Mercedes Benz c350 cdi bluetec Tire Review Highlights

Writing about the Continental ContiSportContact 5 P given 55% (255-35-18-)
Driving on a combination of roads for 9000 average miles
Merc C350Cdi estate.
Got an MOT advisory to change all four tires soon.
Fronts have done 19000 miles.
But it's the rears that are the shockers, only just over 9000 miles.

This is the third set of SportContacts I've had on the rears, don't know which version of SportContact they were.
The first 2 sets lasted 15000 miles, I can't understand why the current set have lasted so badly.
My usage and driving style hasn't changed, so can only think the SportContact 5 has different wear characteristics compared to earlier versions.

I'll be replacing with all-season tires, but Continental definitely won't be on the list. I can's afford such poor tire life.

I've had these tires for over 40,000 miles now and it still had tread to last for a while, i would recommend it to everyone out there. A very good grip in wet and dry weather conditions with hardly any road noise. I will now buy a set of Syron Race 1 Plus summer tires. Definitely worth the price.

Driving on a combination of roads for 700 average miles
These tires were fitted to my C350 CDi Mercedes upon purchase. The Tires had been bought & fit by the previous owner prior to trade in.
When I collected the car it was a warm summers day, the tires felt "OK" but didn't inspire confidence or feedback when driving the car home. The noise level was noticeable compared to premium tires, but I thought their brand new they may be OK for a while.
Next day it was raining. even pulling out of the first junction near my house the tires had no feel at all, almost numb. worse to come. first roundabout, the front tires started to slide while following a bus so speed wasn't an issue, upon pulling out of the roundabout onto a dual carriageway the rear tires broke away badly. the remainder of the journey to work was like driving the car in icy conditions. The wet grip from these tires is appalling the worst I have ever experienced. In contrast driving in dry conditions they're best described as poor to tolerably acceptable. My main concern was would they stop my car quickly if the occasion arose.
Needless to say, I've already changed the tires to Goodyear's, I didn't want to risk an insurance claim.
