Mercedes Benz A35 AMG 4MATIC Tire Review Highlights

Driving on mostly motorways for 500 spirited miles
I was experiencing a lot of road noise with existing tires, as close to legal Limit and recently purchased the car.

My previous car was a ford ST2 got nearly 30k miles out of Pirelli and 124k out of car. Got me through uni and traveling length nd London driving.

I purchased Pirelli P zero PZ4 and those developed with Mercedes.

I was a bit sceptical that the Mercedes tires were a bit more expensive, just because they were Mercedes and no real difference to other same tire by Pirrelli? The tires fitter assured me they were different and explained the a MO on tires wall for Mercedes, AO for Audi etc.

The reviews on tires on all forums can be a bit confusing and a few decibels different in tires, I didn't think would make much difference bearing in mind weight of car. Plus trying to put all that weight and power of the car on onto a thin strip of rubber and Britains abysmal roads would make much difference.

Wow! As soon as they were fitted road noise was greatly improved and much better feel to the car.

These tires are very good when new, providing everything beyond expectations in terms of handling, comfort and feedback. However, they wear down very fast. Drove about 20k kms on these tires and they get chewed up awfully fast, especially in the front given the car I drive is AWD. My feeling is that these tires perform better on RWD vehicles.

As the wear progresses, these tires start to lose the great characteristics that they once had - fast. First thing that is the most noticable is the noise. I believe the thread pattern of these tires influence the noise dampening, as as they wear down, it loses a lot of that ability. Second thing that you will start to feel is the reactiveness. The sidewalls begin to feel rather soft and you do not get the same kind of precision as you would when new to around 5k kms

I have switched to the Michelin PS5's since, and am finding them a lot better in terms of comfort, and similar in terms of performance.

Changed all the tires on my A-Class AMG and found them to be a great choice. Whilst I understand the previous tires had some wear and tear, having a new set of Davanti tires certainly gave extra confidence to driving especially in the wet and cornering. Thoroughly pleased with the decison.

Driving on a combination of roads for 9000 spirited miles
My car came supplied from factory on this current set of Michelin PS4S tires so I don't have an alternative reference point to compare to other tires. With that said, I'm delighted with most aspects of these tires performance. They are grippy in all conditions and totally predictable when they do approach the limits of grip. The one area that has been a disappointment is the noise levels when travelling at motorway speeds, but I think this is more to do with the characteristics of the A Class as it doesn't have much sound deadening in the wheel arches. I see no reason to change from these PS4S' when the time comes to replace them. Speaking of which I'm happy with the wear rate: 4-5mm left on the fronts and 6mm on rears after 9,000 miles.

Pros - High level of grip in the dry with direct/precise steering feel. Neutral balance. Impressive braking in dry/wet. Cons - Average aquaplaning resistance, it can bite when travelling at medium speeds even in a straight line by losing straight line controllability. Harsh ride. High wear. Overall - Very good tire especially in the dry. Would like to see the wet aquaplaning resistance improved.
