Driving on a combination of roads for 10 average miles
Fitted on Range Rover L322 (2002 model.) The car is driven across Europe twice a year and kept in the Alps over winter so sees a bit of everything, and I chose all season tires to avoid having to change them twice a year. Behaves perfectly well in normal conditions, also in the wet, and in moderate snow, eg on the highways which are gritted and salted. However, in more difficult winter conditions (particularly on deep / hard packed snow) I have had big problems. I skidded across a car park after the slightest touch on brakes because there was hard show under a soft layer. I had a terrifying descent into the village on packed snow,I kept losing traction and had to crawl at 5mph to the frustration of following cars fitted with winter tires. I got stuck halfway up a steep snow covered road in the middle of a 3-point turn, i.e. side-on to the downhill slope, and every time I did anything it threatened to slide sideways down the hill into parked cars. On this and several other occasions I had to use chains just to get out of the situation safely, when nobody else seemed to need them. Now I run Continental TS850 dedicated winter tires during the winter and they are simply awesome on the steepest slopes and all kinds of snow. I've never used the chains since. The Pirelli Scorpion ATR is a good al rounder (I still fit them in summer/autumn) but don't make the mistake of thinking they will suffice in heavy show or you'll be in for a shock.

Driving on a combination of roads for 15000 average miles
Previously, I've bought sets of both the Goodyear Wrangler HP (Land Rover's original fitment) and Michelin Latitude Cross tires. I decided however, that this time around I'd try a set of Maxxis AT771's as the Michelin's proved to work well on the road, but far less well off road, particularly on wet grass.

I generally expect All Terrain tires to be a bit of a compromise, that said, the Maxxis 771's have really impressed me. The grip off-road is far better that I've experienced before, sure-footed progress up wet bank sides is no problem, likewise the grip on descent provides every confidence that you're not going to lose traction.

On the road, the 771's drive comfortably, they're smooth and surprisingly quiet, with little discernible difference in road / cabin noise to previous tires despite the higher rating. The Maxxis 771's grip well in the dry and (if driven responsibly!) equally well in the wet, coping easily with moderate snow . After 11 months of use the wear on these tires is minimal despite the car covering a good many road miles and with luck, they should last at least as well, if not somewhat better, than the Michelin Cross.

Overall, I highly recommend these tires if you intend using your car both on and off road. I'd happily buy them again.

Driving on mostly motorways for 10 average miles
My wife needed 4 tires for the RR. We ere thinking if selling it, so just wanted to put something cheap on it to get it sold. Naas tire dealer suggested these Iota as a cheap but ok tire for me. We discussed the pros and cons as I didn't want to loose the jeep in a hedge before the new car. To my surprise and after 6 months, these tires are good. Not too noisy as the rubber is more road going than chunky 4x4. Co oared to the original tires, these seem very food value and good quality. I would buy again.

Driving on mostly town for 60 average miles
I had Goodyear Wranglers as original equipment on my 2004 Range Rover 3.0 diesel. They did 50,000 miles and were still legal when I replaced them with another set of Wranglers in autumn 2009. I saw that they were the tires used non Range Rovers when I did a Land Rover Adventure off-road course and they coped amazingly well with deep, soft mud, climbing out of the lake etc. I am sorry that they hqave been replaced as OEM on current Range Rovers as I had great confidence in them and the slow rate wear was very good. In 60,000 miles I never had a puncture either!
