when the roads are wet and full of leaves its time to change to winter set. I was shocked when i took them off. Front tires are barely above the legal limit. I have never had a tire that wears that quick - one season cca. 10000km average driving style (150bhp isnt that much). The grip was excellent in all weather conditions and it gave me confidece going a bit over the speedlimit on the highway in pouring rain. Comfort wise as much as you can expect from this dimension. But I cant forgive goodyear the wear. They are not so cheap to replace every season. Will try something else next year.
